Just a jump away from Rio, this is a small port city which I believe transports most of the raw commodities of Brazil to the exterior.

You can tell, as they beaches are a bit ugly, with huge transport ships always passing by or docked off shore. As a result, I saw large bands of foreign sailors roaming around on the weekends.

I went here hoping to find a smaller Rio, but was a bit disappointed. Luckily I picked up a non-pro who lives in Serra and spent a week with her. She wanted a baby after 5 days with me, so I decided to move on.

1)It's not much cheaper than Rio, and apparently like 50% of the population of ES come from other states for the employment. Lots of men who work the docks and such, not as many women, as I find out in many of the normal bars and clubs I went to.

2)The pro scene exists, the most notable being Playman Boate, although several others exist. Most cabbies will be more than happy to take you to them. Quality is not bad, nothing to write home about, maybe the same as Solarium on a decent day, but far fewer number of girls. At most boates, for every girl, there were about 5-6 guys.

3)Pretty festive atmosphere on the weekends, particularly in the Bermuda Triangle which is a small area of bars, clubs, etc....capixaba girls (natives of Vitoria) are for the most part friendly, and with the immigration from Bahia, it makes for good music, food, and dancing

4)Upsurge in crime, so best to stay in Praia do Canto, which is the nicest area in Vitoria...although if you are looking for a Copacabana or Ipanema type atmosphere, you will be sorely disappointed

5)I noticed a few streetwalkers along the beach, particularly where many of the African sailors hang out, but it didn't look very appetizing at all...mixture of travestis as well.

6)Lots of girls move to Rio to hook, so you'll probably get the cream of the crop just by staying in Rio

6)ES, the state, is good for exploring, with beautiful towns in the interior (waterfalls, etc), a national park, and nice vacation beaches. Preferred spot for mineiros on vacation.

7)Overall, not much of a leisure spot, as it is an industrial steel-intensive port town, but certainly off the beaten track a bit and I had a nice time with my girl.

Again, spot on, except that Santos is the biggest commodities port in Brazil. AS I always write, no matter where you go in Brazil, if you've got game there's action... but why bother going to Vitoria when there are far nicer places to be?

yeah, getting action in brazil in ridiculously easy. no wonder brazilian guys who immigrate to the u.s. get so depressed and hard-up for women. hard to even imagine going back to the u.s. at this point.

need to figure out how to stay for longer than 6 months w/out going through a fraud marriage (the option of choice for most american ex-pats down here).

A) Permanent Visa - there are some income/assets requirements, but that's defintely the best way. Lots of paperwork hassles with the Brazilians (bureacracy is always a pain), and - believe it or not- you can go through significant pain with the American authorities. According to a friend of mine with a perm visa, the American INS/border control, whatever they call the police at the airports these days HATE seeing a guy that can come and go as he pleases to a "shady" foriegn country like Brazil and he usually gets shaken down for drug searches, background checks etc, whenever he swings thru the States. Then again he goes thru MIA, a reknowned neo-nazi hell-hole of an airport. And of course, maybe the INS guys are just jealous!

B) You can extend those 180 days a little bit by hopping across a border and coming back (of course, you are a bit far if you are living in the Nordeste). There's still a total limit for how many days you can stay a year, but I think it' smore than 180.

C) Blow the limit. It's not as if they hunt down illegals immigrants in Brazil... Of course it makes it a bit harder to come BACK to Brazil, but again, the border trick ca help you. Go to a nice town like Santana da Riveira, RS. Cross over to Uruguay and get a nice official exit stamp on your passport. Grab a taxi in RIveira (the Uruguayan side) and tell him to take you back to Brazil via the back roads (which arent monitored) and go back home. Bingo, next time you fly into Brazil all your papers are in order. Of course, next time you leave via a major airport, they'll want to know how you got IN without a visa stamp. Tell them you came thru Riveira and forgot! What are they going to do, kick you out of Brazil? Or just go home via Santana-Riveira-Montevideo etc. Of course, for any of these shennagins, you need to cross a border without a river or zillions of miles of mato, so that means Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso or Santa Catarina.

Boa Sorte!

I think option C is a great idea. I heard about some American English teachers doing just that in POA. It´ll also give me an excuse to fly down to POA, which I liked and enjoyed.

obrigadao.

Do you ever get stopped for an examination of your passport? I've never even carried a copy, never been asked for it even for credit card use. Am I just lucky?

Getting back to Vitoria... What's the latest on the scene there ? I'm going to be there February/March timeframe, and I'm interested in the latest recon. Can anyone help me out ? I remember what you've all said about Vitoria, but if I have to be there on business, I'd like to make the best of it, knowhutamean ? Thanks all.

I'm interested too. I was in Vila Velha (just south of Vitoria), spending the holidays a colleague and his family, and I'll be traveling there on business in the future. The week I spent there was the longest period of celibacy I've endured since moving to Brazil. Can't let that happen again!

I can dig out for you the phone of a madam in Victoria, even of a few girls. If your place is close enough to Vitória .........
