Some friends and I were in POA this past monday and tuesday, and we visited Carmen's monday, and Gruta Azul tuesday.

Upon entering, you are given a drink card with your first name hand written on it. Your minimun consumption is 60R, which is approximately a total of five drinks, your preference of either whisky, beer, or sodas. They also serve Red-Bull, and your allowed only four of those for the 60R solely, and it is the preferred drink of the garotas. If you go over in any combination of the above, you just pay the difference.

The main area of the club is in the back, ground floor. It's a little dark inside, with many small tables and chairs surrounding a single dance pole/platform, where a garota comes out and dances strip-tease every 30 or 45 minutes.

A friend did comment to me that it is a little too dark to get a good visual inspection of a garota!

Now for the services to be rendered, "dine in, or take out"? You should alway's ask what's on the desert menu! Completa, BBBJ, and so forth!

Dining in, whatever a garota quotes you a price, she must deduct 50R for the one hour use of a room. And they usually ask for 200R, meaning they get to keep 150R, 50R for Carmen. A blonde lady in her forties? There should be no extra charge for the room on your bar tab.

Take out, Carmen's charges you 150R departure tax. And again, you pay the garota directly whatever you negotiate. And they usually ask for 300R for the standard couple of hours. And then you try to negotiate them down whatever you can?

My gringo friends who speak a little Spanish and even less Port., wanted take out, and were able to get it discounted another fifty.

Now the gringo/tourist TAX! It was getting a little late, almost 3 am. The garotas were talking to me about my friends and what hotel we where "holing up" in? They tell me they might be able to get Carmen's take out tax reduced to 100R? I say "oitimo", they come back and say Carmen said o.k. to her 100R dept. fee each.

When I asked for the bar tab and we head out, the cashier tells me the dept. tax is the normal 150R! What goes thru my mind, is that Carmen saw us being gringos/tourists and wanted all her fee! I quickly talked to the garotas about the reneging of the discount, and that it wasn't right! They of course know Carmen much better than me, and said they each would reduce their session fee by 50R. So in the end, the total would be the same? (more about that later) If it was me, I would of just paid my bar tab and walked out, forget about the programa and Carmen's fee. The garotas would lose their 250 each, and Carmen would of loss 200R. You guy's know there are plenty of other garotas to be had:-)

I would of quickly told the garotas to "cum" to our hotel after work, if still interested? And personally have done so many times, to avoid paying the bar fine/dept. tax! I prefer to pay the garota a little extra, her fine or the tax, especially if she "cum's" thru for me:-)

Now for the after session results, both garotas were great looking chicks with bodies. And both delivered as promised. One garota left with her 200R, but she had no car, the other asked for an extra 50R and got it, but she did have a car, and drove all of us back to the hotel.

IMO, after also visiting Gruta Azul, Carmen's is still the better value, bang for the buck! And I will compare the two!

Carmen's or Gruta Azul?

Gruta's interior has changed from when I was last there over two year's ago. And somehow I do miss the old decor, with the spiked cones hanging down from the ceiling, like in a cave, awash in blue. Now it looks more like a regular nightclub, with two raised walkways/platforms and poles for two dancers on each to boogey away, awash in blue by a strobe light.

They also charge you 60R entrance fee that allows different combinations of beverages to drink, as in Carmen's.

But there are differences, at Gruta, if you do a garota on the premises; YOU are charged the 75R room fee. And are also required to consume another 40R in drinks, whether you do so or not! Your minimum drink fee is now 105R, consume more than that, and you pay the difference.

Be careful here "remember", when paying the garota her negotiated fee! You being non-Brazilian, will alway's be quoted a higher price, that can be negotiated down? But, I did see Brazilians paying 200R for a one hour session. My friends ended up paying 300R per session, that was completa with BBBJ, and two shots. Luckily I had the stapled drink cards in my possesion, and followed my amourous friends up a floor to get the bill written up. The cashier just assumed?, we were going to pay our bill by credit card, and proceded to hand write the garota fee of 335R on the bill. I questioned him about the extra 35R, and he tells me its a CC service charge. He could of just asked me how we were going to pay the garota, cash or credit? When paying cash, you pay her directly. Avoid getting your bill quietly padded! Gringo tax? But when we left, we paid by CC, and there was no extra CC usage fee.

