Located next to the Lido area. Popular with guys who stay in hotels in the Lido area.

From what I noticed Mabs seems to be more Popular with Europeans. I also noticed that the quality of the girls (as far as looks) is not as good as Meia Pattaca. The prices for the beach girls in front of the Merridian Hotel seems to be a bit less than the asking price for girls in front of the Othon palace so I'm assuming the same is true with the girls from Mab's as compared to Meia Pattaca
Ranger,
I think you're right about the pricing structure between the two. Meia Pataca girls charge usually R100. I stopped by Mabs once and got a girl there for R50.
By the way, how have you been? It's been a while now since Sep 2000.

Hey Joe,
I've been good and you ? Yes it's been too long, when are you planning your next trip? I'm planning a month long trip around the end of March. Hopfully you can make it down then????
btw, I've retired now and am planning on moving to Rio sometime around August(I hope) all depends on getting a Permanant Visa.
Ranger,
Doing well here. I was looking at May or June but it is all uncertain now. If things shake out right, late March could also be a possibility. I envy you being able to make a retirement move to Rio.
"I was born when I first arrived in Rio. I lived while I was there and I died when I left."
Just paraphrasing an old Bogart movie. It seems all I do here is mark time until I get the chance to return.
Ranger:
I envy you on your retirement and imminent move. You are about to live a chronic daydream of mine. Congratulations.
You are going to have to share with us your permanent visa experience.
Muito obrigado e boa sorte.

I hope you are able to make it, will be nice to see you again. I know what mean, no sooner do I step of the plane back home do I start planning my next trip! !
WilmaFlint,
Thanks for the well wishes. I am feel the same as you about Rio, on my first trip there I decided that within 2 years I would be living there! When I get back in April from my visit I will start my Visa Application. The web site to the Brazilian Embassy lists the requirements and and from what it says it is no big deal to apply. According to the web site the process only takes about two months (we will see). I'll keep you guys informed once I start the application process. As I said if all goes well I'll be living there by August ! !

Ranger is my new carioco hero...
Has anyone been to Mabs recently? I was planning on going there and some other places in June but didn't make it. It'll probably be a while until my next trip, but I can't stop thinking about Rio right now after looking at all the pics and video in Bluestraveller's Don't Eat report.
Anyways, how is selection here these days? Do they have good pizza? I'm looking for better pizza than the "Meia Pataca special" I ordered at Meia Pataca.
d'Art,
I didn't put it in my report but I popped by Mabs because I was in the neighborhood. It was not good. The women are much older than Meia Petaca and not as good looking. I mentioned to a few other guys and they just shook their heads knowingly.

WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO MABS?!! I just returned last week from a 12 day trip to rio and I can't believe the the transformation that mabs has gone thru. Back in the day Mabs was an excellant pickup spot. My buddies and I used to go to Mabs to relax, talk and drink wine and also look at the women. It was a nice quiet, laid back place. Meia Pataca primarily caters to Americans, so it is more of a party atmosphere with music and alot of tourists running around.
Mabs was the spot to go to in order to get away from all the noise and commotion. These were the girls who liked meeting the older europeans guys, there used to always be plenty of hot young women there. Now Mabs is nothing but "Creature Feature" night, it has some of the scariest women I have ever seen in Rio! Even Villa Mimosa has hotter women. I don't know what happened but in the past 3 years it has gone downhill dramaticaly.

Thumper,
What's the story on Villa Mimosa? I been twice this year and the shit I see floating around MP and help.
I want to be local and take a trip to VM just for the experince.
So is VM same comparison to HELP? just more cheaper and filth. I may go back in Jan and so far I think the thermas has the best talent.
Thumper or anyone else, give me the info on VM and is it worth it. Because after the 3rd day of HELP in AUG, 1 out of 15 was rated 7 and up. ( I swear )
and the ones that looks good knows the ratios so she raises her quota to 200-300R. I like going in Jan when Copa is so packed with pussy there begging to go with you for $100R.
anyway let me know please.

Ceenotes, there is a V.M. topic under the Rio De Janeiro thread. All the information you need is under that thread.
I have to totally agree about BABS. The only time I dropped by BABS was on a Sunday when I went for my evening Jog. That's right. I jog. So what. Really nice night. I ran the entire distance form Meia Pataca and figured BABS would be a good place to stop for a refreshment, cool down a bit before returning to MP. I met a couple of Americans, mostly on business. The rest were Italians, lots of fat, bald headed Germans judging from the hard vowel sounds. The chicas I saw were in the 5 to 6 range and there weren't a lot of them. But this was about 7:30 in the evening, so many I came at a bad time. I was there for about an hour, before returning to MP. I was definitely disappointed in BABS to say the least. Chances I will never go back, unless I am in the area and really have to.
