I understand that I use my locker key as a credit card for drinks and such, but can I also give cash tips to the girls? I thought the answers made it pretty obvious. US style lap-dancing doesn't really exist in Rio, either. This is a good thing, as strip joints tend to be the biggest rip-offs as prostitution venues in the countries that have them such as Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama.

You can check out the Lido area clubs such as Barbarella to watch some of the dancers, but they are generally considered way-overpriced for service that is no better and looks that can probably be matched in terma runs.

Since Brazilians aren't going to be doing it, and no other tourists are going to be doing it either, go ahead and try your idea of tipping a few reais for lapdances at the termas if you enjoy it(it's relatively pointless as an indicator since the average quality of services provided by Brazilian girls is so high, many well traveled guys such as myself would argue they are the best in the world). Don't expect to get many names here since it's so uncommon.

Dártanan said it all...Lap dances pretty much do not exist in Rio. I have not seen lap dances in the termas nor in strip clubs like Frank's or Barberellas.

Hey guys.. well I have a few days under my belt now here in Rio and I've got a clearer picture about what is and is not available and how things work. Like you all said, lap dancing does not exist. When I ask girls for it, they have no clue what I'm talking about. Even if they did, I wouldn't ever tip them extra for it, at least in the termas, as ít's their job to seduce. I asked the managers at other places like Barbarela's, and they said it is against Brasil law. Funny that the only thing legal in the US is illegal in Rio. And Barbarela's is expensive, the one girl I talked to quoted me 900 reals for an hour!

OK guys, I'm back in Medelllin now, but had a pretty good time in Rio. I went to about 7 different termas, including 4X4 (only 30 cover, and free if you take a girl before 5) and had 6 girls there, all in the same day. Monte carlo in Rio - a very friendly place on the 10th June. As I visited during early evening, the girls were fresh and eager to be friendly and intimate, despite my advanced age.
