Just wanted to issue a warning to the board. If you choose to belive me, great, if not, so be it. I just heard from my police friend (Same one that told me about the boat party raid) here in Rio that they are seriously watching VIPS for sex parties. I do not think the parties that the board members have are being watched, I have to get more info from him. When I know more I will let you guys know.

Are sex parties illegal per se? Or, are they just watching for underage hookers and/or drugs?
By Brazil_Specialist on Wednesday, October 08, 2003 - 11:51 am: Edit |
I would like to hear more details on that. If you know something, please drop me an email too.
They guys on the Brazilian forum.hotside.com.br should know about these things!
Nothing illegal about sex parties. I wonder what they are watching for.
Illegal would be: underage hookers (underage girlfriends are actually only semi-illegal), drugs, or organized sex parties that someone runs for profit (like boat tours, etc)
So not sure what they would be looking for.

Have to agree with BS. Sex parties, with hookers or not, are perfectly legal, bring a two-headed goat and a midget while you're at it. Only thing that would get the police excited are underage girls, drugs, or for-profit parties (pimping is illegal). VIP's is right next to Vidigal (huge favela), so I wouldn't be suprised if their is some kind of drug conduit. Nevertheless, as a monger, I wouldn't worry about it (unless you are doign one of the above named illegal activites).
Now where's that two-headed goat?
BS

There looking for underage girls and Drugs. So if you do throw a party there. Hire an off duty police officer to check ID's. I've thrown a few parties there with no problems.

Riorob69,
How would you go about hiring an off duty police officer to check ID's ? How much would you pay him? I'm just curious.
By Sandman on Thursday, October 09, 2003 - 04:43 am: Edit |
Guess it would make sense when calling the Escort services for Festas to insist, "no drougas"
By Riorob69 on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 07:07 pm: Edit |
Bobby from "Blame It On Rio 4 Travel" hooked me up. You can also find off duty police officers that work at "Meia Patica". The one I hired charged me about $75US. Also you make sure the girls don't take any of the Bathrobes. They'll try to sneak them out. That shit will add up!!! Thats what happen at the first party I threw.

Maybe the cops are suspecting a copy-cat robbery of the one in "Cidade de Deus."
By Sf4dfish on Saturday, October 11, 2003 - 04:25 pm: Edit |
Their is also a moon-lighting police officer who drives a taxi at Meia Pataca. And he is alway's "packed"!
If anyone needs his service let me know!

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you guys, I just returned to the states yesterday. It turns out that there is a group of American guys who are hosting private parties at VIP where you can take pics and have sex with the girls. Most of the females are from Meia Pataca, they pickup the girls and the clients in a white van in front of M.P and then head off to VIP. My police buddy says they are watching them and waiting for the right time to bust everyone, including the unsuspecting tourists.
On a side note: I just heard thru the grapevine that Kenny is thinking of starting his boat ride trips again. I know, I know, some people never learn!! Supposedly, he is going to continue them in December, he is going to pick up the girls from a different location (instead of in front of MP) and have all the guys meet at a certain dock to board the boat. He must not have had enough fun the first time he was locked up because he is trying to go for round 2.

Thumper, I thought VIP was for "guys who are hosting private parties at VIP where you can take pics and have sex with the girls"? What's illegal about what they are doing?
By Gcl on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 04:41 am: Edit |
There is nothing illegal about hosting parties there. I think this is the sort of stuff that urban legends are made of.
By Coats001 on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 04:51 am: Edit |
" What's illegal about what they are doing? "
Maybe the fact that the "clients" are paying the organizers and not (only) the garotas??
(Which would be pimping, illegal in Brasil.)
By Badseed on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 06:25 am: Edit |
Exactly. As I posted earlier on this thread, one of the few things which would arouse the interest of the police would be "for-profit parties." Pimping is illegal.
However, as a practical matter, the real crime is hosting private parties for pay at a very obvious place (VIPs) and doing it in a very obvious manner (picking up clients in front of MP's!) WITHOUT PAYING OFF THE COPS. Rio Risky Business 101, always give the locals their cut - and/or be very, very discreet. Anyway a word to the wise for hombres - stick with Termas and direct dealings with the garotas (with a little translation help if you need it), most of these "package deals" will have the police sniffing around before you know it - especially the schemes that are blatantly blatant.
Enjoy!

