Do you need ac adapters and voltage converters in Rio for battery chargers and electric shavers, etc, specificly at Debret Hotel.

You should not need a voltage converter as it is usually 110V-120V, but some hotels have 220V. I do not know about Debret Hotel specifically, but you may want to bring one just in case. You may also need a plug adaptor and may want to bring one of theose adaptors that allow you to plug a 3 prong plugs into a 2 prong outlet. I had trouble at the Rio Roiss plugging some of my stuff in.

d'artagnan,
The voltage in Brazil is established by state and Rio is 110-120v. If you've been to a hotel that had 220v they probably had it in addition to 110v. I will caution you guys to the fact that the oscillation is huge from 90v to sometimes 130v so a current stabilizing bar or adaptor is not a bad idea for things like laptops and expensive electronics. Sao Paulo is 110 and Brasilia is 220v
I'll second the advice of bringging the adaptor from 3prong to 2prong as most plugs will be two prong. but these adaptors are redily available with the street vendors.
take care
