Never Mind I found it. Thanks!!!
Athos-- I would recommend going thru Blame it on Rio, Marrianna, she got the rate 168r (which i also got walking in off street) but nu charge for garota, everyone i know of staying there is paying 60r for garota. Guys are walking back from Help late at night, 1 guy told me he got lost and was weondering around, eventually went back to Help and grab a cab. Last 3 nights i got taxis for 4r, 4r, 5r. Take a right turn to the sde street and wait for taxis coming off of Atlantico ave., they will use the meter.

Does anyone know of a garota friendly hotel (similiar to rio roiss or debret) in Ipanema? My preference is to stay there vs. in copa as it seems to be a nicer neighborhood and quieter. I can't seem to find a thread here that talks about hotels or even apts. in Ipanema-thanks in advance for any help.
By Athos on Saturday, February 15, 2003 - 01:44 pm: Edit |
Arpador(sp?) Inn has been mentioned as garota friendly in Ipanema.
There is a new Parthenon right by Centaurus looks like but not sure about status. Their email was not even working.

thx athos:
i have heard of the aproador but heard it is somewhat run down - yeah, I am a picky guy. the princess copacabana and the vilora is of interest to me but mixed reports about the guest fees..still researching this and ideas in ipanema.
Crafter--- You could just book somewhere in Copa for a couple of days and check out the hotels in ipanema when you get here. That's what i did, i got better prices walking in off the street than on web sites.
Greetings. Anyone got any suggestions on apart hoteis in Copacabana, for a one week rental AS CHEAP AS FUCKING POSSIBLE, as long as they are decent? I emailed a hotel I found in my lonely planet book, and was offered a room at R$85 a night, If I can do an aparto at that, better..
I would need the place from March 30 to April 6, and the last two days a buddy would be staying there too.
You do realize that R$85 is only about US$25?
I doubt if there are any apartments available for that.
I know, but I am out of the loop on Rio, having not been there for 10 years. I need to know what they do charge for aptos, be it 25 or 250.
No problem. I have paid as little as US$40 and seen apartments that were easily worth US$150 per night. Try contacting Don and Rhonda at riotrips@hotmail.com. They handle several apartments and should be able to give you some help. The prices vary widely acording to the location and time of year so you should check for your specific dates.

Powerslave,
I looked at apartments and R85 is a good price if it is in Copa and within three blocks of the beach. The best price I got was 45 dollars. Can you attach the information on the R85 apartment? JI was just curious.

just a couple questions for you Rio experts. Anyone here ever rented an apartment from David Schneider of gringomanagement? Also, anyone know anything about the Rio Othon Palace Hotel? Do they allow guests at this hotel and for how much? any information would be appreciated. thanks

Besides being next to Help Disco, it sucks.
Looks good from out side but their room were dirty and had little ant like bugs all over the room, and when I complained to front desk about it, they did absolutely nothing, if you want to bring a girl in they will charge you extra $R100.

Msorayas,
My friend rented a one bedroom from Gringomangement. Since it was the low season he was only charged 40.00 usd a night. I checked out the room. It was pretty clean with new furniture. It was one block behind Help disco right next to the Millenium restaurant. I think David is from NYC and has a relative that collects the rent money and gives you the key. According to my friend he promptly responded to all his emails.
Good luck

anyone know anything about a place called Hotel Toledo? Does it allow guests and is the place any good? It seems like a budget hotel

I am trying to get an opinion on which hotel to stay at:
Princess Copacabana or Orla Hotel ??
Orla is beach front and you can have a room with a view. Orla rooms are smaller and older .
Princess is 2 blocks off the beach. Brand new remodeling with suites for the same price as rooms. It is quite nice. Our recommendation.
Guests fees are close at both.
Happy to make the reservation for you if you need assistance.

