A few of us went there a couple of times a few weeks ago and found some real gems. Seems like during the week is best. Have heard that's because some of the girls work only week days, telling their families they work at offices, etc to conceal their real profession. Noticible diff in talent on wk-days vs wk-ends so there may be some truth to this.

Gentlemen,
Come on Copperfieldkid, you have to tell them the rest of the story. Oh well, since you won’t, I will. About a month ago, eight of us decided to take a “field trip” to Vila Mimosa for the afternoon. Since I was the only one in the group who had been there before, I was designated the “group leader.” That turned out to be the first of many bad moves on their part. We took two taxis and as luck would have it, on the way there my taxi got into a minor traffic accident that was thankfully resolved by each party waving at each other as we continued on our merry way. The rest of the ride was uneventful until we arrived at VM and the taxi driver saw how much damage was done to his cab. Boy, was he pissed! That should have given us a subtle clue as to how this field trip was shaping up, but somehow we completely missed it.
Upon arrival our group instantly split into two factions: one hated the place and the other loved it. Okay, it wasn’t quite that bad, but our happy little band of gringos was definitely divided. As I took them for the first of many laps around the interior, Copperfieldkid said, “This place reminds me of the Disney ride Pirates of the Caribbean. You know, all dark, dirty and exciting.” With that phrase, he captured the true essence of the place.
Before we left Alcazar, I explained to the assembled group that Villa Mimosa is exactly like the Dollar Store: each and every girl costs twenty-five reais for twenty minutes. Just like in that stupid commercial where some idiot asks the Dollar Store sales clerk what each item costs, only to be told the same, “One dollar,” answer—well the same thing happened to me over and over again. As we passed a beautiful little gem dressed in a revealing outfit, someone came over to me and asked, “How much do you think she costs?” Duh! Within seconds we saw another beauty and Copperfieldkid asked, “Jag, how much for her?”
I smiled the first seven or eight times that same question was asked and politely replied, “Twenty-five reais for twenty minutes.” For a brief time I felt like I was there on one of those afternoons when Brazilian guys bring their “special” brothers for a little “release.” As a matter of fact, the only difference I could discern between those special guys with their brothers and our group was that I didn’t hold anyone’s hand so I wouldn’t lose them. Shit, if I had my way, I would have lost the whole fucking group, but I wasn’t that lucky.
Fortunately Roberto, Don’s driver, was with us because I needed help keeping these guys out of trouble. When some of the guys got tired of the place, he took three of them to Cancun and returned to watch the rest of us make idiots of ourselves. Just before we split up, two hot little numbers approached us as we were having drinks at my usual drinking spot. One was wearing a tight black outfit while the other one had only a towel wrapped around her tall slender body. Now, I know some of you think I have horrible taste in women, but believe it or not, five of my seven charges agreed that both girls were great looking.
After we took some photos of them, they crossed the street and proceeded to climb up the stairs to what I affectionately call “The Penthouse.” Actually, it’s the balcony on the third floor of a dilapidate building that doubles as an open air dance floor for the whores to display their wares. As they reached the top, they signaled for us to come join them. Then things started to spin out of control. Like idiots, Copperfieldkid and I joined them in what turned out to be a severe breech of VM protocol. Who knew that only whores and pimps were allowed up there, not clients? Clearly, we didn’t have a fucking clue as a group of six burly pimps arrived to take the girls away from us. Fortunately, before they arrived we convinced the girl with the towel to remove it and I was able to snap a few photos. After seeing her without any clothes on Copperfieldkid desperately wanted her, but the pimps started dancing with her to keep her away from us. To get even, we went downstairs to find some other beauties.
I could go on and on with stories because we stayed there for about three hours. Let’s just say that we all had such a great time that we returned there the next day.

that is interesting. My experience (from many years ago) was that early afternoons are better then the weekend night rush. I thought it was a coincidence, but after reading your stuff I will try a few more times.
If you want to go there, contact me, I might join and help translating etc.
Guess mornings probably are too quiet? What time were you guys there?
Jag, I am unaware of pimps at VM. Certainly most girls do not have pimps, if there are any they are far and apart. Must have been old customers, boyfriends or whatever.
By Jaguar on Sunday, May 27, 2007 - 04:01 pm: Edit |
BS,
We went around 5 PM and stayed till about 8 PM and there were quite a few girls there. I prefer getting there at 7 PM and staying till at least 10 PM; that way you get girls who work in offices coming in to make a few reais.
With regard to pimps, the place is crawling with them. Lots of dykes handle the girls, too.

Probably just missed you Jag. I got distracted. I was there about 9:00PM to 5:00am the next morning. I love the hell out of that place.
By Laguy on Monday, May 28, 2007 - 01:32 am: Edit |
Although I can't really say how prevalent the pimps are at VM, I do remember one instance where I picked a girl there, and before I went to the room with her some rather mean-looking guy was whispering in her ear for perhaps five minutes as though he was giving her directions. I concluded she was a relative newbie and he was her pimp. Assuming I was right, this suggests there are at least some pimps at VM. However, I probably have been with between 10 or 15 girls there, and this was the only instance where I was fairly sure the girl I had was working for a pimp.
I also remember once out of curiousity climbing the stairs to that place on the third floor and then not going in; I can't remember what kept me out though.

