This is the thread for discussions about Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.

The Clarion Bonaparte Suites are pretty much ground zero for mongering, the only problem is that the Alpha Bar downstairs is temporarily closed. There are SWs hanging out in front of the hotels, and very striking garotas around the lobby.

Brasilia Trip Report

Leaving Sao Paolo at Congolhas airport, a tiny airfield located near downtown, the flight to Brasilia took an hour and twenty minutes aboard a comfortable Boeing 737. As usual, getting aboard was a bit of a struggle as my airline, Varig, had actually booked me on a flight operating by a partner airline, and the two companies had to wrangle a bit to allow me to take my seat.

Brasilia is a planned city, designed for a population of half a million. Unfortunately for the planners, over two million people live there now, so the plan is not exactly working. The city has a very regimented design, and all addresses adhere to a special code. Supposedly, if you understand the code, you can find any address in Brasilia, but I never met a taxi driver who could find anything in Brasilia. Getting from the airport to downtown is easy, however, metered cabs run almost exactly 33 reais (about $10).

Since I was on business, my mongering time was limited, although I did engage in some light activity with one of my Brasilian minions.

First stop was the Clarion Bonaparte hotel, which runs about $120 a night. On the first floor of this hotel is the Alpha Pub, one of the major red light bars in Brasilia (very convenient for business travelers). Unfortunately, the Alpha Pub is temporarily closed by the local police, so that particular venue is out for the moment. I suspect that it will be back soon. Once the sun goes down in Brasilia, however, it is impossible to avoid mongering activities. Within 10 meters of the hotel, SWs in great numbers plied their wares on the street corner next to the Esso station by the hotel. Some of these chicas were rather attractive, although they all looked too rough for me to bring back to the hotel (lots of tattoos, skimpy clothes, etc).

No problem, after a particularly good day of business meetings, my assistant and I decided to go to the Starlight bar, I have no idea where this located (except that its more or less downtown), one of the prime mongering spots in the city. The minimum consumption at this bar is 50 reais per person ($16), which was no problem for us. Walking in the door, one could be overwhelmed by the noise, the smoke, and the large number of very attractive garotas, the guy - girl ratio was about 1:5, good for me. The setup is simply that the bar lives off drinks (no fichas, though), and bar fines, which are reported to be $10 a pop. Other than that, the chicas may ask for a drink if they are thirsty, but generally the chicas don't drink much, they prefer to remain sober. The key for the chica is to secure a customer, and their prices start at 300 reais ($100). While sipping drinks and fending off garotas, you can also check out the strippers, they start at about midnight, and there is generally one every 20 minutes or so after that until closing time (3 am). The garotas show up in quantity about 9:30 pm, and so have 5 hours to land a customer. And believe me, they try.

By now, you are probably wondering about the quality of the chicas. First off, they are generally thin, many Euro-looking types, few mulattas or morenas, they are not really in fashion in Brazil. On the other hand, there must be no plastic surgeons in Brasilia, since the girls don't have anywhere near the exagerrated breasts that you would see at Adelitas, and few voluptious 35 year olds as at AB. Mostly, you get normal looking girls, think attractive secretary, and you will have a good idea what to expect.

Since I was with a business associate, all I did was drink and talk to the chicas, although this was quite a bit of fun. The drinking got rather heavy, and my associate had hooked up with a really attractive girl, so by 2 pm, he stated it was time to leave, got a taxi, and dropped me off at my hotel first, presumably so he could return to the bar to pick up his chica friend. In the morning, he was complaining about how little sleep he got, so that was my impression of his motive.

OK, the second day was a killer, lots of work, little sleep for me the previous night, so I called it a day about 9 pm, no bars for me, and I had an early flight anyway. However, I was determined to sample the wares of Brasilia, so I dialed up an escort service, (http://www.relaxbsb.hpg.ig.com.br/novo/menu/morenas.htm), and selected a mulatta garota (Emily). I called her up, and talked about her services and prices (Full Service - 150 reais, or $50). Note to all: I had studied a little Portuguese a couple of days prior to leaving the USA, and spent about an hour reading a Portuguese primer on the plane, and had zero problems conversing with anyone in Brasil, to the extent that I could understand virtually everything said to me, and could provide primitive, but understandable responses. So, it was set, Emily would come to my room. She called back 5 minutes later to confirm my room number, and within 30 minutes the hotel called me to let me know she was downstairs. Another 5 minutes later, and Emily and a bellboy was at the door. The hotel charged me 25 reais to allow her in, a very reasonable charge.

Emily was probably a little older than her photos implied, but it was rather difficult to judge her age either from her face or her body. If I had to guess, I would say late 20's. Emily was a sweetheart, eager to please, and grateful for the small bottle of California wine that I offered her. We had no problem conversing, but both Emily and I were anxious to get to work. Emily's standard service was not that different from a good AB session (an hour session that would normally cost $80 or so in AB), with one major exception, her Full Service was pretty much Full Service, the only thing missing was a BBBJ. Emily's photos featured her ass, for good reason, after about 30 minutes of foreplay and multiple position sex, she offered anal, which I gratefully accepted. Unfortunately, this made me remember why hooker anal isn't that good, chica lose their tightness back there real quick, and its the tightness that's the attractiveness of anal (well, at least a large part of it). Still, the view from behind Emily was pretty good, and I doubt I lasted 5 minutes inside her.

