If you have any rhythm at all and want to meet non-programma girls. Head to the new Hip Hop club in downtown Rio. Its called Black 6 and all they play is American Hip Hop and R&B. About 40R entrance fee, but 20R of it is free drinks. Two floors with a nice size dance floor on the second floor.

Unbelievable girls lined up, and unlike American girls, they don't come to a club to hug the wall. They are just begging to dance with someone. Because its Hip Hop music, you will find a number of American brothas in there having a ball. Its hysterical to watch how fustrated the girls get trying to learn some of the dances that come from NYC. The great thing is that some will beg you to show them, I guess its something to brag about with their friends to show off the latest dances from America.

i have been to the club you speak of, but its called club 6. i have the exact address somewhere, but all the concierges and cabbies know where it is, as well as many therma girls who like to dance after work but are not down with help. the club itself rivals any clubs you will find in ny or la, as far as industrial cool goes. i heard hip hop that you will only hear in nyc, not the pop shit they play most places. and the quality of girls was unreal. it seems to be many wealthier rio kids who hang here, as a 40 reals entrance with no desire to make $ once inside. just dance, excludes many. its a great alternative to the help scene, if you are confident in your dancing and social skills, not just your ability to pay for play. thumper......i will be in rio from march 7th to the 23rd. drop me a line if you are in town.

club six, (pronounced just like in english) is at rua das marrecas 38. phone # is 9814-0444. i am pretty sure its located in the lapa area.

like thumper said, there is a 40reals entence fee, but i had 3 beers and 3 waters that was included. they give you a credit like card that the bartender will ask for and input in into the computer to tally your bill. dont be mislead when you enter that you are seeing the whole place. we hung in the first room for about 20minutes thinking it was the whole club.......then we went up a staircase to discover where the club was really at. its actually 2 and a half more floors with different music and a few more bars to hang at. something for everyone it seems. great vibes too. just dont bring the gringo/program mentatlity with you or else. it looked like all the guys in there were jujistu devotees.

Sonny, your right it is Club 6 not Black 6. Great place to hang out and a great alternative to Help on a Friday evening. Just leave the "Pay for play" attitude at home and you will have an awesome time.

Funny, my American friend had been trying for years to open a Hip Hop club in Rio. 4 years ago he told me he knew that it would do well if Cariocas had a place to go to, to listen to American R&B. Unfortunately, he didn't have the connections to make it happen, I bet he is eating his heart out right now. Now all Rio needs is a good Reggae spot and they will be all set:-)

do you know any other clubs that you could recomend, for dancing, ect. i have heard of meli melo, and have been to the bedroom before, but nothing like club 6. let me know. i can only handle so much of help in a two week period.

Meli Melo is a cool place, good music and alot of girls, but this it is a tough room to work. More "rich" Brasilian grils who are not too impressed with you being American. I really liked "W", had a GREAT time there and met alot of girls in the VIP section.

If you want to see some really hot girls take a 45 minute cab ride out to Caixas on a Friday or Saturday night. There are two clubs out there that are incredible. "Rio Sampa" has a nice VIP area that any concierge can reserve for you, good pagode and techno music.

My favorite club is "Via Show" in Caxia, unfuckingreal!! HUGE club and great music. They have a cool laser show and they have a live show with about 30 dancers and a live band. I would say its about 8X or 9X bigger than Help Disco. I usually get a VIP box and hang with my buddies. Humongous crowd with thousands and thousands and thousands of girls!!! No exaggeration!! Don't exactly remember how much it is, but its super cheap. I partied with 14 people in VIP, drinking and eating for about 5 hours and I spent less than 300R by the end of the night. Shit, thats entrance fee for me and a date in NYC!!

Club 6 is in the Centro just a little after Lapa. It is near Av Republica Do Chile.

Club 6 must be da muthafuckin bomb!!! Why did it take so long for Rio to get a R&B/hip-hop club??? I asked a girl in Rio that question...but she really couldn't give me an answer...Yes, a reggae club would blow-up in Rio....

Becuase they'e already had "baile funk" - Brazilian Hip-Hop for about 20 years.. this is just more americanized by the looks of it. And Samba-Reggae is pretty big too, especially in Bahia. Go see teh movie "City of god", it's got quite a bit about the local music scene in between all the shooting and gang-bangers.

But "6" sure does sound like fun, if you've got moves you should be able to bring down the house... ;-)

I think there was another club by there called "Symbol"
My favorite was in a club in Ipanema called Baronneti.
I heard the DJ at club six is the one of the DJ's from HELP.

Symbol (Avenida Almirante Barroso, 139 - Centro) is cool. Go on a Wednesday night. It is singles night but get there by 630pm. It gets packed by the office girls going there right after work.

If "6" is so popular, then that proves that pure R&B/hip-hop clubs are in demand, and more should open in Rio....

I think that a reggae club in Rio is needed...it's funny that reggae clubs exist in Northeast of Brasil....

Any info on non-pro clubs such as meli-melo, Bombar, Symbol.

The music at "club six" was good but the club was just OK. I think it was too dark in there, so you can't hardly see who your talking to.

I will be heading down to rio at the end of february, 2005. since that is carnival month, will it still be just as fun as if i were their for the actual carnival weekend feb.6th thru feb. 9th??? Also, is "Club Six" still poppin? I haven't seen any recent posts about the spot.

I just came back from Rio,,and I have to say that Club Six is still popping. It was off the hook. I don't mind being in an atmosphere with beautiful girls that are somewhat of a challenge,,,even if I'm in Rio. If I want the other shit,,,I'll just go to Help like I did the other nights,,but I had a ball,,and the women are not all over you asking for drinks and sips from your beer and shit like that,,,but if you are a good looking guy,,,they know you are not from there. I partied and danced my ass of with many of them and even ended up brining one back to my apartment. Yeah,,,I got some FREE pussy in Rio>>LOL>>. I didn't buy her a drink or anything,,,well,,I insisted on giving her 20 reais for the cab that afternoon, she didn't even want that.
Anyway, if you want something a little different than the normal, chaotic scene of Help, then try Six.
