We found a taxi and headed over to Puerto Madero. She asked what type of food I wanted and I asked her the same thing. We eventually decided on beef and she said she knew of a place. She didn’t know exactly where it was though, so the taxi dropped us off and we walked along the waterfront a short distance until we found it. We passed the Spell Café and she asked how to pronounce spell. Shortly after that, we found the place we were looking for; Rodizio.
After we were seated I asked if she wanted some wine. She said she only liked red wine and not white. Fuck if I know anything about wine so I pointed at one of the mid-priced wines and ordered that. It seemed like this place had a buffet for the appetizers. She went over and grabbed some food she wanted. I didn’t see anything I liked, so I just got some bread. Heck, I didn’t even recognize half the stuff that was there. A great connoisseur of food I am not.
While we were eating that, someone comes over and places two small drinks on the table. It was something from Brazil and from what I could gather it had Vodka, lemon juice, sugar and perhaps something else in it. It was small so I thought it was a shot so I start to drink the whole thing in one gulp. Spa girl informs that I am drinking it too fast. It was good though.
We chatted about basic things for the rest of the evening. I can’t even really remember what we talked about now. Stuff like what I did for work in the US, if I had any brothers or sisters, basic BS. I asked her the same questions. The Sony Clie and dictionaries I downloaded to it was a great help during conversation stoppers. She frequently asked to use it when she didn’t know which word she wanted to use. The language barrier was significant at times, but it was also something that brought us together since we both had to work at communicating.
Different types of meat were constantly being brought out throughout the evening. You just told them how much you wanted and they sliced it off right there and served it up. That was pretty cool. We finished the entire bottle of wine, which surprised me somewhat. The wine was very good though. With that and the two Brazilian drinks, spa girl was starting to feel it a bit.
When I got the bill it was $105 pesos or about $35 US dollars. I thought for the dinner we had that price was more than reasonable. But the first thought that came to my mind was that I hoped Argentina has gone through serious inflation since their currency devalued. If the peso were still one to one against the dollar, that would have been one fucking expensive dinner. I asked her about the tipping culture and she seemed fine with the 120 pesos I was about to leave total.

There is also a Rodizio a couple of blocks north of Santa Fe on Calloh (not sure of spelling). I think that one is better the Puerto Madero.

Otrohombre, It is spelled Callao (pronounced Kah-shaw-oh)....I think it is at the corner of Callao and Juncal.....and I agree it is better than the one in Puerto Madero.
