Orthon Palace,yes i stayed there in the early days (talkin 1985) and i had a girlfriend,yes a normal girl who worked for Varig,and she would come to the hotel after work with her Varig uniform on and even then they wouldn't let her up to the rooms,the best hotel location but the worst policies

Based on info as of 2001.
AFAIK very garota UNfriendly. IMO it's also overpriced for the quality you get. In short, Avoid!

Yep, I stayed there in May 2004. The above information is pretty much the same. Absolutely no guest allowed in the hotel room. The hotel itself is very nice and close to all the actions are. Had an awesome view of the beach (Copa.). They even offer airport shuttle services (free of charge if you stay there). Your best bet is to book the room there and then take the girl to a motel (which should only cost you about 50-100 Brazilian Real = 20-40 US).

Well this is bummin me out. I have an opportunity to stay at the Othon Palce for free, but I'm not willing to take the chance on the girl policy.
I'm tempted to go and schmooze the guys at the desk in Portugese, and hand out some Reals. Ya know, the Brazilian way.
Any thoughts from anyone?

Pay a little to use the love motels for sex, stay at the hotel for free. Of course, TLN would be a little more expensive...
Check Bwana_Dik's guide, and look for facilities nearby in Copacabana not mentioned there.
Bribing may be difficult at the Othon Palace, from what I understand it's a pretty strict policy and a straight hotel....

I USED to stay at the Othon Palace and no longer stay there for this exact reason. I have tried it all. from bribing to having the Garota walk in backwards... Nothing works. They tend to nab you right at the elevator. Again, I ahve tried it all and nothing seems to work.

I love this hotels policies. You would think the garotos at the front desk would at least make some Reals on the side. that's one tough employer.

Great pics of Ghana, do you have any more, would like some info on Accra, what is the monger scene like there............I get messages from girls based in Accra............any info appreciated!!!!!