Anyone have any experiences or information on Leblon Palace hotel. Specifically important is do they allow and/or charge for garota visitors.
Thanks
Has anyone on the board stayed at a hotel in downtown Rio? Is this a safe area to get hotel at? I was considering getting a hotel downtown, any info is appreciated
By Badseed on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 - 12:07 pm: Edit |
Dude:
There's only one choice for downtown hotels, IMHO. That's "Magic Palace Hotel" in Gloria: http://www.magicpalacehotel.com.br/
if you look at the pics, you'll notice that it sure looks a lot like the Magic "Love" Motel, and why's that? Becuase it's the same place! Like I've been writing for months, the true Brazilian monger will just stay for a few days in a motel, why the hell not? Cheaper than a 4-star hotel, same service level, and NO problem bringing back girls. Magic just stepped it up a notch and started advertising themslevs as a hotel (with higher rates!) Fuck that, go to their regular website (it's posted aroudn here somewhere's I'm too lazy to look for it) and look at their "pernoite" rates. Then call the hotel number, tell them you wnat to reserve "X" days, tell them you're going to pay the pernoite rates at a maximum, and you want to negotiate a extended stay rate, and if you get any problmes, ask to speak with Roberto, the manager. Or maybe just speak to Roberto in the first place.
Either way, it's the ideal monger's hangout - great roomservice, jacuzzi tub, right near the real action, just a short cab or Metro ride from Copa, and totally girl-friendly. Only downside - no view (unless you like looking at Termas Aeroporto) but who cares?
Enjoy!

Actually i was thinking of staying at the Rio Presidente at this address: Rua Pedro I, 19
Cep.: 20060-050 - Centro - Rio de Janeiro - RJ -Brasil-anyone know much about this area-i hear its a very nice hotel at a good rate but it is near northenn Rio which can be very dangerous. Any info is appreciated
By Badseed on Thursday, February 26, 2004 - 10:06 am: Edit |
Dude: Don't know anything about this particular hotel, just it's location - it's smack dab in the middle of downtown, which is a dead zone as soon as it turns dark - nothing there and dangerous as it gets late.
BS
Somebody on this board stayed at a hotel in Centro that was overlooking Praca Floriana and was like $25.00 US. a night. Can anybody help refresh my memory on the name of the place?
Sterling.

at praca maua(centro) the hotels is about 30-40 reais.small rooms ,but they have cable tv.a/c. showers.
powerslave
for US$ 40 per night you can get a room in my place, and hanging aound me can get you maior savings with girls.
It depends on your taste in girls. I recently had 4 girls for a total of 110 (3 times in Copa massage parlors for 30 each, one downtown for R$ 20 (I overpaid on that one)). All 18-20 y, no baby, great body.
Then paid 150 R$ for a 5 girl orgy (ok, we had 5 guys also, that what made it cheap).
But sometimes I splurge and pay R$ 150 on a girl.
www.telefonema.net has apartments for about R$ 85, if they don't reply to email you can contact me directly
email me at 1234567@innocent.com
send your US phone number and time to call. I have unlimited calls to US and Canada, so I can call you to talk for free (now is that cheap enough?)

I will be in Rio at the end of the month and I am interested in meeting 18 year old girls with great bodies and in having fun at good prices. Could you say a little more about how you are able to find these gems?
Has anyone here ever rented an apartment from marina? She's been in the business for a long time, yet I've heard very little about her.
Thanks

Berger,
I doubt if too many mongers are going to stay in a hostel. You can spend US$45 a night for a pretty nice hotel, so what do you get by saving $25 or so? A shitty bed and no privacy? I guess you could as long as you left your mongering to termas and love hotels, but then again if you're shelling out cash for that, why are you staying in a hostel?
Does anyone have any information on www.rioapartments.com ?
They seem to be really nice and competitively priced.
Please let me know.
Thanks!
By Jurgen on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 - 03:44 pm: Edit |
I tried www.rioapartments.com during a prior trip in mid 2003. When they responded, the rates given were $10+ a night more than advertised on the website, which is often the case with many sites. Nevertheless, you should write them and ask for pricing during the specific time needed.

