What is a good hotel for a first timer? Right now, I'm looking at the Rio Roiss. Do the clerks there speak English? I'd prefer a place to stay where there is no communication barrier. I speak minimal spanish. San diego mongers, ya know what i mean. Help please.

I`d recommend the Princess Copacabana. Much nicer, the clerks do speak english in either place.

Does Rio Roiss or Princess Copacabana allow us tourists to bring up chicks at no cost? Also, how do I make reservations? By web?

No, the last time i stayed at the Princss you could pay double and bring as many girls per day with no charge, although just one at a time, or pay single and pay extra for each girl you bring in. Check the travel agents on the site for res., Call Blame it on Rio or Don.

Another Hotel option is the Atlantico Copacabana. It's across the street from the subway and within walking distance of two termas (L'Ouomo and Monte Carlo).
A single should be about $45 US per night.
They charge some small amount to bring up a chica and the front desk speaks a little English.
As a point of reference the Princess is newer, nicer and the rooms are bigger. The AC is conviniently located, older and less expensive.

I second your suggestion Ixtoc, but upgrade to double room (the room's are much nicer). The staff at Atlantico won't tax your Garota's if you are in an upgraded room.

Fooledagain, there are travel agents on this site that can help me with reservations? lemme know.

Dave, I can help you with your reservation, I inboxed you.
Since guest fees seem to be an issue for you then maybe the Atlantico would be a better choice. Your coming in March and that is high season and the Princess will likely charge R$60 per guest.

Thanks Ice Man for the suggestion on the double room. I'll be back in Rio in Oct and will stay at the AC.

I've been very happy at the Mariott. Never a guest fee as long as you use some discretion.

I called the Princess recently, they said there was no guest fee, policy has changed over a month ago. Don't take my word for it, call and reconfirm.
The good thing about the princess is that it is around the corner from me, if you ever want to stop by.
Good thing about Atlantico Copacabana is that it is close to L'Uomo and madam Claudia. And to the metro, to go to downtown massage parlors and termas. But fairly far from the beach!!
I heard that Agents like Bobby can get better prices at the Princess. Did not verify this.

Hotel Arpoador also has no guest fees. Best location in Rio, right by the beach. Some people complain about the quality, but if you like to have your room right at the beach with no traffic in between, it is the only choice.
Splurge and get an oceanfront room!

BS; If you get a chance could you stop by the Luxor Regente and check on their guest fee's. Last time I was in town it was 50r but things change, I will be down in October.
Thanks RG
