While you are there you just have to ride the gondola up to the top of Santo Domingo it's really cool. I took a ride up with my novia her friend and sky dog we had a blast. Till this other family got in with us on the way down and sky dog and I started flirting with the mom and daughters. My novia through a temper tantrum and pouted for about an hour.

Medellin really isn't a tourist town. Scooby's recommendation is probably the only thing. Maybe a zoo or something as well.

Go downtown during the day, the shopping is pretty cheap. The rest of the time should be reserved for bedroom activities.

Medellin is not a foreign tourist town. It is, however, a wonderful Colombian tourist town. I keep discovering new things every trip. I spent Semana Santa in a waterpark resort north of town.

All you need to do is ask any Paisa. They are very proud of Antioquia and more than happy to share its pleasures.

TomTom, I agree..Pueblito Paisa, the Exploratorium, Parque de los piez descalsos and the Metro cable were a few of the places outside of Poblado that my novia showed me last time I was in town. The paisas are usually very proud of the city and area and make great guides.

The Mansion update:

If you read my last posts, I stayed in a larger room this time. The one with the hot tub. I still think it has some of the same problems.

What was different this time was Greg. He seemed way burned out on running the place. He was away during part of my visit, but he didn't party with us at all when we were there.

However, I did not have any negative interactions with him when I was there. I have seen a few incidents on CH and WSG where people have been having problems with him. I just have not seen it.

People above have alluded to his drinking, he does party a lot. My exposure is pretty limited so I can't comment.

Marisol is apparently not working at the Mansion anymore.

She is the tall black girl that spoke perfect english that worked at the front desk.

Marisol works up at the Castillo, she goes down to the Mansion to fill in on Saturdays. I just talked to her last week they were having a big wedding. She also is teaching english classes in the mornings before work.

I think Greg is cutting back. He's getting older and busy and can't party with all the guests like he use to, he's not college age anymore, that would burn anyone out. He also just started the tours and that could be the reason he's gone alot now.

I can guess all day long but the best way is to just ask him, he has always been straight forward with me.

When I spoke with Marisol in June, I could tell that she really needed to do something more mentally stimulating.

She's a smart girl. I anticipate that Lina will do the same eventually.

Working around hookers and mongerers all day is really low end work that I think she's more capable than that.

Frankly, if I can open an import business into Colombia, I may hire her away from Greg.

Medellin Mansion Is a JOKE!!

Greg is a drunken fool and DOES not respect the Locals! I have been to Medellin 23 times in 15 months. My average stay is 14 days. So trust me I know what Im talking about!

I and my friends wouldnt give that Australian a dime in Medellin! He has NO connections and even his partner Robert has been banned from entering the best 2 strip clubs in Medellin for trying to recruit girls out of there to work for them at the Mansion! They (greg & robert) were even warned "not to fuck with his girls too" by the owner of Loutron!

It could be nothing more than someone forgot to pay a bill, but both the Mansion web site and the El Castilo web site are down.

Perhaps Sniper, or KB151 would know what's going on with the Mansion. All I know for sure is that I would NOT stay at the Mansion if I were to return to Medellin.

I just came back last night. The Mansion is still open as well as Roberts club "Chicago". Although I never see anyone in there so I'm not sure how it is doing.

I'm only doing the non-pro scene in Colombia now so I don't hang at the Mansion. I stayed at my apartment. A matter of fact I didn't even go to Mangos this trip!

I'm going to try to swing a Rio trip (I have not done that in 5 years) with a few guys in July if I can swing it.

Well there seems to be a lot of controversy about the Mansion and Greg. I just returned in July from a 5 night stay at the Mansion which also included his famous Sunday BBQ so here is my two cents. I thought the Mansion was operated very well. I was very happy with Greg and had no problems at all. They rented me a cell phone which was very useful during my stay there. I also though Robert was nice although I dealt mostly with Greg during my stay there. Lina and Alejandra in the front office are two very beautiful women but even more importantly where very attentive to my needs and comfort.

