throw the mattress on the floor. Then the creacky noise stops and no danger of the bed collapsing.

Does not look classy, but sure works.

Ok, I love hard mattresses, if you want them soft you have an additional problem.

I remember the first trip I made to Rio I rented an apartment from Bobby. The "mattress" was a thin piece of "foam" that had been absorbing moisture for much too long and frankly stunk (as well as being extremely uncomfortable). When I asked Bobby about this he said that was all they had in Brazil, no standard mattresses as we understand them in the U.S. Then, one day he showed me his own apartment which had your standard queen bed with box spring, etc. Since that time I discovered that at least the hotels I have stayed at and/or seen the rooms of all have standard beds, and for a number of reasons, including the above, I will never have anything to do with Bobby again.

Having said that, the mattresses in some of the rooms in the Atlantico Copacabana feel more like box springs than mattresses; the springs can be felt while you are attempting to sleep on the bed. However, when asked they will put a softer mattress on top of the "box spring."

I am curious though, with rented apartments do you usually get regular beds, or "Bobby specials.?"

All of Bobby's new apartments have box springs and regular mattresses.
