Sadly, it's not fantasy. They plan to build it, It's a solar wall with a waterfall.

It took them like 12 years to build the Marriott Hotel and that was on LAND! How in the hell can they build that monstrosity in less than 5 years, on an island?
2nd question. How the hell are people going to be able to get to it? Will they have Ferrys every 3 minutes?

Well we know at least the second photo is fantasy.

Great, the paint some lines on the street to fuck up traffic, now they think they can build anything.
Cariocas remind me of a 4-year kid. "I'm a big boy daddy, look at me". Here's an idea, why don't the build some fucking apartment buildings and eliminate a couple of favelas? When a third of your population - over 2 million people - live in shanty towns and at least another third live in what we would all call slums, you really shouldn't be spending time and money on stupid shit like this.

A better monument would be a bronzed phallic shaped monument where Help was located. It should be 6 1/2 FEET IN HEIGHT, due to a scale of 1"=1ft, thus representing the average visitor.

..and we have seen how much progress they have made on the museum that was going to replace 'Help'...not!
Agree with those fucking lines as well - traffic is crazy as it is, with buses pretty much having the run of the road cutting off whoever they want. How will those lines help? Just yet another way for the city of Rio to get more traffic violation revenue....all this fucking blitz of order crap!

It is funny, they sure as shit tore Help down in a hurry, and cleared out the big hole in the ground. But, unless I'm mistaken, I haven't seen any work done on that spot in at least 6 months. Unless there's the usual 10 favelados down in the whole with hammer and chisel, chipping away.
The apartment across the hallway from mine had some "workers" in a few days while I was there, trying to put in a new kitchen. Sure enough, there were 3 guys, hammer and chisel, chipping away on the walls. Perhaps Rio will discover drywall one of these years so that every time you need to fix the electric or plumbing or something, you don't have to pound away for three days on a cinderblock wall to do so.

How about the walls they put up on the way from the airport to hide the favelas? That was clever!
Now, if they would only do something about the stink.
