Boat Rentals, water skiing, etc.
Para Sailing

S, I had every intention of doing at least one tourist thing while in Rio, like going up to Sugar Loaf, do some parasailing, etc. Every morning I thought about doing something like that and after about 6.57 seconds I decided not to. As far as standard beach and pool activities, sure. I didn't see much in the way of See-Doo rentals or anything but they may bring that stuff out in the summertime. I asked about parasailing and someone mentioned that most of the watersports are available on the bay side of Rio, on the other side of Sugar Loaf from Copa.
Just check out any of the Rio tourist web sites, there should be some info out there. Good luck in actually doing any of them - the closest I got to tourist activities was driving by some museums and old buildings on the way to 4x4 ![]()

Thanks for the reply. It's funny though, I was there for the first time in June, and did exactly like you said. Nothing but mongering. I will be going back in October and this time want to do some of the other tourist things as well. I had made friends with a number of girls and would be more than happy to take them on these excursions. Actually, would love to rent a boat that accomodates 6-8 persons with galley, bathroom, etc ?? Jet ski's, para sailing, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, all this crap with hotels not allowing guests any longer or charging $20US per girl is ridiculous. I stayed at Debret last time and paid as a double and never was charged any additional for guests...no matter how many times I brought someone back to room per day. Any suggestions on hotels now ?? I do not like Rio Roiss.
Thanks.

Soprano,
that is a big problem in Rio. I try to provide all my guests with some of those options when they get fed up of the mongering. Jet skis are banned in the whole state after some crashes and deaths in the mid 90's, para sailing in Rio I never heard of but you will find it in Angra, Paraty and Buzios. Boat rentals are available with limited resources so are sailboats. In my site you will find a list of extreme sports available in rio - check it out in the Rio cheat sheet.
There are other great activities like waterslides, semi-pro go carting, full moon water rafting, and other stuff. Just drop me a line and I'll be mor than glad to give you possibilities.
take care
jose
