Never been to Rio and had this thought...
1. Do termas cater to women clients as well? I have read that Solarium does a swingers thing but what about if a woman wanted hot lesbo action?
2. Can you take a translator into the termas? Do they frown upon that? (well just into the boite at least , i guess it would be a bit strange in the cabin .. lol)

Non-Brasilian women are allowed in some of the termas, with a male escort. Solarium and Luomo are definitely cool with women, I'm not sure about the rest.
As far as translators, any guy can go in a terma, however unless it's Don or maybe a few of the other well-known guides, the translator will have to pay the entry fee, for drinks, etc.
As far as the termas frowning on guys who go in but never session, you just described a lot of Brasilian guys! They are the guys who treat termas like a strip club - they hang out in the boite, fondle the girls, etc but never session. The terma still gets its entry fee, plus food and drink, the but girls get nothing since they never sessioned. So, in summation, feel free to take anyone with you to the termas, but if they're not there to session, make sure they know how to behave themselves in the boite.

A lesbian friend and 'fellow' hobbyist once asked me to escort her to Luomo.