The girls in the kitchen cooked me a great breakfast (made to order) every morning and my room was fantastic and always spotless. They will do your laundry and not charge you. I’ll go into more detail in my report but the BBQ party was a blast and Greg always has beautiful women hanging around. He did a Mangos run one night for all the guests in the house and we had a lot of fun. He organized other tours both touristy and monger. Although I was doing my own thing most of the time I know the other guests there were having a blast with his tours. Greg was always very professional.

The Mansion is located in a great neighborhood and is walking distance to ATM’s shopping centers, restaurants, etc. I loved Medellin (also visited Cali on this trip), and I loved staying at the Mansion. I will be back to Medellin and will stay at the Mansion.

Any updates on the Mansion? I have booked there but have not paid my deposit yet.They have offered me room 8 , rate US$82.50 per night including tax. I would like a little more info before I finalize everything. On my trip to BA last year I discovered what a disaster booking into the wrong hotel can be.

Why are you paying tax in a PRIVATE home establishment? Im sure the dont have an occupational license..lol

They are a licensed hotel as far as I know. And I believe that they collect and pay the Colombian IVA of around 16.5%.

There are exemptions from the IVA for private apartments. Of course the hotel lobby is attempting to close that exemption especially in Cartagena.

The Mansion is way overpriced these days, the best bet is to rent an apt.

I can understand Gregs frustation, guys stay at other places and on a daily basis try and sneak int MM to hook up with some of the girls at the pool or join a road trip to centra or just hang out because were they are staying is just too boring.

I'd have to agree with Isawal, as a first time Medellin monger, the Mansion/Castillo is a no brainer. Boyd took us on a tour of some casas today that would have been pretty hard to find if you didn't know the place... I'll post more in my report when I get back...

I just got back in from a morning run to centra with Boyd visited a place or three, had a fun time with a cutie and then went walkabout and did a little shopping. Centra by day at lease must have got a lot safer over the last few years I felt safe and Boyd, being a total pervert is an excellent guide..

I always stay at Castillo. I usually travel to Medellin by myself and I can meet others to head to the casas or strip clubs. Boyd is cool and helpful too. Staying at a apartment you are on your own during the downtime.

We have a map of Elcentral. I do tours for free. Usually i ask the guest a few questions. What type of girls do you like. I want to not waste time and take you to the ones i think you will like. Some guys want higher end so we go to the medium places;energy,abydos,blue room, channels. The biggest things are socializing with the guys, great info, pool party sunday. Semi-pros

Just read in a non-monger Colombia board some interesting Mansion related "news"

I don't contribute much here, I monger twice a year at most, but I think CH members might want to read up on this. I can't personally guarantee it's 100% true, this is just stuff that I read on another site. Hopefully people will respond and clear up any inaccuracies.

In a post on another monger board, I had mentioned that the construction around the Mansion, with apartment towers nearby, was probably leading to problems with people noticing the going-ons, including the infamous Sunday parties.

Turns out my concerns may very well be on the mark.

According to what I read on this Colombia board, a few weeks ago there was a 15-minute tv segment from a local news channel that talked about gringo tourists living it up in Medellin, and SHOWED FOOTAGE of the Mansion pool area from one of those newish buildings overlooking the Mansion.

According to one of the posters on that other site, that segment, and 15 minutes is a long time for television, portrayed most of the tourists in a VERY BAD light, visiting MDE only for drugs, hookers, and wild parties.

If tv footage of the pool area isn't disturbing enough, it turns out the tv crew TRIED TO ENTER the Mansion! One of the security guards at the MM, is now no longer working there as he was filmed denying entry to the tv crew, not to mention some of the other staff that left because of these privacy concerns.

Now, I don't like to wildly speculate, but my slightly paranoid mind can certainly imagine DAS keeping an eye on the Mansion at this time. . . maybe even more than that as USA and Colombia have good relations; I'll leave it up to you to imagine the possibilities here. . .

I suppose it was only a matter of time, with the surrounding construction boom, but it looks like the wild days and nights at the MM are over, at least for the time being.

To me this sounds very serious if it's all true. Maybe this is just more wild speculation on my part, but work with me here for a few more steps:

1) The public is now aware

2) whether they really are or not, the local elites of Poblado have to act like they're offended

3) . . . and the local politicians and authorities may very well have to "make an example" of certain foreign-owned venues in order to look like they're "doing something about the problem." It seems extremely unlikely, but I can certainly imagine a business like this being shut down by applying certain external "pressures."

