I stayed at this hotel last week (3 nights). It was $R408 total for the three nights. There is a Citibank on the same block. The neighborhood is a little dicey but the afternoons are no problem. It's close (but not quite close enough) to the Republica metro station. The walk is only a few blocks but it feels longer at night with luggage. It's basically located right in the middle of centro on Avenida Sao Joao so it's great if you like walking around downtown in the afternoons. Free wifi and staff was all very cool. I would repeat but I think I'll go even more low end on my next trip. I've scouted out a couple of love motels around downtown that might save me a little cash next time.
