What if I came there not knowing anything? Can i get by?
By Hemp on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 - 06:53 am: Edit |
You'll get by just fine. Remember: Money talks and bullshit walks! Have a great trip Dave. - Hemp

You can speak nothing but gibberish, and if you have cash, you'll have a great time. If you're worried, book a guide.

thanx for the response guys. do they take travellers checks everywhere down there? even the garotas? Or should I just bring cash and exchange it?
By Sandman on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 - 05:12 pm: Edit |
You can cash TC's at Cambios but do not get a great exchange rate. You get a better exchange rate with cash but there is always an element of risk in carrying large sums of cash and you are limited to R$10,000 (about $3,300 USD) upon entry. Best bet is an ATM card. You get very good exchange rates, do not have to carry large sums and can make daily stops for cash requirements.

How would you guys budget your money? Is $2000 enough spending money for seven days? I'd probably do only 2 chicks a day. Ya gotta eat too, ya know?
By Sandman on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 03:43 am: Edit |
Plan on $50-$75 per day for Apt. or Hotel; $25-$30 for food (drink not included); $150-$200 per day for 2 garotas per day; $15-$25 in Taxis; then, throw in another $25-$50 in discretionary expenses....which you will most likely incur in some fashion or another.
Lastly, "don't forget to eat"
By Bwana_dik on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 08:29 am: Edit |
Use cash or credit cards w/ the ATMs rather than TCs, as Sandman suggests. I would probably budget $2000-$2200 for a first trip of 7 days. The things that can boost your costs are duplas in termas, festas, and buying refrigerators for girlfriends. Most guys don't do these things (except, maybe, a dupla or two) on their first visit.
Have fun!
By Sterling on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 11:34 am: Edit |
Just in case you do feel the need to buy a refrigerator for a garota. Might I suggest you buy me one instead. I may not fuck you, but at least I'll still be speaking to you six months from now.

Sterling,
Unfortunately, you're such a nice guy that you'll still be talking to me 6 months from now even if I don't buy you a refrigerator. Sorry.

Man, im excited, i just bought tickets for Mar19-26. The only thing that Im worried about is that ill be screwing so many chicks that ill run outta money and starve! (which i probably won't do, i've learned my lesson in Tijuana) When you guys went to Rio, what did ya see more of in garotas: quality or quantity, or both?
By Sandman on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 05:35 pm: Edit |
You will probaly go for quantity on your first trip so bring a few extra bucks or plan on frequent visits to the ATM. Don't put yourself on too tight a budget and if you do, treat it like gambling in Vegas.
You will get carried away and probably blow the budget.....but will be planning your return visit when the front wheel of the plane lifts off on your departure.
By Sterling on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 05:54 pm: Edit |
Bwana,
Who are you callin' a nice guy? After all, YOU covered me on a VIP's festa when my ATM card went on the blink. That puts you in a league with Mother Teresa my friend.
Sterling

Mother Teresa and Bwana!!?? well yeah I can see it as they both look over the young women of Brazil..
Dave..you will for sure blow your budget..unless you stay at 4x4 everyday...
By Dongringo on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 08:59 pm: Edit |
Much like golf or yachting, this hobby is not about budgeting. Sure the value received overseas is far superior to what is available here in Gringaville, USA, however, noone likes to get to the 18th green and find his putter has run out of gas. I suggest taking out a home-equity line of credit before you leave. Borrowing from the appreciation you've earned in your personal residence will better enable you to appreciate all that the Brazilian garotas have to offer.
Oh - and whatever you do, do NOT tag more than 12 garotas in one day. Excess such as this is best left to the experts.
Yours in s'moring

12 is kinda pushin it for me. 5 a day sounds like good exercise. I'll probably sleep for 28 hours after that, but shit, why not. Are the ATMs down there safe to use? Do they dispense American dollars? Has anyone ever donkey punched a garota?
The questions people ask these days...
By Dood on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 07:42 am: Edit |
hahaha looks like we've added another term to the vernacular
Dave, I wouldn't recommend it..
From getoffended.com:
Donkey Punch is a very disturbing sexual manuever that we here at getoffended.com neither condone or have ever attempted. This is where, during doggystyle sexual activity, the man punches his partner as hard as he can in the back of the skull right before he reaches climax. This causes her to convulse and tighten every cavity. The man then holds on for the best orgasm of his life. Unfortunately this manuever is not at all pleasurable for the female partner.

Donkey Punch a garota in a terma and you'll end up with a bullet between your eyes. (Removed) Admin: Please do not threaten other CH members.
Sorry, I don't find such suggestions remotely amusing (just looking after the young women of Brazil, as Layne noted).

Gotta gang tackle you for the Donkey Punch comment.
These girls are sweet and we're damn lucky to have access to them. Don't even think about screwing this up for the rest of us. Precious few places americans are accepted graciously these days.
By the way, if you hit a garota you will get your ass kicked. By the garota first (remember the thread about the guy who got his ear bitten off?) and then by the terma staff. (Removed) Admin: Please do not threaten other CH members.

Dave, ask the poor unfortunate monger who got a little rough with a Centaurus garota if he would do it again. The first time didn't go to good for him - she bit half of his left ear off.
Also, what fucking good does getting US dollars out of an ATM machine in Brasil do? The point of using ATM machines is to get BRASILIAN CURRENCY. THEY DO NOT USE DOLLARS IN BRASIL, IT IS FOREIGN COUNTRY AND THEY USE THEIR OWN MONEY.
By Dave33 on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 11:01 pm: Edit |
aight, chill out guys. it was just a joke. I'm glad that CH removed all those threats because I have good intentions? I was just trying to bring up some sort of humor to so you guys have some sort of incentive to answer my questions. I'd never hit a girl. Sorry, if i offended anyone. Im just a funny guy. ask the girls.
By Dave33 on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 11:02 pm: Edit |
typo : I have good intentions?
should be: I have good intentions. Period

Please don't get mad at me for asking questions. That's why I joined this website. and if someone wants online beef, sign on AIM and instant message bomb me or something (tone: joking) but yeah, if you guys are gonna be all pissy on this discussion, go get a wife or screw a chick to make you feel better. I'm starting to find out that this is a shitty website, cuz nobody ever really helps. but thanx to those that try.

Dave, it seems that everyone is answering your questions. However, most of the questions that you ask are covered in previous trip reports provided by members of the board. I highly recommend reading Bwana's guide because it will give you a broad overview on what Rio has to offer. Then, you could read the advice/commentary section/archives. I personally think board members have been too patient with you. Use the resources of the site and become familiar with what Brazil has to offer and then ask specific questions. Don't expect to be spoon fed every single detail of information. Do some homework and stop worrying so much.

Amen Howard! Please don't enable Dave33 anymore.
Dave, we appreciate your youthful exuberance, but YOU need to do some ground work. Please don't take this the wrong way, I was a rookie too. Rio is an easy as falling off a truck if you do your research. I'm going to try to be there in March. If we're in Rio at the same time, I'll buy you a beer. You got to do the legwork, but trust me, it is worth it!!

thanx guys, i promise, this is the end of this thread.