Badseed,
Or just follow the instructions in UW's new Festa manual - a must read on that long flight down to GIG.
So, just so everyone's in agreement, if 8 mongers take 8 cabs to VIPS and rent 8 rooms, and a dozen garotas come over and are paid by the guys, and then the orgy begins, that is legal because there are no pimps or middlemen.
However, if 8 jackoffs line up on Atlantico and hop into a van and pay a guy money to have an orgy, that is illegal. Correct?
By Badseed on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 12:33 pm: Edit |
Correct, in fact if 8 guys get into 1 cab with 20 girls and go to VIPs, that's OK too, or any variation thereof. Middlemen are illegal. To be precise, Article 228 of the Brazilian Penal Code prohibits any third party from profiting from another person's sexual activities - and doesn't specifically mention wether or not it's legal to money from your OWN sexual activies, thereby making prostituion quasi-legal in Brazil. Also, the one who's breaking the law is the pimp/middleman, the "clients" have no legal liability (but are likely to get shaken down by the police anyway).

8 guys and 20 girls sounds about right--but not from MP (and all in one cab would be fun too).
By Thumper on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 04:20 pm: Edit |
GCL, like I said before, you can believe me or think I am full of shit, I know alot of people on the board thought I was wrong about the boat cruise raid too. And you know how that ended up:-) Just trying to help the guys on the board, I wouldn't waste my time posting the info if it didn't come from a VERY credible source.
Keep your eye out for the article in the paper. From what I understand, the next time they raid a joint, they are locking EVERYBODY up, not just the hosts. Its the "pimps" who are organizing the sex parties and making a profit off the deal that makes the whole thing illegal.
By Sbronx77 on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 05:07 pm: Edit |
Thumper: I believe what you're saying. My question is if one goes solo, [one garota/one monger]is that included in your information? Or is it a group thing? You say EVERYBODY, does that include the entire VIP'S?? I think some guys would go for the one on one sort of hook-up, instead of taking a chance of getting busted in a group session.
By Angryant on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 05:29 pm: Edit |
How are therma owners not middlemen?
By Thumper on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 07:04 pm: Edit |
Sbronx, its not the one on one thing or the group parties that are being watched. Its the parties that the organizer/pimps are arranging, that the police are casing. When I say everybody, I mean everyone who is at the pimp's party is going to be arrested. Pimps, girls and all the tourists!!!!
By Badseed on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 07:50 pm: Edit |
Thumper: I certainly believe your info, and I believe that the police will lock up/harass whoever they feel like, but I don't understand under what actual LAW the police will hold or charge the girls or tourists. Nevertheless, it's always a good thing to stay the f- away from anything shady or stupid. And I'm sure the rest of the hombres will have no problem continuing to enjoy VIPS, singly or multiply, just as long as there are no profit-maiking middlemen involved. UW's festa manual is the way to go.
AngryAnt: Termas tread fine line in the grey area of the law.. a line that is liberally greased with payments to the right people and "connections." Officially, the Termas just provide place for entertainment, and any pay-for-play is between you and the girl, the establishment knows nothing about it (most of the joints in Sao Paulo play all sorts of little games to maintain this fiction). Of course, since your session usually winds up on your bill which is charged by the Terma, the legal fiction is harder to maintain in Rio. Also, Article 129 of the Penal Code (if memory serves me correctly) specifically prohibits providing a place where prostitution is carried out... of course if THAT were actually enforced, half of Brazil would have to go out of business (including both houses of Congress).
A digression (again), for some reason everybody who is the least bit "sharp" in Brazil knows the entire penal code by number. Dunno why, it's just something I grew up with (shows the crowd I run with, I guess).... well, actually that's one of the strange side-effects of a police state, which Brazil was in the 30's, 40's and 70's. The most famous article is article 24 - forbidding homosexuality (since repealed... Milkman, you're safe!). Of course, there's still all kinds of jokes, centered around 23 (Brazilians being especially perverse...23="almost".. joking on 24 is too obvious). So when you turn 23, you're in for a year's worth of "almost" gags, and Pope John XXIII spawned no end of jokes. Too bad there are no Article 128 jokes. ;-)
BTW, I like your handle, my handle on another well-known forum is "AbleAnt."
