Some Guidance Requested for Brazil

Been to Costa Rica, Mexico, and the FKK's in Germany. Would love to try Brazil. There is tons of information in all the message strings, which is overwhelming. Any guidance is appreciated. First, the choice seems to be between Sao Paula and Rio. I have read alot about Terma's. Is this the best way to go? How likely is it that girls go back to the hotel with you? Is it important to get a hotel that allows these girls or is like in Germany or Mexico where most of the action actually takes place in the bordellos or Terma's? From a safety perspective - any hotel recommendations are recommended and some guranteed action places - are appreciated. I need a dummy's guide to get started. How safe is it to take a girl up to your room? I want kissing and BBBJ's and not alot of bullshit....I am not there to marry anyone or fall in love. Any advice is appreciated. Looking at booking a trip in February. Any airlines consolidator recommendations are also appreciated, since airfare seems to be pretty expensive.

If you are hobbying, on a budget, your first trip, and not want to be over whelmed by a large city, Rio is the place for you.

Safety in Rio is probably worse then SP, but it is easier to get around, and most of the places you want to hobby are close together. Also, you will meet more people in Rio that share the same interests.

LM:

Most of your questions are answered in Bwana Dik's (most exellent) Guide to Rio,look it up in Discus search here on CH.

However, giving my own answers:

Rio is probably the best bet for a Brazil newbie, between the Termas (Brazil's version of a FKK) and Terraco Atlantico/Help you'll have a great time. Stay away from the Lido strip joints, too much hassle for too little return.

Terraco Atlantico/Help girls will all go back to your hotel, Termas action is in-house but if you "click" with a girl, you can get a cell phone# and get her to come back to your hotel. All-nighters are pretty much the norm (or at least can be easily negotiated). Of course, if you prefer to sleep alone, no problem to kick them out.

Yes, you need to make sure that your hotel is "girl-friendly" if you plan to bring them back to your place. More on that in Bwana's guide, but basically most of the hotels are, althought they may charge ou an extra US$15 or so fee.

Safe enough to take a girl to your room after the usual precautions - put your valuables in the safe, hide your key, etc. Again check out Bwana's guide. Personally, I prefer to take the girls to a motel (short-time action hotel, very cheap and lots of fun), but that's just me. Whatever you do,you should try and budget some time and money for taking a girl (or 5) to VIP's, check out some of the trip reports and photos to see what I mean.

Kissing, BBBJ's,and a "girl-friendesperience" are pretty much the norm in Rio (less so in Sao Paulo, but still plenty to be had). Of course, you can also run into a lot of hardened bitches, you have to have a "monger's sense" of what is what. Again, check the guide, but generally if they are friendly with you outside the bedroom, they will be inside too.

Stay away from Carnaval in Rio (February sometime) for your first mongering trip. THe week before is also a headache. AFTER Carnaval is the best. Carnaval maybe why you are seeing such high airfares, bet you it drops a week or two later. Assuming you are flying from the US, call 1-800-BACC-RIO and see what prices they hook you up with, they are among the best US-based consolidators to Brazil. Having said that, I got a great deal with priceline in June, but you have to know what you are doing + not care about F.F. miles. Again, use discus search (look for "discount fare rio") here on CH to read the many opions on discount fares to Rio.

Overall, CH is a HUGE resource for Brazil travel, you just have to know how to use it. Check out trip reports by Athos, Sandman, DonGringo, Aldaron, Catacony. Use the discus search. Ignore reports/threads with a lot of flaming, it's pretty easy to figure out which posts have good meaty information.

Most of all, Have Fun!

One key point - Paulistas tend to stick to covered blowjobs, while the cariocas will usually bareback on the hummer. That may be a key factor for you.

By Roadglide on Monday, December 08, 2003 - 10:59 am:  Edit

LM; After a year my memories of Rio are starting to fade, but I stayed at the Luxor Regente it was andI am told still is guest freindly. Make sure you ask about a hotels guest policy before making a reservation.

Make sure that you use that stupid little safe in the room, it can save you a big headache.

Don't make yourself a target!!!!! Dress down, leave the watch in the room even a cheap timex.

Carry a minumum amount of R$ with you. No U.S. $

If the girl you bring back from help want's payment up front, show her the door!!!!

Now for the good news, these girls screw like no others. I have mongered in a lot of places due to the millitary but the only time I have ever had to grab a girls hips to slow her down was in Rio.....She damm near ripped my unit off when she was on top, ridding cow girl....ye-ha.

