Humm?
Cali or Cartagena? As Bro. Rabbit says, "Please don't throw me in the briar patch." To tell the truth, guys (NOW members take note-I am assuming no women are in this discussion.) these two places are entirely different. If you want mongering and non-mongering activities that Cartagena is the place. The history of Cartagena will keep you busy for at lest a week-especially in the old city. If you want romance, take a chica to the old city when the moon is full. To find out that datum go to:
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/MoonPhase.html
(Another piece of trivia to drive you crazy is that November will have a Blue Moon, which is two full moons in one month)
Best way to get there is to make a connection in Miami. Sometimes it is better to grab a flight from say Chicago ORD to Miami MIA that book to Colombia. Quick check of the web show many flights from ORD to MIA for about $200 then ACES was about $310 to Cartagena CTG. COPA, a great airline IMHO, was $410 MIA to CTG with a FREE stop in Panama City. For and extra $50 you can also get a stopover in Barranquilla BAQ.

Barranquilla is an OK place but not one of my favorites. Advice-Under no circumstances make the land trip from Barranquilla to Cartagena after dark. The highway is excellent and new but should only be undertaken in daylight. While I have never used Alvaro several buddies have and I accept their judgment to his character. Don't know if this is current but try this: Alvaro D’Achiardi Viteri, Taxi Service-Tour Guide. From USA dial international 011-57-5-368-1802 between 10pm-12am EST to speak with him directly. He does speak English. His pager is 349-0499 code 39253, person will answer and ask for the code. You then give them the text message to send to his pager. It have been reported that he now has email at aldavit@lycos.co. His cell phone is 634-8135. But thinks change in Colombia so I do not know if this is still good info.
To get around call Avianca and ask about their Discover Colombia air pass. In low season you get three cities for $100, five for $120. Low season is anything other than June, July, August

I live in Barranquilla Colombia and have now lived a total of 11 years in this wonderful country. There are several striptease bars in the city, the best being Lusitania and also Zona Rosa. Both places also serve as brothels with many decent looking Latin women hanging out in the bar area looking to chat with men, preferably foreigners. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights are quite busy. If you like one of the girls you can take her to one of several rooms in the back of the building or you can invite her out to your hotel. There's usually a 10,000 pesos charge to get into the club (about $4) and drinks are not cheap. It's better to buy a half bottle of rum or whiskey rather than buying individual drinks. A lady will charge from 80,000 to 100,000 pesos ($30 - $40) for an hour or so or a little more for all night. Cost of the in-house room is about $15 and if you take her out there's a $20 "fine" payable to the house.
Either of these clubs are worth visiting, the girls are friendly and attractive. Best to go with a small group of friends if possible although they are safe enough to go alone if you want.

Barranquilla is where I got my start mongering a long time ago. Colombia has always had some of the prettiest and most talented senoritas. Do you know if a striptease bar/brothel called the Place Pigalle is still around. It was similar to your description of Lusitania and Zona Rosa??
Muchas gracias,
ECJuan

I haven't heard of Place Pigalle, but that doesn't mean it is not around. Will ask some friends this weekend. Do you remember the address or area of town?
By Ecjuan on Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 06:55 pm: Edit |
Wish I could remember where it was. I always just told the cabbie the name of the place and didn't pay much attention to where it was.
Thanks,
ECJ

Ptilson you still living in Barranquilla? Anyone else familiar with Barranquilla?
I will be moving to Barranquilla this summer and was hoping to dig up what info I could before I got there.
Thanks,

Whats the latest on the bus service between BAQ and CTG.
From the airport, where do I go to pick up the service to CTG?
And has safety improved since the 2001 post??

i stayed at chica friendly El Royal hotel for $45/nite which incidently had streetwalkers a couple blocks away. The Lucitania club is fantastic with a floor show and rooms in the back. The women were 8&9s, i talked one from 300 down to 200k pesos ($100) to go to the hotel but also had to pay a $30 bar fine. The girl was superb. Lucitania makes the trip worth it but Baq is limited & you have to go 4 hrs to santa marta for a decent beach so i split to hollywood beach in bocagrande cartagena (2hrs) which blows Barranquilla away.
By Gatchino on Friday, August 18, 2006 - 05:59 am: Edit |
I'll be in CTG next month and I was wondering if making a stop in BAQ would be worthwhile. Basically is there enough action in BAQ to justify the 2-hour trip? The info on this thread is mostly dated, but the last post suggests there mght something to this town. Any more info on places to get girls and chica-friendly places to stay in BAQ would be much appreciated.
By Tomtom33 on Friday, August 18, 2006 - 06:22 am: Edit |
Hotel America Golf in North BAQ is nice, chica-friendly, and reasonably priced. My guess is that most hotels in BAQ are chica-friendly.
The Buena Vista mall has an abundance of eye candy, but I never scored there. Most cabbies should be able to find some action. I visited a couple of casas but can't remember the names. I also found some street action.

Had heard baq has the sexiest colombianas. From ctg rode 'La Costena' bus to baq, Shakira's hometown. Ride costed only 10k, 2.5 hrs. Same weather as ctg - hot & muggy. Surprised to learn baq is the 4th largest city in co, bigger than ctg.
First nite in baq went to the famous Lusitania, across street from Monterrey Hotel. All 25-30 chicas in bikini thongs, thurs nite. 2 hotties, better looking than anything i saw at LDV. Open til 5am.
Hotties said they're from small towns not far away. The club has rooms where visiting chicas stay for free. Separately they agreed to spend the afternoon at my hotel the following days, avoiding takeout & onsite rm fees.

Suggestion for the Trip from CTG to Barranquilla. I use to to take the La Costena' bus.
However the taxi ride to and from the bus station make it a wash in cost compared to better services available. This service will pick you up at your Hotel and drop you where ever you want for 50K pesos. It's much better ride in a mini van and takes less time then the La Costena Bus. http://www.invertours.com/destinos.htm

does anyone know any good place to stay in baranquilla.where you can bring women.
By Goddessman2 on Sunday, October 10, 2010 - 10:10 pm: Edit |
I wouldn't worry about the hotel. Just find a cool driver and ask where the chicas are. Any hotel will let you in, though some charge a fee if you dont have a double room.

Hi all, just joined here, and looking for Barranquilla info. Best Hotel, best part of town to hang out, favorite pick-up bars. Not exactly a newbie, but BAQ is a new adventure for me. Any Advice would be Welcome. Trying to plan a September visit for 10-15 days.
By Vladimir on Wednesday, August 01, 2012 - 04:23 pm: Edit |
My advice would be to research transportation to some of the other cities and split your time. Is there any particular reason you chose Barranquilla? I researched it in the past and couldn't find much other than the options above and maybe a few others here or on any other site. I decided to skip it and only visited Bogota, Cartegena, and Medellin, all of which have excellent P4P scenes.