Has anyone ever stayed in GRINGOMANAGEMENT's Apt # 101? Please let me know if it get's your thumbs up.
Thanks!
By Lotech on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 - 07:37 pm: Edit |
I have stayed in GRINGOMANAGEMENT's Apt # 101 and I'm sure LOTS of others on this board have as well. It is Rua Miguel Lemos 8 #903. Location is great. My only issues, and this is pretty common in Rio apartments, were that the hot water left something to be desired and the bed wasn't that great. Check on these with David at Gringo Management. If these have been addressed, go for it!
-Lotech
Don't know what gringomanagement's apt 101 is... but if you're asking about Miguel Lemos 8 #903 I've stayed there and exactly echo Lotech's post. I'll add that the bedroom and livingroom area are clean enough, if the bathroom is only average.
But the real important thing here is the location. You simply can't find a better location. Other locations might be good enough, but they are not equal or better. If you're traveling solo this location is just too good. If you're a first-timer, then this location is perfect.
Here are a couple of pics from the veranda of the apartment I stayed in last week in Ipanema. I have now stayed in Ipa twice and will most likely stay there from now on. It's worth the extra money.
The apartment, Ipanema Tower, is on Prudente de Moraes between Joanna Angelica and Maria Quitara, one block from the praia. This view is of Lagoa, Corcovado and the north side of Ipanema.
The view is actually pretty good in person, I had a nice side view of the ocean and the praia in front of the Caesar Park hotel.
Looking for an exclusive apartment with a jacuzzi and amenities. Any one have any suggestions?

Alleycat740... Yes I do, but for when and for how long?
Looking for a fairly inexpensive hotel/apartment with a large full length mirror in Rio. Any recommendations?
I need help from anyone that has stayed in Brazil. I am going the week of Carnaval and I need a place in Ipanema close to Everest Rio Hotel. From Feb 2nd to Feb 10th. Thank You...

has anyone ever used RIO APARTMENTS.com seems they have very deluxe places all over rio the wbsites photo's look almost too good to be true
...just going back from Rio !
I stayed there for 8 days (4 days alone and 4 with a friend) in a simple but nice 2 bedroom appt, rented through BlameItOnRio, and located on 15 Xavier Silveira just above the agency at a rate of 60 $US a day.
It's on the same block that HELP Discoteca... very handy to bring in garotas.
There is no safe in the appt, but there is a guard at the entrance... like most appt have in this area.
Bobby have cheap appt like this one, not listed in his WebSite... inquire with him.
bobby@blameitonrio4travel.com
...I had a very nice stay !
I'll be back next year...
I need help to decide if the apartmant I want to rent is a good deal or not. Here is the link to the 2 BR apartment. This is 3 blocks from the beach at Barao da Torre and Farme de Amoedo.
http://www.globecondos.com/condo.php?cid=73&id=51
The guy wants to charge me 1200us for a total of 8 nights stay in May. As I'm splitting this with a friend, the cost is 75us/night per person or 150us total per night. Is this reasonable or am I being ripped?
Any comments appreciated.

US$150 a night is quite a bit for a two bedroom place four blocks from the beach. That apartment also looks pretty small.
A two bedroom place (standard) in Ipanema Tower will run around US$100 a night, and it's one block from the beach.
Catocony is right, US$150 is IMO expensive for a 2 bed apt that far from the beach given that you are going in May which is coming into the low season. Also isn't Farme de Amoedo the street where all the gays go to? I remember watching a footie game in the Sindicato do Chopp which IIRC is on it and there were tons of them about. If so it wouldn't be on my list of streets to stay on in Ipanema.
Catocony and Ardgneas thanks for the advice. I'll try to look for a place somewhere else.
How about this place near Rua Jangadeiros also on Barao da Torre for 125us daily?
http://www.globecondos.com/condo.php?cid=97&id=51
Ardgneas, thanks for warning me about the gay hangout. One would wonder why there are even such people in Brazil when there are all these amzing hot women. Anyway I don't really care cause more women for us!
By Hemp on Thursday, March 31, 2005 - 03:08 pm: Edit |
You might try Laura Fontanelli at rentflat@painet.com.br she has a lot of apartments in Ipanema and Barra. Her phone # is cell 8181-4662 or residence 2295-9613 she speaks excellent English. - Hemp
Could someone explain why the hotels in Rio have twin beds? Every single hotel I look up has a room with 2 single beds!!! If I select a single room in the reservation, I'm afraid I'll get one of those single bed rooms. Very few hotels have a king size bed even advertise, let alone selectable. These hotels must be run by Mexicans or went to the same business school.

The junior suite at the Atlantico Copacabana (the hotel across the street from L'Uomo) has a queen size bed.
