For the first or second timers, Taking a cab from the airport should be easy, around $35 to R$40 I usually shout out R$35 to copa to all the yellow or blue cab drivers someone always takes it. I friend recently went and had a private driver for the entire day for $R100 I mean he would have dinner or be at the beach the the driver is wating for you in the shade. Feels like your in vegas, without the stretch. I may go in New years maybe Jan 3 or 4th. Fuck making reservation unless your determine to stay at a certain hotel. I show up with my luggage, check them in somewhere and walk around for the best deal. I walked in the le Meridan and the quoted me $R210 a night and I heard the Rep next to him talking to someone making a reservation and charging the guy $620R a night because he was calling from the states. I didnt book because they said no guests allowed. So I told the guy to kiss my ass and I went to the Real palace for $R120 a night with one guest allowed. This time going back I am going to hit the streets for an apartment maybe 600-700R for a week. Rememeber everything is negotiable.

Have lived in Rio for almost two years now. IMHO the very worst place to seek companionship in Rio is Help. This is the suckers tourist trap. Lately there have been a LOT of suckers paying sucker prices. A general rule of thumb is that the more they ask, the worse they are...regardless of looks. If they show you their colors by asking rediculous prices, they think you are a sucker and will treat not only your wallet but you that way as well.

Someone will jump in now and tell me how great so and so was and he paid USXXX just to show how wrong I am. But boys, I talk to hundreds of guys every year and the general trend is true...you get less when you pay more.

The very best thing any of you can do if you plan to come here much is learn the language. In the US you can usually pick out a loser gold-digger by talking with her. Same here. Attitude is everything. The best looks in the world on a dead fuck is worth zip.

FWIW in two years I have spent more than R$150 for a girl exactly three times. Twice I knew it was likely to be so-so at best...but at the asking price of $R200 I had to give it a shot (even we who live here give into the "walking fantasy" urge once in a while ;)

Its ALOT easier to get normal prices when the girl knows you actually live in Rio instead of just visiting. If you live there, the girls consider you as a honorary "carioca", they know they can't pull a fast one of you. They will keep the prices low because they know you will always be around, plus many times they might drop by your place to hang out and will end up fucking you for free.