So each of my friends ended up paying 105R drinks fee, 75R room fee, and 300R garota fee. Total: 480R for an evening with a one hour poke:-) But both were pretty garotas with very nice bundas, and silicone breasts.

I would say that more than half the garotas inside had silicone implants and some type of bunda work?

At Gruta, you get to see more bikinied garotas in favorable lighting, than at Carmen's. Where you only get to see one dancer, if any, strip-tease at one time. Both places had great looking garotas, and some not so great one's, as any where else. Making you wonder how they make some money? Gruta also put's on various shows and strip-teases.

Therefore show wise and ambience, Gruta is better. Programa wise, Carmen's is cheaper. Especially if you "do it" at Carmen's. It's almost a wash in talent, beauty is in the eye of the beholder/hombre.

All these clubs are close by the main road, Ave. Farrapos. And a Cafe Photo, POA is also being built nearby.

Hope this helps:-) also Carmen's is only open monday thru friday. Get cell numbers discreetly, and have a Carmen girl "cum" over after hours, or on weekends. But it must be discreet, because if Carmen find's out, the garota is banned from working at Carmen's forever. As I was told.

I give the thumbs up to Carmen but it is very expensive on par with Cafe Millenium in Sao Paulo. So shit dont expect any saving if you go to POA, less options than in SP but same level of talent. I did well with my selection but i think it was luck more than anything. Easily dozen pretty girls out of 80 girls to pick from. If girl has silicon, she cannot work at Carmen, end of story. Carmen runs a tight ship. Make sure to use free courtesy taxi as entrance is R$60, room is R$100 per girl and session usually R$200. I was very happy to find some Recife girls who were recruited as working as escorts back home. Attitude blew anything south of Rio so I decided to grab all three. Problem was room was going to be R$300 so owner intervened to make it more friendly. It was the best session of my life so was it luck or are recife garotas just so unhinibited, 1 was 18, other 20 and 23? I am not impressed with gaucha attitude but I was very appriecative to find a sweet 19 the next day and another cute 19 another day. I cannot say whether or not POA is worht a shot. Same level of talent as SP. POA is a modern city with wide roads, cars driving slow, nothing to do besides work. Mall is full of beautiful women but upper end shopping for Xmas. I could easily live in POA if I had to, dry heat, warmer than SoCal. Saw some nice homes, in the R$900k range, real estate is not cheap in Brasil.

Dry heat...that's hilarious! You got lucky. POA is infamous for its humidity...much worse than Rio or the NE. I had a student in POA who was from Aracaju in Sergipe, and he complains bitterly about the humidity in POA, both in summer and winter. Fall and spring are great, and reasonably dry, but it's usually very humid in the summer.

But other than the humidity, it is a very livable city. Cost of housing is relatively high in POA because POA has the highest education and income levels in Brasil.

I was there only 3 days in POA, first day very hot and dry, next day greyish like i was in Portland, then last dry partially cloudy.

Too funny. And the Embaixador is located in Centro, which is pretty confusing to drive in with tiny narrow streets that turn every which way.

Very, very confusing because most of those tiny streets are one way. The Embaixador was actually a pretty nice Hotel, nowhere near as nice as the Sheraton in Moinhos de Vento (sp) and the surrounding neighborhood. My engineer friend tells me propane hybrids are safe, however, I felt pretty damn uncomfortable driving around with a huge propane cylinder in the trunk...

I would have felt uncomfortable driving around with Diversity riding shotgun. Who knows what pissed-off garota could have taken a shot at you, or at least thrown a cell phone at the car.

Things have changed for the worse. Rode taxi to Carmen. Club said it stopped the courtesy taxi a while back, & added the taxi fare on my ficha (drink) card. Later I crossed out the taxi charge.

Cover 50 c/ 3 bebidas. One gaucha immediately found me & started the sales pitch: bbbj, anal, etc. 200 + 70 room. But like Gruta Azul, no touching breast or bunda permitted in the boate. A fat, unattractive middle-age lady roamed around. Gaucha said that was Carmen.

Total 30-40 garotas. They resembled 2nd- & 3rd-tier TJ Adelita Bar chicas - fake breast, heavy makeup, lipo, dyed hair, pro attitude...

Carmen's Club is still a place where you can find English speaking waiters and at least one woman. I just came from there where Lucas connected me with Ellienne (not sure the spelling).