LM, DO BOTH! I alway's do both:-)

Depending on your age and look's, it is much easier to meet local/regular chicas in SP and score for free! Should you not hook up at the regular clubs, there are plenty of P4P establishments to satisfy your needs! sf4dfish

Lovingmarvin: I posted a fairly long report and then later an update a few months back on Rio that is more an alternative guide (i.e., it includes some of the places most other reports do not discuss) than a trip report. You might want to check it out. Costa Rica cured me of Mexico, and Rio along with SEA cured me of Costa Rica. So I can definitely recommend a trip to Rio, and, perhaps later, SEA.

By Lovingmarvin on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 05:46 am:  Edit

Thank you for some of the guidance. I will definitely check out the reports mentioned in this chain. I checked airfares again and Badseed is right they are high because of the carnival. Probably will move the trip up or down a week. Trying to coordinate this trip to Rio with another one I am doing to Germany in January. One question, however, Paulistas and Caricas are mentioned - I am not familiar with those terms? What are they?

By Badseed on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 06:43 am:  Edit

Paulistas - natives of Sao Paulo
Cariocas - natives of Rio

AS long as we are on the subject:

Mineira - Mnas Gerais (Belo Horizonte, etc)
Capixaba - Espirito Santo (vitoria)
Baiana - from Bahia/Salvador
Gaucha - from RIo Grande do Sul
Goiana - from Goias
Nordestina - from the Nordeste (Northeast) in general

most of the other state natives are "whatever"-ense, so from Ceara is Cearense, Mato Grosso is Mato Grossense, etc. And as you'll soon find out, Brazilians are very proud of their home state and are very different depending on their state -gauchas are the best, of course ;-)

One more important question - Please make a couple of hotel recommendations. I am having a difficult time tracking down information on if girls are allowed up in the room. I am looking at
Orla Copacabana Hotel
Av Atlantica 4122
Copacabana Beach
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil 22070-002. The prices range from $85 and up. I would like a nice hotel, but it doesn't need to be 5 stars either. Something reasonably nice that allows me the maximum flexibility as it relates to my guests. Please advise.

By Catocony on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 02:44 pm:  Edit

Marvin,

I usually stay at the Marriott, which is great except that it costs a shitpile ($200 US or more per night) and I would not stay there if I wasn't staying using points. I haven't been in too many of the other hotels, but I did check out the Princess Copacabana and it is very nice. Check it out under the Rio Hotels thread. It's just a couple of blocks from Help/Alcazar and seemed really nice. I'll probably stay there on my next trip.

Oh, if you do have a pile of Marriott points to use, or the cash to blow on the room, the Marriott is very garota friendly. No extra charges, no registration requirements.

By Lovingmarvin on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 02:56 pm:  Edit

Thank you! I have Marriott points but been saving them up to go to Hawaii. Maybe I'll reconsider :-) If I pick one of the other hotels you mentioned, how do I check if they are garota friendly? (i.e the Princess Copacaban) None of the websites seem to list phone numebers for the hotels. Also was it a big deal to get the Visa for Brazil? I have been searching the web and it seems like you simply send them the passport.

By Lovingmarvin on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 04:58 pm:  Edit

One more question - On one of the other boards i read the following " visited my favorite Termas, L'Uomo, and had 3 different girls. They told me it is now house policy to require condoms for blow jobs! Two of the three were willing to ignore this and give me a BBBJ anyway, but I'm wondering if this is happening at other termas and if it's becoming a trend. I sure as hell hope not, because one of the things that has always made Brazil a sexual paradise is the ubiquity of BBBJs" This same author also mentioned that a couple of girls refused to DFK. Is this true...BBBJ & kissing is important, otherwise I'll save the money and go to Mexico. Please advise as soon as possible, as I am making my final travel plans.

By Sf4dfish on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 05:26 pm:  Edit

LM, ask the garota this:

"Voce chupa sem camisinha"?

Which is translated, "do you BBBJ"?

"Eu precisa uma mulher que beija muito gostoso"?

"I need a woman who's a great kisser"?

All part of your very important verbal contract:-) sf4dfish

By Sterling on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 05:47 pm:  Edit

The guy must be a troll. The girl was just trying not to kiss his smelly ass. Kissing and BBBJ's are standard issue. If a girl doesn't do it tell her the session is over. She'll relent because every other girl in the place will gladly take her place.

As for asking in advance. Since you don't speak the language, the translation above may not get pronounced right. Here's a little pronunciation help.