I've never been to the Mansion. This is NOT an attack on Greg, or anyone else involved with the MM, or has stayed there, or at similar venues. I would have loved to have partied at the MM, but I have local friends who live nearby, so it just wasn't kosher, and this recent news now makes it absolutely impossible for me.

I suspect the MM will have to move to a more secluded/private area within the year. Or maybe they can construct something, and make the pool "indoors." If no one from outside can observe, then there's a chance things can go back to normal.

It's too bad to see a unique monger institution like the Mansion have to mellow out. I should have tried to visit when it was in its prime. I think only Blackbeard's near Puerto Plata in the DR is similar in concept. The termas in Rio are awesome of course, but that's a different setup, you can't sleep overnight at a Rio terma.

Finally, I don't want to get involved in a flame war over this but it looks like the gringo's rep is getting lower in MDE.

Try to keep a low profile people, or the situation is just going to continue to get worse. The Mansion started out low profile, but now seems to have ended up with quite a high profile. Too much construction nearby, and too many barrio and street chicas popping in and out in a neighborhood that they would otherwise have NO REASON to be in except for the mansion.

Guys, don't leave your brains at your home airport. MDE is still good, but hopefully will get better by next year if the exchange rate can normalize a bit and these other issues fade away somewhat.

Wile I was at MM in May Greg did mansion that the action at the pool might have to be brought in doors after the construction of the building across the road is complete as the apartments will overlook the pool.

Phunluv you are correct you should have visited it in its prime...but its not too late.

Wow, Detrimental info and/or hearsay to all you Mansion proprietors. (IN the other group) All you mansion people should read it then draw your own conclusions. Starting with Phuns story and a direct rebuttal from Greg and other concerned past proprietors of his establishment. Im kind of relieved that I never had the urge or need to stay there.

There are lots of new places to stay opening in Medellin and many very upscale apartments at very affordable prices available for rent.

This is a very conservative town. They are very friendly towards gringo tourists......but don't flaunt it in their face.

They like news headlines about something other than drugs, violence, the FARC, political corruption or other news items that they have been seeing for the past 45 years.

Just do not become one of them!

Use your common sense and act like a visitor here. You can have all the fun you want but just be cool about it. Discretion will go a long ways to making your Medellin visit more enoyable.

I do not normally post on here but as someone who travels a lot to Medellin I really got to jump into this conversation.

What the Greg does is perfectly legal in Colombia. He rents rooms to people. The fact that there are lots of prostitutes in his hotel is absolutely irrelevant under Colombian law. The other hotel owners love Greg because he keeps all the morons out of their hotels. The government also loves Greg because it allows them to monitor the 6-packers by keeping them all in one location.

Greg should be given credit for all of his hard work. It is not easy setting up a business in a place like Colombia. It is a lot of hard work especially when he has to deal with the type of people that he does.

I hear a lot of bad things about Greg and the Mansion but most of these are just stories that are made up by a small group of losers. The fact is Greg lives large in Medellin. He owns a big house and has lots of pretty girls. Most of the guys who travel to Medellin do so because they are completely broke Walmart employees or welfare recipients. They need to go to Medellin to get pussy because they cannot get laid anywhere in the USA. American women hate these guys because they have been total failures all they lives so they are bitter and hate the world.

These guys show up in Medellin searching for 20. 000 peso girls and then see this Australian running around with 50 girls living like a King in a big mansion. These guys get really pissed off not because Greg is doing anything wrong but because they to cannot live just like Greg does. As as result they start making up stories and dreaming of the day the mansion gets shut down. Indeed, this very story started on another message board that caters to the poor and unhappy gringos who live in Colombia.

Colombia does not really care about stopping prostitution or sex tourism. The law is very clear about prostitution and it is very common practice in all cities in Colombia. However, the City of Medellin does care about the display and appearance of prostitution. There are certain laws in place to keep prostitution regulated and in certain zones. This is why places like FACE II are in San Deigo and not Parque Lleras

The types of gringos who come to Medellin are too stupid to understand certain social codes that are practiced in Colombia but I will try to explain it to you all here.

