I am going to brazil Feb 3-9 for the first time. I am new to the website and new to brazil. I have many questions, but one is...Are cameras allowed in termas?
By Xenono on Monday, January 19, 2004 - 03:21 am: Edit |
The only termas where I absolutely, could not get a picture was Aeroporto. The maid watches you change into the robe and looks for a camera. And usually you are surrounded by two or three other women helping you change there as well.
All other termas were fair game.

hi tigerbr
i think it is like this, the owner orthe people in charge will stop you takin pictures in the terma& boite, but you can make a deal with the girl that you can take pictures of her in the cabin or suite

Hide your camera in your robe and don't take it out until you're in a cabina. At that point, take it out, lay it on the nightstand/counter and the girl will almost always at that point give you the thumbs up or thumbs down on getting some fotos of you.

I negotiate with the garota for photo when she asked me to go to cabin. 90% of the time, she will not risk losing session. It's not allowed to take pictures so be discrete. For lockers ladies, be nice to them and tip them here and there. Easy termas to take photos are Solarium, Monte Carlo, 4x4, 65, Luomo. Bit more difficult Centaurus.

I did manage at Centaurus to get the camera into the robe, but I had to be really discreet. There is also a BIG sign that says something about no cameras and photos allowed that is posted in the men's locker room, if I recall correctly.

Thanks for all your advice

The question may not be whether you can take a camera into a terma but whether the women will consent to their pictures and how much they will show. My admited limited experience was some will not show their faces at all while others have no problem. I suspect, like most things, how you come across will play a part.

I would defintely be discreet about the camera. Don't go waving it around, just quickly place it in your robe pocket while changing. On my August trip, I was never refused a photo once I got the camera into the termas, but some did request their faces be covered as Tight_Fit says.

I have seen so many friends with digital cameras in the termas I visited this first time in Rio,
but my limited experience in termas tells me that it is extremely easy to take pictures with garotas in Luomo, while is a little more difficult at 4x4, or at least all the garotas I was interested in Quattro por Quattro diddn't allow any picture...

I was in Centaurus a couple of days ago and the three girls that I asked if I could take pictures wanted no part of me. I even offered to tip them but they still declined and wasn't even interested in the amount. The girls I asked were top shelf looking girls. I am sure some of the lower tier girls would let you take pictures of them no problem.

Cueball.....sorry to hear you're having problem getting girl to post for pictures. I was there with you on that one day and I guess I was luckier than you as the lady I was with did not have a problem with me taking her pictures. I was really bragging about how beautiful her body was and wanted to have her picture to remember her and she was eager to post for the pictures.

Hello dfenderone7!
I enjoyed spending time with you finally in rio, you are a heck of nice guy. I wish I could have spent more time getting to know you but I went to Buzios for the weekend and spent a fair amout of time with my favorita from previous trips. But I did find time to make to Luomo and 4x4, and I remember seeing you at one of the places. The time spent at Terraco was fun, hanging with you guys. I am sorry that I had to depart so early after being there only 8 days, it was my work that caused it. I did not get to say goodbye to everyone, but everyone I knew there was neck-deep in nookie on my last day, so I guess they did not miss me.
Hope to see you and some of the other guys at one of our favorite haunts soon!

About six months at Monte Carlo I asked a newbie garota if she would let me take pictures. She said it was okay with her but she had to ask the manager if it was okay with the club. I accompanied her to talk to the manager, who said it was left to the discretion of the garotas. On the other hand, during a crackdown period, a garota at quatro y quatro, who had let me take pictures previously, told me they had a new policy of no pictures, and while she let me take some at that time, she was extremely paranoid about it, making sure my camera was well-hidden when I left the suite, etc. I haven't seen this level of paranoia at quatro y quatro on my last trip perhaps reflecting an easing of the policy since there is no ongoing crackdown. So there seems to be some variablity in the policies that may also coincide with the political climate at the time.
I have found that it is more difficult getting pictures these days than a couple of years ago (at least at the termas) but still managed to get quite a few on my most recent trip, although in some cases with some persistence on my part that was not necessary in the past. At Aeropuerto I went back to the locker room after initially changing and had no problem getting the camera into my robe; the problem there is I couldn't find a garota who would allow pictures (not that there were that many at that terma worth taking pictures of ).

Ablissman....likewise...it was great to have met you and party with you a little bit in Rio. I'm sure we will run into each other on future trips to CR or Brazil.

I was able to sneak a camera into AeroPorto almost everytime that I have been there. The maid and the "assigned" girl watches you when you change initially. I usually go take a shower, then come back and pretend to get something in my locker, then slip my extra compact camera (Minolta Dimage X) into the pocket of my robe.
The girls are usually cool with taking pics. Some girls will not show their face. I assure them that they can look at my pics and delete the ones that they don't like.