Do you BBBJ
"Voce chupa sem camisinha"?
Is pronounced "Voe say chew puh sane kahm uh seen yuh"

Are you a great kisser?
"Voce beija muito gostoso"?
Is pronounced "Voe say bay shuh moo ene two gaus toe so"

You could also hire Don and never have to worry about translation. If you are in a rush and want to make the most of your time, he and his partner Karl can be very helpful. You can contact him at riotrips@hotmail.com

Hope this helps,
Sterling

This brings up another great topic - things that money can't always buy in Rio. Any guy can fork over his money for a cabina, but I'm always suprised when guys say the girls didn't want to kiss, were mechanical, etc. I've never had that happen, and I'm no Don Juan or anything. It just goes to show that money will buy you sex, but you still need some style, good graces, a smile and a good, fun attitude to really make the true Rio experience happen.

One of the guys asked me, "how can you manage to sit in a terma boite and kiss a girl for a half hour and not even have to pay her up front to do it?" Shit, I thought that was the norm for everyone, until my Portuguese improved and I could actually have basic conversations with the girls.

Basic rules: 1, the girls like to be treated like they're a little special, the same as they treat you. Nevermind that you're in a brothel, that's irrelivent. 2, the girls love to talk. 3, the girls love to dance. 4, always get the garota a (non-Red Bull) drink while sitting with her and 5, don't get rough with them. They hate assholes who get rough with them, which seems to be a growing problem down there.

The stories I hear of what they'll do to guys who are fuckheads - they'll rub Lidocane or something on their dick to kill the erection, they'll lull the guy to sleep for half a session so they can just chill, refusing to kiss, some even refuse to do a BJ, even with a condom. And, monger friends, no not forget are wayward monger from NYC who lost half his ear a few weeks ago when he fucked with the wrong garota at Centaurus!

Lovingmarvin, Badseed's advice about Bwanadicks guide is bang on. It's what got me through my first (and so far, only) trip to Rio. You may want to check out my Rio report. It's rather detailed, but really gives you a look at a first-timer's trip to Rio. You'll learn much if you can wade through it.

By Lovingmarvin on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 - 05:45 am:  Edit

thank you....it was somewhat the same in the FKK's in Germany. If the girl liked you, there was great action otherwise not. Ultimately all that matters is chemistry. I'll be booking the trip later today or tomorrow. Can't wait to go.

Don't forget a trip report afterwards!

Enjoy...

I have stayed in hotels in Rio, but now, I will recommend to get an apartment instead. Why? because most hotels will require your "guest" to register and leave their ID on the front desk. This is what is known as walking with your girl through "the walk of shame". You won't like it, and she won't like it. The last straw for me was when I was waiting in my room for a (non-programa) girl friend and she called me from the front desk very distressed and embarassed because the staff will not let her go up to my room without her leaving her ID with them. I guess, she felt like they were treating her like she was in the programa. After this incident, she refuses to go up to my room, so I moved to an apartment.

I know that is actually a good system for your safety, but they also have a very good security procedure in apartments. Everyone, male or female, are asked their names. Then, the guard at the lobby will call you and inform you of your guest arrival. Since, they do this to everyone, your GF -- pro or non-pro -- won't be embarassed.

By Lovingmarvin on Thursday, December 11, 2003 - 05:48 am:  Edit

How do you find apartments?

By Badseed on Thursday, December 11, 2003 - 07:10 am:  Edit

LM:

You just about can't walk down the street in Copa without some tout trying to rent you an apartment... avoid them like the plague!

There are several internet apartment rental agencies/websites and guys who offer the service here on CH. Iwon't recomend anyone I don't knwo, but I do know and have had a very good experience with Kenn (he postsonthis board). His site is ez-riorentals.com and email is info@ez-riorentals.com. OK, enough advertising.

Two tips - unless you are absolutely crazy about having an beachview from your apartment, you'll save a lot of money getting a place a few blocks off the beach - there is nowhere further than 3 blocks from the beach in Copa, and you'll be seeing plenty of the beach anyway. And treat the doorman of your apartment well (i.e. tip him!), they know everything, see everything, and can be very good for keeping you out of hot water.

I've used nearly all the "American" apartment rental agencies at one time or another. They delivered every time except once, when one "bait and switched" apartments on me -- after having used him four times.

