I'm confirmed for Cali at end of month. Now I'm trying to decide among hotel options:
Rigo / San Fernando
Plaza las Americas
Alferez (Accor) - http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/fichehotel/gb/sof/3196/fiche_hotel.shtml
Suitehouse aparthotel - http://www.partres.com/suiteho/
I've read what's posted on the first two - anyone have any experiences with the others? Can our Cali-local CH'ers offer any info?
Thanks!

Forgot to mention Aparta Hotel del Rio is another option I'm considering.

I stayed again at the Hotel Plaza Las Americas - it's still my favorite. Nice new rooms and cheap. I received the corporate rate (see corporate contact from their website) of 107.000/night, me and my girl.
I visited the Cora Aparta-Suites, as I met a guy on the plane that was staying there, but it was not as nice as PLA... but cheap at 80.000-90.000 or something like that for a large apart-room. Great location west of Sexta, here's contact info:
Av 9N 17N-31
667-6021 or 667-8414

I know the IC has it, but does anyone know of any other hotel in Cali that has highspeed internet in the room?
Does anyone have any experience using Vonage from a hotel (IC or other) in Cali? How about from a cyber?
I want to travel to Cali in December and I need to work on the phone calling the US for a full day.
Thanks!

whats the best location within cartagena?
close to the beach, presumably, or in the old town??

Thespian, I stayed at both, but IMO, the best place to stay is walking distance to the beach (hilton, apartments, Da Pietro, etc). The taxis fares add up and don't have air cond. I like the fact that I can walk to and from LDV and the beach with minimal hassles, plus a lot of restuarants and internet cafe's are by the beach areas (Ave San Martin or near Hilton).
P.S. this thread is actually for Cali, this post is for CTG, diff't cities.

Is anyone going to be in Cali the end of July or first part of August? I am making plans for a week stay there and then a week in Bogota. Would love to hook up with some amigos.

I'll be in Cali at the end of the month and I'm looking for a hotel recommendation. Most of the info on Cali here is quite dated so I could use some current input. Here is what I'm looking for:
- Chica-friendly - preferably no guest fee, but if there is one, only after several hours
- Proximity to Action - reasonable walking distance to P4P spots
- $50-60/night max
- hot water
- in-room safe
- A/C
- Cable/satellite TV
Also, would I be okay showing up without a reservation or is booking ahead a must?
Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.

You'd probably want to stay in North Cali, which is nicer, more affluent and closer to many of the p4p places, i.e. Versailles.
Check out the thread on hotel plaza las americas, where many mongers including myself have stayed and enjoyed. Only thing is they didn't have any in-room safes as of a year ago.
I would always get a confirmed reservation, which is tricky as they only speak Spanish.