Jag,
I had fun that night we visited VM. It was early, maybe 7:00 pm. We grabbed a couple of beers and sat in a little bar next to the street and watched the show go by. Kind of a cross between a Fredricks of Hollywood fashion show and a meat market (which VM in fact is) packed together in a Fellini film. Garotas strolling by in their underwear. Brazilian guys, mostly working men, wandering the dark alleys where the girls hang out of the windows of dirty little bars grabbing you by the arm as walk by.
VM reminds me a lot of La Mayorista ( the big market) in Medellin. There the truckers celebrate after hauling their loads of produce, corn and beans. You can sit next to the street, drink beer and eat chicken for next to nothing and take in the steady stream of working girls who are ready to go upstairs into the cheap hotels for $20.
Definitely not the Copacabana experiece.

Spent a couple of nights in VM this week. Today there were some really nice choices. If you are staying in Ipanema it is easy and fast to take the bus - The closest bus stop for me is located on Vinicius de Moraes. Look for the bus that goes to Sao Cristovao. The closest stop to VM is the second to last prior to getting to the Sao Cristovao metro station. There is a pedestrian bridge that crosses the street. After crossing the bridge, take a left - stay right and pass under the bridge (its the Metro train bridge) - next street, make a right then go to the end of the street and go left - VM is right there. I popped my nut twice tonight with two skinny cuties - including some great BBBJ. The price is still R$20 for the girl and R$5 for the very below average room, i.e. about $12.50 USD! R$1.00 more for the condom. The beers - 500ml - are R$4. Love this place! L

Lovingmarvin
How far do you have to walk and how safe is it?
By Lovingmarvin on Thursday, June 21, 2007 - 03:44 pm: Edit |
The walk is about 10 minutes.....not very far at all. The bus stop is much closer then the metro. Safety? Well, you will hear a mix of opinions. I have lived in Rio now for almost 3 years, had a girlfriend that lived in a Favela in which I entered numerous times, and basically feel comfortable here in Rio. I personally feel safe. I know some members will probably disagree with me, but I feel safer in VM then I do in Copa beach at night. Copa has more criminals praying on tourist - VM does not. Robberies I am sure happen but so far I have been lucky - Knock on wood. The key thing is to walk with confidence, try to blend in (In VM that means simple clothes - shorts & T-shirts), and keep an eye on your surroundings. Since a visit there is relatively cheap do not carry too much money, or more then you can afford to lose. But this really holds true everywhere. Since I spend so much time here I am often here much more time then most of my friends. As a result I go many places alone, including walking to VM. I am sure that we can start a whole thread on members disagreeing with me but VM - to me - is "relatively" safe. However, if you are not used to a walking through very run down slum type of areas you might feel a little insecure.
By Laguy on Friday, June 22, 2007 - 02:27 pm: Edit |
I agree VM is relatively safe, and posted the same previously (even commenting, as Lovingmarvin does, that I feel safer there than in Copa at night).
I don't, however, agree the area outside the VM compound is relatively safe although I do not have first-hand experience there except for once walking through the area with a Brasileiro who was very tough and probably wouldn't get messed with. I base my conclusion about the surrounding area's danger on the many warnings I have received from Brasileiros about it.

Wow, from duplas every day in the top termas to busing out to Villa Mimosa for R$20 programs. That's a steep fucking slope of dispair right there

Lovingmarvin , thanks for the info, maybe I'll just take a taxi my first till i get to know the area.
VM is high on list next time I am in Rio.
By Lovingmarvin on Monday, June 25, 2007 - 07:47 pm: Edit |
Just to set expectations for you first time visitors - this is the slum area. Not pretty. I went there again tonight, sessioned with a regular - left happy - total bill R$33 ($R25 session + R$4.00 round trip bus + $R4.00 Beer) = aprx $16.00 USD. Across the street there is a good restaurant. My buddy and I had a great dinner - steak, fries, rice, and chopp for about R$32 = $16USD/2 = $8 a piece. Pretty good. Much cheaper then Ipanema! Monday is very weak, but still has some limited action....picks back up by Thursday, peaking Friday and Saturday.

I stumbled across some interesting video of Vila Mimosa from 1953. Not surprisingly, the quality is pretty poor, but it's an interesting glimpse of the old place.
The original Vila Mimosa was located in Centro but was razed not too long after this video was made:

BTW, I saw no sign of Jaguar in this video.
Another interesting and more recent piece from the new VM is this music video filmed there:

Thanks Bwana, interesting stuff. I must say though I thought the soundtrack in the 1953 video was vastly superior to the one in the more recent music video.