Afterwards, Emily was in no hurry to leave, although my plan was to pass out right after sex. I gave her the 150 reais, plus a bar of some fancy soap from the Body Shop, which seemed to delight her to no end. After about another 15 minutes of cuddling and her getting dressed, she was out the door, and I was on my way to dreamland.

General note about chicas in Brasilia, it is true that there are lots of attractive chicas in Brasil, but its not that the average girl in Brazil is that attractive, its just that there's lots of them. I spotted several world class girls just walking down the street, but there were lots of dogs, too. For those of you planning to visit Russia, you will find that the average in Russia is a lot higher than other countries, and Brazil falls into the category of lots of stars, but lots of dogs. Still, the good ones are really, really good.

I will be in Brasilia for a day or two soon and wonder whether anyone has any information to add to Explorer's excellent report?

Make sure you aren't there on a weekend! The place dies Sat-Sun.

Does anyone have any updates on Brasilia? And is there anything worth seeing in this planned gem of a city?

I visited relatively recently. Alot of streetwalkers near the Bonaparte Hotel, and a pay for play scene in the bar adjacent to the Hotel. Watch out for the trannies on the street though, although they are very obvious. As to the pay4play clubs or "discos," I didn't check them out with the exception of one place across the main throughfare from the Bonaparte Hotel. I wasn't impressed with that place and couldn't figure out whether it had rooms on premises or not. The one garota I talked to wanted $300 for a session of unspecified time, and when I demurred quickly offered it for R$200; I didn't bite and left after awhile.

As to the streetwalkers, I had one good experience for R$50 for a quickie, maybe 30 minutes. Others, who were actually less attractive, asked for between R$80 and R$100, so I don't know what the real price should be.

If you are also spending time in Rio and/or Sao Paulo, there isn't much reason to get involved in the scene in Brasilia, unless you are going to be there for an extended time. It isn't much to speak of in comparison.

I can't make up my mind whether in other respects it is an interesting city or not. Sometimes I think it reminds me of Tomorrowland in Disneyland; looked modern and innovative maybe forty years ago. Other times I find it interesting; suppose it depends on my mood and maybe how clear the skies are. There is an organized city tour available that I understand is not bad.

Not far from the Melia (see below) and Bonaparte is the TV tower, where you can take an elevator up for a good view of the city. It is worth visiting.

The best hotel to stay at from the standpoint of value and facilities is the Blue Tree, but it is out of the way. Closer into the city, I would recommend the Melia Brasilia (not the Melia Confort); it is near the Bonaparte but much better (and has free wideband internet in the rooms, if that matters). It can be booked at www.solmelia.com where they offer internet specials that often beat what local travel agents can get.

Muito obrigato, LAguy, I appreciate your help. I'm spending most of my 3-1/2 weeks in Rio, but want to check out POA with a fellow Hombre for a couple of days. And it's only a few bucks more to get a BrasilPass, which gives me 4 flight segments. I want to see more of Brasil, so that'll work for me. But where else to go--by myself, without a companion more fluent in Portuguese than I--is the big question. I've been to Igacu, don't want to go to Recife because I don't want to be anywhere around that kind of scene.

Brasilia actually sounds OK for my purposes for two days. Presumably the Melia Brasilia is garota-friendly? Any other advice/input/comments?

By Laguy on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 10:00 pm:  Edit

I assume the Melia Brasilia is garota-friendly although I did not test it out. I believe I was at the Naoum Plaza when I brought a garota back; although the Naoum Plaza is referred to as a 5-star hotel in either Frommers or Fodors, it is actually around a two and a 1/2 star, and not at all worth the money. Similarly, the Bonaparte is mediocre, although in the heart of one of the mongering areas; for reference the Melia is perhaps three blocks away, and I would give it four stars (out of five).

Like Sao Paulo, the Brasilia hotels, with the possible exception of the Blue Tree which is resortish, are for businessmen, not families, and therefore one would expect they are all garota-friendly. I would put it around 90 percent that the Melia is.

Although not a pretty city, you may also want to check out Sao Paulo if you haven't already. For mongering I prefer it to Rio, although Rio is a bit easier to figure out quickly (although the guides I posted, as well as some of the other guides posted here should help). Also, for restaurants you can't beat Sao Paulo, at least not in Brazil.

Sao Paulo is a whole separate trip, and I will do it during 2005 (and I see you are quite knowledgable about SP, your guide will be my bible). I'm looking for a little tourism for a couple of days, so I know more about the country whose language I'm learning. Thanks for all the help.