Picture an American ghetto be-atch. Think of the most fat, most ugly, illiterate, crack smoking, smelly, pot bellied, loud mouthed ghetto queen you can imagine. Now imagine dragging this ghetto queen into a five star, $500 a plate, restaurant in Manhattan. Imagine how all the rich people having diner would react to this intrusion on their evening. The rich people are trying to enjoy their evening and spending a lot of money to do so in an exclusive place but you have just fucked up their evening by bringing your ghetto queen into their space. They are trying to have a nice quiet time but your ghetto queen is smoking her stogy saying "mo fo mudda fooker" really loud.

Now most of you guys think you found a little princess in Medellin. I have read your pathetic reports about how you found a "special girl" down at Majorista, yada, yada, yada. Well I can assure you that you have got yourself something equal in a Colombian perspective to the ghetto queen from the United States. Most of you guys do no speak Spanish well enough to realise that your princess’s use of language is equal to the "mo fo mudda fooker" American ghetto be-atch. Most of you guys do not understand that her hooker boots stand out in Parque Lleras as much as a ghetto queen would stand out in the $500 dollar a plate Manhattan restaurant.

No one in Medellin gives a shit about what goes on behind the closed doors of the mansion. But they do give a shit when they go out to their favorite restaurant only to see a group of Walmart employees parading around a bunch of street hookers. Colombians are very conscious of their class system. A rich Colombian man may have a prepago but never a low class one. A rich Colombian man will get himself a University student and pay her thousands and thousands of dollars a month to be his special girl. He will still maintain his family with children for outwards appearance and never be seen anywhere in public with his prepago. This is how it works. This is how real players play the game. A real player would not be seen dead standing around Majorista talking to tick invested street girls.

What we need to do to fix this perception is start paying the girls a lot more money. Hooker inflation has been working great in Colombia. Give the girl 200. 000 pesos and tell her "baby you are worth it". Let the girls all start to think they deserve more and more. When one girl gets paid more than the others she goes and brags about it to all of her friends. Soon all of her friends also think they are worth more and the overall asking price quickly goes up. We need to encourage this to keep the 6-packer gringos out of Colombia. I personally have been telling all my girls that the gringos who pay less than 150. 000 are poor guys who cannot afford medicine even when they get diseases from the street girls. I warn them that if they fuck some poor gringo that they could get a disease and I will not be giving them one more peso of my money if they get sick. I have got a few girls completely afraid of gringos now. I hope this rumor will spread like wildfire.

The point here is once the girls all get up to the 150. 000-200. 000 price point then all the Walmart employee gringos will go somewhere else. Once this happens then the government in Medellin will have no interest in sex tourism anymore because the bottom feeder girls will no longer be paraded around Parque Lleras since the poor gringos will be gone. It will be a great day.

I noticed that the prices have gone up in the mansion. This practice should also be encouraged. I hope Greg goes and looks at the prices of the other hotels in El Poblado. Most are well over $120 USD a night. I hope Greg increases his prices with his new concept as a boutique hotel. The other boutique hotels in El Poblado are much more expensive than what the mansion charges. Increasing the prices at the mansion will instantly get rid of most of the troublemaker clients. Life will become more simple and the mansion will make more money. With the value added services offered at the mansion the price per day should be much higher than the Intercontinental. The mansion needs to take a look at "Viking Resort" which charges around $1300 USD a day for an all exclusive package to get an idea of how much people will pay for quality chicas.

I hope everyone stands behind the mansion at this critical moment in it’s history. I have stayed there several times and would like to return some day in the future. It is nice to see the mansion’s business model moving from giant frat house to boutique hotel and I will be happy to support the new concept even if it is much more expensive. I would like to be able to someday go to the mansion and see upstanding gentlemen there instead of the frat house boys I met last time.

In a few years from now I suspect Medellin will be full of high class gringos and expensive but beautiful prepaggos. It will be very similar to Buenos Aries but more discrete. We should all strive for this end. If anyone is going to ruin Medellin it is going to be the Walmart gringos who have been showing up in droves lately. When we see other gringos acting the fool in the most conspicuous places we need to point out to them that their behavior is unacceptable. If the gringo does not want to listen then we should give him a few kicks in the head until he does. We cannot let Medellin be ruined by these guys.

