El Chicharron
Av Esperanza 195
(Corner of Alcanfores)
Miraflores - 447-6474
Closed Sundays
It was Saturday morning; we wanted chicharron sandwiches for breakfast.
No problem, you would think. Well, you'd be wrong.
After walking around the Parque Central area for a while, someone finally told us to walk to the end of Alcanfores and go to El Chicharron. Good thing we ran into that guy.
The place was neat, clean and most importantly... open. We placed our orders (two sandwiches and two jugo de strawberry drinks) to eat there. They got right on it, with the sandwich specialist working on the food, and a different woman whipping up the drinks.
Everything was fresh and very good. The sandwiches weren't as big and magical as the ones from Kio in San Miguel, but they were walking distance from my apartment and very tasty.
I don't remember exactly what we paid, but the sandwiches were less than ten soles each, and the juices were about the same. They gave us go cups for the left over drinks.
El Chicharron is probably not worth driving halfway across Lima to visit, but as I am in Miraflores most of the time anyway, it's a quick walk, and well worth the effort. I am guessing that they have other sandwiches as well, but I am pretty single-minded when it comes to sandwiches, so I didn't notice.
