A new law passed in Colombia that states apartment rentals may only be renting by the month and not by the day. This gives the military police the authority to come and check apartment owners and see if everything is on the up and up.

Currently, the law is being challenged as being unconstitutional by several apartment owner groups.

All people renting apartments must be reported daily to DAS, just like the hotels and hostels are required to do.

Last time I asked someone who rents apartments in Colombia they said the do have to register the apartments. Apartment and home rentals are getting more and more popular. Hard for a hotel to compete.
