Does anybody have any idea how big a deal Independence Day is in Rio? And more importantly are any of the termas closed? (there is nothing worse than being in Rio without termas).
For Carnaval, New Years and some of the religious holiday; some of the termas will close down for a day or so. Is Independence Day always the 7th of September or does the day vary slightly from year to year?

Aw crap...September 7th is my last day in Rio...I'm gonna' be bummed if I don't have an opportunity for a parting shot at one of the termas...lol...

Hello gents..
I was wondering what happens during Xmas week ?
I am considering a trip to Rio during that time. 12/18 - 12/28 and was wondering if much action during this time period ?
Do many of the girls disappear during this time period ?
Are prices jacked up for everything ?
Are Termas closed on the 24th and 25th ?
For the price of airfare, I don't want to burn 2 of the days because of a holiday exodus ??
Any info or opinions are appreciated.
Thanks

As far as I know XMas is never good for hobby anywhere in the world.
AS far as termas, they are always closed during holidays, even on Mother's day.

yeah but, the week BEFORE Xmas is not so bad, between Xmas and New Years is dead. Be aware that the 24th is the real big holiday in Brazil, you won't get a single garota in Brazil to give up her family time on that day. 25th is less of a big deal, although the Termas will be closed. My recomendation - either go a little earlier in the month (good luck gettin gtickets, though!) or get a "favorita" organized to tide you over the 25th. Unless she really "loves" you, you'll probably be high and dry for the night of the 24th, though. Get ready for some 5 fingered relief.
As for prices, they are not particularly any worse than the rest of December. Prices go through the roof for NYears and Carnaval.

I'm expecting it to be dead for 24th and 25th... but will 26th - 29th be so bad... it is a weekend...? Or just like a typical September or May timewise?

What is the deal with easter/Good Friday?? Are the termas closed???? shit, I hope not. How about girls?? Do they stay with families like Christmas???

Things will be locked up tighter than a drum on Good Friday. No termas, no escorts, very little on the beach, only Help that night. In 2006, Luomo and Monte Carlo were open on Easter - I was in Luomo. I'm not sure about anything else (i.e., Solarium or Centaurus). You're best bet is to find something in advance for Good Friday during the day. Have fun.

By Gibletpie on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 05:20 am: Edit |
Yes, lots of shit is closed that day. It's a MAJOR holiday. Even Luomo will close, I believe.

Except for Gibletpie's Soul, it will still be running amuck!
By Catocony on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 08:54 am: Edit |
I would have thought that Giblet would have gone Macumba by now, so not sure if he still has a soul or if he traded it for a couple of programs.
By Blissman on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 11:05 am: Edit |
Cato: You can trade your soul for a couple of programs? Where? I don't seem to be doing much with mine anyway so this sounds like a great deal. Is this cabine, suite or takeout?
By Catocony on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 03:39 pm: Edit |
I'm serious, one of my goals for Rio is to knock the bottom out of some Macumba priestess while she's under a spell.
Now that I think about it, the chick from 4x4 4 years ago who started barking and bit me on the leg could have been a Macumba follower.
By Copperfieldkid on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 04:28 pm: Edit |
Was she a "bitch", or did you simply make her get on all fours and bark like a dog...probably the latter knowing you Cat!
That's right, teach em the meaning of respect!
By Catocony on Monday, July 23, 2007 - 05:39 pm: Edit |
All on her own volition, I was but a Rio newbie on that trip.
By Gibletpie on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - 06:33 am: Edit |
Still very much in posession of my soul, thanks for asking ;) And I don't do programs really... It gets too complicated.
Although I am working on getting my birthday turned into a national holiday. 200 signatures, all female, and counting... ;)
By Copperfieldkid on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - 07:10 am: Edit |
Only 200 signatures, you'll have that in twenty minutes! You are the man.......................
By Catocony on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - 12:05 pm: Edit |
Dude, those were all marriage license applications you were signing