The problems mentioned earlier with the Mansion cast no aspersions on the management. Nor do they suggest that the problem is with the clientele of the Mansion. The problem is one of location and architecture: neighbors are not thrilled at the idea of their children looking out the window and seeing strip shows taking place around the Mansion's pool, etc. Given the development that's occurred around the Mansion, Greg and colleagues have a couple of options: tone down the parties to PG-13 or build an awning or other covering to provide privacy.

Of course, there are knuckleheads everywhere who will act inappropriately. Whining won't get rid of them. But it seems that the author of the above post is one of those guys who "found" a destination he likes and wants to close the door behind him and keep it to himself. Well, tuff shit, guy.

I'm at the Mansion now, and all is well... I will be returning. Regardless of the naysayers...

The Mansion is a whore house a nicely decorated whore house but thats about it. Greg is a total asshole, Robert is pretty cool & I have never met Boyd but I heard he's nice guy. The girls there are pretty hot but very expensive & I believe the house gets a kickback for letting them hook there. I believe there are alot better places to stay, I have been to Medellin 6 times in the last 2 years I stayed at the Mansion the first time but have not been back since.

I rent an apartment. It's so much better, you can do whatever you want & the only rules are the ones you make. I have a friend in Medellin who gets me apartments at Colombian prices not the high prices that they call gringo rates.

My last time in Medellin for 5 weeks over christmas and new years, I rented a 2 bedroom apt. included was a weight room in the apt. The place had two balconies one in the master bedroom and the other in the front room both with great views of the city from the 15th floor. The master bedroom had a king size bed & the second BR had a double. The bath room of which there were three, had a shower large enough to have an orgy in. It had internet axcess, cable tv, free local & international phone calls and once a week free maid service. The complex had a pool and beautiful local non pro girls were always hanging around ripe for the picking. The best thing about the place was the price $450usd per month.

So I could never justify staying at a place as expensive as the mansion and pay the inflated prices for girls they charge.

My post is to draw attention to the real reason we all hear so many negative stories about the mansion. It is not that anything really bad ever happens at the mansion. Indeed, there was NO television program as reported on PBH and DAS did NOT raid the mansion. The stories were completely fabricated by the "Anti-Mansion-Crew" just as are about 95% of all stories I hear about the mansion.

I said it before and I will say it again. The real reason we hear so many negative stories about the mansion is because most of the poor gringos who travel to Medellin for sex cannot afford to stay at the mansion. I picture these guys sitting at home right now in the United States with a tube of lube in one hand and the mouse in the other. If Walmart Joe is lucky he will find a photo of one of Greg’s girls. It will then be time for some self-loving and a sticky keyboard. All the while Walmart Joe is wishing, no indeed he is DREAMING to someday live the life of Greg. However, at $7. 95 an hour he knows this is never going to happen.

Walmart Joe saves up all his money, month after month, until he finally has enough money to take a trip to the mansion. He spends hours searching the Internet to save 10 bucks on the flight. He has his cheap $40 room booked at the mansion. He has his photos of Majorista girls that he thinks he can find for 20. 000 pesos. Walmart Joe is ready to roll. Finally he will get himself some of that Colombian pussy he has self-lubricated to all those months.

When he shows up at the mansion he gets a bit of a shock. Greg is not the suave player he thought he was. In fact Greg is a little ruff on the edges. There have even been some rumours that Greg might consume a little too much alcohol.

But see, Greg has money and nothing else matters in Colombia. Greg is one rich Australian who owns a couple large houses in El Poblado. He has people waiting for him hand and foot. He has at least 500 girls on call. He is the King. A man with too much pussy if there ever was one.

