Hello =) I'm going to Rio for the first time this August. I am American but living in Bangkok (Monger) and when I first moved here I found some websites with the essential words I should know to get by.

Is there a site, or someone who posesses this knowledge here that can post the essential words and phrases I should know?

For example; How much for short time? How much for long time? That's too expensive. Do you do anal? Can I cum on your face/in your mouth? Do you like other women? Want to go to the beach? I want to fuck you. I don't want to fuck you. Stop. Go. Left. Right. Straight. Already. How much is the bribe, mister officer?

Instead of asking for short time or long time, heck I would never want any girl to stay overnight just for work, I ask girl if she wants to sleep with me:

Coming in mouth has not been easy to get in my experience but I am semi safado, but you could possibly ask:
eu posso gozar na boca?
It's too expensive
e carro de mais
Again for extra i politely ask:
voce beja o cuzinho? (you lick the ass)
voce faz anal? (you do anal? 'l' is not pronounced in brasilian sounds more like "anau")
I like to ask when i want to do 3some:
voce tem amiga? (do you have a female friend? they will get picture or use word dupla for 3some)
voce quer ir a praia? (you want to go to the beach)
To get rid of garota, I just say:
eu estou olhando (I am looking)

In all seriousness, buy some books and tapes/CDs. Taking notes from us here help you that much, i.e. when r's sound like h's, why h's are not pronounced, when d's and t's sound like jee and chee and when they don't, why s's sometimes are pronounced as z's and z's as s's, etc. Portuguese has some very unique pronunciations and you need to hear it quite a bit to make much sense of it.

Can someone translate this essential phrase?:

Other than those nonobvious pronounciations that you brought up, does Portuguese resemble Spanish in any way? For example, in Spanish vowels (aeiou) are pronounced (aw eh eeh ohh uuu) Are the double rr's rolled?

rr in Portuguese is pronounced like an H, similar to j's between vowals in Spanish. Spanish baja = Portuguese barra.

Even words spelled the same are frequently pronounced differently. Most of the vowels are, so something simple like amigo is different. Spanish = ah-mee-go, Portuguese = ah-mee-gu.

That's why we always say, yeah, Portuguese looks similar to Spanish on paper, with many words spelled the same, but the pronunciations are very different.