Laguy-
I'm with you!
Quite a difference 50+ years make. In the 1953 video the putas are running for cover and closing windows to avoid the camera. In Jag's photos in 2007 they are stripping nude in the streets to display their wares for the camera. Who says we haven't made progress?!
Sandman-
I only go to VM for the fine cuisine. I prefer the real-a-minute places in Centro for fast-foda.
By Lovingmarvin on Monday, July 16, 2007 - 06:53 pm: Edit |
It is truly not a very large place...less then half a block of action. Go with little and no expectations and you should be fine :-)
By Jaguar on Thursday, July 19, 2007 - 07:11 am: Edit |
Mo hombre3,
I'm in the process of writing an indepth report on Vila Mimosa covering all my trips there as well as photos.
Unfortunately, I can't name specific places to go while there because most of the places don't have names. Also, the girls are somewhat fluid, in that they may cover several bars at the same time. From all indicatings they employ "flexible scheduling" in VM, so it's very difficult to predict when a particular girl will be at a certain bar.
As you can see, there are enormous problems writing about VM. It's almost as difficult as tracking polar bears or the homeless in NYC.

More research, that's whats needed. Jag, I think we just scratched the surface, not to mention contributed to the local VM economy with all those beers and of course made many new friends. Can you say "GDP" (Mr. Rogers style)
The fact that Diversity and I kept disappearing should attest to what golden opportunites abound there for the adventerous.
Other than pissing a few of the GDP's off with your cigar, I think they like you coming there.

You guys can always have the taxi driver drop me off at 4x4 on the way to VM. However, I think my chances of going there are slim to about zero.

Great find, that 50's film was very interesting.

Do you have to pay a fine or exit fee to the house, if you take a girl back to your apartment? (Before her shift ends)
By Copperfieldkid on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 07:17 am: Edit |
The girls seem pretty free to do what they want there, but no definitive answer to your question. I did make arrangements to meet one later that evening, my recommendation if you find a hottie you want to spend time with.
By Catocony on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 08:55 am: Edit |
I wonder what the take-out fee would be on a R$25 hooker? Bus fare?
By Thumper on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 02:23 pm: Edit |
I really dont know if they are free to just come and go at will. If a nice, young and attractive girl just takes off from work, the pimps/house makes no money off of her. I know this was the main reason why Little Jimmy got beat up at VM last year. He was taking brand new girls out of VM for a week at a time and only paying them 200R (For the entire week) After a while, the pimps got upset and decided to teach him a lesson.
By Laguy on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 02:54 pm: Edit |
If it is bus fare it is probably to Help, where some of them end up later in the night.
By Copperfieldkid on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 03:24 pm: Edit |
Laguy, that actually is somewhat the case, two I "spoke with" were going to Help later in that night....and when I inquired the price they would ask at Help: 300RI Hmmmn 25 ri at VM same girl (although it was for all night) 300, now that's real marketing.
By Jaguar on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 05:29 pm: Edit |
I don't think there's any barfine as such. But from what I can understand without speaking Portuguese, the girls will go home with you for around R$150 for the whole night. Like CFK says, if you meet them at Terasco or Help, it will cost you double.
Jag
By Catocony on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 05:40 pm: Edit |
So, R$150 to go home with you, and R$200 to make them not go home with you?
By Jaguar on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 06:31 pm: Edit |
Cat,
Last year at Carnaval I had one garota quote me R$400 short time or R$300 all night. When I asked her why the inverted price structure, she said, "Because I can get a good night's sleep with you." I took up her offer and planned to have torrid, kinky sex with her all night long. Obviously she was smarter than me because after the best thirty seconds of sex she ever had, I fell sound asleep.
Jag
By Latinalover on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - 01:41 am: Edit |
I have learned over the years to approach the all nighter with caution. It seems no matter how good they look during the negotiation process, after an hour or two, I want them to leave. I now wait until after the sex to propose that option.
By Copperfieldkid on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - 12:37 pm: Edit |
Latinalover, excellent strategy! can save on downrange problems and excuses later, best option a guy can have.
By Bwana_dik on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - 03:03 pm: Edit |
That strategy works especially well if you pull a girl from Help (or a T) very late, when the odds are they can't score another program. I've done it many times (usually with termas girls). In about 70% of the cases they just agree to stay for no additional $$, and in the other cases the surcharge has always been 50 reais (all I offer). Given that the option that late in the evening is usually "go sleep in my own crowded, shitty, non-aircon apartment and settle for 150/200 reais versus stay with this bozo in his nice apartment, get a good night's sleep, and make another 50 reais in exchange for fucking him in the morning" they usually opt to stay with the bozo.
By Elgrancombo on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 - 11:36 pm: Edit |
I agree with that strategy. Unless the chemistry is exceptionally good, I don't like a chick to stay overnight. But if the chemistry is really that good, she's not going to ask for any more $$.