Suddenly Walmart Joe starts to get upset. In his mind he screams "IT IS NOT FAIR! IT IS NOT FAIR! " Not only is this Australian living the life Walmart Joe has always wanted but he is also charging Walmart Joe to stay at the mansion. The Australian is making money from Walmart Joe! This has to be stopped! How can this be? Walmart Joe worked 7 hours to earn the $40 to pay Greg for only one night. "IT IS NOT FAIR! IT IS NOT FAIR! "

Very quickly Walmart Joes checks out of the mansion and finds himself a dump hotel down in Central. He then posts on ISG he found a place "closer to the action" while excluding the fact that the "action" includes living amongst the homeless downtrodden of Medellin. In a short time he finds himself a small group of other Walmart Joes who are all living "closer to the action" weather it be in Central or Majorista. Together with all the other Walmart Joes they form the official "Anti-Mansion-Crew".

As they sit in the pollution filled streets their conversation goes like this:

"That Greg guy is a real a-hole"

"Ya, ha ha ha (Beavis and Butthead laugh) he sucks! "

"I hope they close that place down! "

"Ya, me too, ha ha ha" (B&B once again. Or maybe Sailor2006 laugh)

The Anti-Mansion-Crew then begin to make plans on how they can bring down the mansion. The whole point here is Greg (or anyone at the mansion) has never done anything against the AMC. These people are just petty, spiteful, little cockroaches who have failed at everything in life. America women spit on these guys. You can often read their anti-American women posts on ISG to get an idea of how bitter they are. But they are not only bitter at American women. They are bitter at the world. They are bitter at anyone who has more than they do. They know they are losers and they wear it on their sleeves.

Now. I know this has been a long post. But these are the guys the City of Medellin wants out of the county. These are the guys who go dragging their flea infested street girls around Parque Llerras. These are the guys who write the endless spew of bullshit allegations against the mansion. I have met several of them and the negative comments about the mansion never end.

If you see anyone post on here a comment about how nice Majorista girls are you can be certain it is one of these guys. Majorist girls are dirty, glue sniffing predators who would stab you in the back if they thought they could get away with it. But these guys just cannot afford a mansion girl so they justify what they are doing with the street girls by making them sound nice.

To prove my point about Majorista girls let me explain something about VD. If you get gonorrhoea in Colombia you can go buy the magic pill at any pharmacy and have it killed in about 12-24 hours. The magic pill costs about 200. 000 pesos in Colombia. If you cannot afford the magic pill you can buy antibiotics that require to be taken 3 times a day for 7-14 days. The antibiotics are cheap and can be obtained for free at some public clinics. The girls who are fucking for 20. 000 pesos do not have the money or the education to seek out the magic pill. Neither do the 10 taxi drivers a day who have sex with them. When these girls get sick they go buy the cheapest antibiotics possible and keep on working regardless of the consequences to their clients. So do their clients who tend to be Colombian taxi drivers and Walmart Gringos.

Prepago girls are making $4000 USD a month minimal. They know if they show up at their Colombian sugar daddy’s house with a smelly pussy that they will not be getting any more sugar. They make the investment and buy the magic pill or ask Papichulo to buy it for them. If one of the rich Colombians gets VD he also will buy the magic pill in a second since he cannot risk infecting his wife. As a result the prepaagos are much cleaner then the taxi driver screwing street girls. This should be OBVIOUS but from all the posts from the Walmart Gringos it seems to be overlooked often.

Right now a cheap prepago is about 150. 000 pesos which is about $75-$80 USD. A Walmart Gringo making $8 an hour would have to work more than a day’s shift to screw a prepago for 1 hour. IT IS NOT FAIR! IT IS NOT FAIR!

We have to get rid of these guys. There is no way to explain to them how to act with class. They will destroy Medellin eventually. The only way I can think of to get them out of the city is to make the place too expensive for them to come here. WE ALL NEED TO SUPPORT HOOKER INFLATION! Do all you can to get the chicas over $100 USD. That price point scares away the Walmart Gringos faster than a Kryptonite condom scares away Superman!

I had a good experience at the mansion when I visited there before. I was only there for a few days and it was a good way to get to know the city, meet some new friends, and get pay-4-play action. Actually, the frat house environment was alot of fun even if I had not done one girl there - in the end I met a friend for life. That in itself was worth the trip. An apartment or hotel is great, but hanging out with a bunch of like minded guys on daily excursion is even more fun. just my two cents.