I now go through a Brazilian agency. I can write Portuguese better than I can speak it, and I communicate with the agency via email. I can now get a 1 bedroom in the area that I desire for $30-35. The American agencies charged me $50 for equivalent apartments. I'm not sure what the price dynamics are, but all the agencies will add about a third to the owners' price as their fee. Americans expect to rent apartments for $40-50. It appears that the owner's price might go up when an American rents -- the owner and agency makes more money ($5-15/day).

I'm not against an American agency making money, and I greatly appreciate them for making things very easy for me in the beginning. However, I've gotten even better results (location I desire with cheaper prices) using a Brazilian agency. When you are walking down the street and pass an agency -- you might be passing a good deal, as well. Of course, you will need some Portuguese.

For newbies, the American agencies are an excellent entre into the world of Rio apartments, and I do recommend them. They provide an excellent and much needed service.

By soccer on Thursday, December 11, 2003 - 09:53 am:  Edit

Needless to say, renting directly from a Brazilian owner will probably yield the best prices. I tried that approach via email once, but it was hard to get in contact with the owner and gave up. The vast majority of owners don't want the headaches of dealing with renters - especially, short-term Americans. Even though Americans represent the best return on their apartment investments. I hear that more and more owners are going the renting-to-foreigners route, and hence, the need for the agencies, who are ready to help demand meet supply. Now, whether there is an over-supply or an increasing potential for over-spply is another story.

By Theloner on Thursday, December 11, 2003 - 12:36 pm:  Edit

soccer,

Can you name some of the Brazilian agencies you've used?

By Badseed on Thursday, December 11, 2003 - 05:32 pm:  Edit

A) Yes there is an oversupply
B) Absolute cheapest, etc is just look in the paper (oglobo.com classifieds), apartment owners are advertising all the time.

However, to avoid hassle, language problems,etc.. paying an extra US$20 a night to an American agency may be worth it.

By Lovingmarvin on Friday, December 12, 2003 - 05:11 am:  Edit

Great information. I'll check it out. How difficult is to get a taxi if you rent an apartment? Want my first to be as safe as possible. One more important question - What are the prices the girls charge on average in the Terma's and bars? What is a reasonable counter offer?

By Catocony on Friday, December 12, 2003 - 08:16 am:  Edit

Marvin,

You do need to do some reading on the Rio threads, as your questions are answered multiple times on multiple threads, but termas have fixed prices - just check out the rate sheet when you enter. No haggling, no negotiation, which is one of the many reasons we all love termas. As far as Help, well, for an all-nighter 200-250 reals should get the job done, less for a 1-2 hour short-time. However, the phrase to once again remember is, "whatever you negotiate".

My personal recommendation for a first timer anywhere is to just do a hotel - see if you have enough Marriott points to stay there, you will love the place and the garotas will love it even more. If not, one of the standard hotels will do fine. Now, this is just my personal preference on the hotel over apartment - I just find hotels to be a less of a hassle than an apartment and for your first trip, you don't want to wind up fighting with one of the rental guys because the hot water doesn't work, the bed is lumpy, the AC is on the fritz, etc.

Plan B, of course, is that if you're trip is long enough (longer than a week) stay in a hotel for a couple of days to get your bearings, and then rent an apartment for the remainder of the trip.

You may determine after a couple of days that you are a terma guy, so a place to stay closer to Luomo/Monte Carlo might be better than closer to Help. Or, you may decide that Ipanema is for you, and you rent a place there. Or, you may decide that TA/Help is heaven and you'll want an apartment one block from the club.

Lovingmarvin... here is your research assignment.

1)Read Bwanadik's complete guide to Rio
2)Read GCL's Rio Observations

Then venture into some of the reports to get you in the mood. Some of my firsts that I read were:

- Sandman - New Year's Eve in Rio
and Out of the frying pan
- Bluestraveler - Don't forget to eat
- Seaman - In the express line in Rio
- Nyl12 - Something in the water

Those will get you in the mood and make you feel like you have already been to some extent.

To get an idea of a first trip read:

-Xenono - Putting my Portuguese lessons to work
and some crazy fuck named Aldaron's
-Aldaron - Two weeks in Rio
Also read the Addendum A of ALdaron - Best of Both Worlds for basic info you need that might have slipped thru.

Then print out UWphoto's cheat sheet with all of the termas and agencies addresses and phone numbers.

After all of that, go by a large box of condoms and make your air reservations. For a hotel, you can use Kenn at the link above or Don at riotrips, or Bobby at Blame it on Rio Travel. All have topic sections on this board.

You are going to have a great time so don't waiver.
