A girl in Rio. I guess I'm interesting in finding reputable shops like the duty free store (thanks for the suggestion BTW CityDude). Since I'm not particularly knowledgeable about jewelry, I want to stay away from middle men.

I've been doing business with Gerald Frank for years. He has proven to be honest yet inexpensive. He has a small shop, Erika, in the same shopping center as Termas L'Uomo.
Address: Rua Siqueria Campos 143, Loja 49,
Copacabana.
If you just stop by the selection is less than impressive so call first to be sure the owner, Jerry, will be there. 2549-9540 A citizen of Canada, English is his navive language.

As I was saying I don't know anything about jewelry. Layne's point about buying American jewelry makes sense. Are prices for comparable goods going to be on par or will you get a much bigger bang for your buck in Rio? A few bucks difference obviously does not really matter.
