Looking for advice from the residents(or anyone else) in Rio in case something happens. What are the best hospitals to go to? Are there private doctors that will come to your apartment/hotel? How is payment handled for emergency room visits? Is there a system in place for free medical services in emergency situations?

Healthcare in Rio is very good. If you require surgery, you could always hope Barnes is in town...if so he does procedures in the privacy of his Hotel.

Otherwise, Office and ER visits will need to be paid by you and you can then file on your personal insurance when you return from the states. I would recommend asking Don or one of the guys who lives there for specific recommendations. For non-emergencies I just go to the pharmacy and describe my problem.

By the way, I had a crown re-done last month and it only took a week and cost 1/4 of the cost in the states.
