I've stayed at Marriott couple times before @ around $200 per night in low season. The food, ambience, security, nice car, rooftop, view of the ocean all were worth the money for me. TEHO.
Now one of my buddys (there were 3) has to cancel and the other guy is concerned about $$ more and wants to stay next door at the Luxor Copacabana. The rooms are $145 thereabouts after taxes. Also, when I stayed at Marriott before, never stayed over 5 nights, so hotel bill was little over $1000, so no prob for me. Now I'm staying for 8 nights, My friend won't pay for Marriott, I need help on how much of a step down the Luxor Copacabana is from the Marriott. I know it's old---it's right next door to the Marriott. I have reservations to both. Luxor Copa for 8 nights will be almost $1200. Marriott over $2100. Please no lectures on how cheap I can get an apt, another hotel, rant on money; Money is not a prob for me, but just don't want a huge step down from Marriott--$900 could be used for a little fun ;-) also. $900 is $900--anybody out there stayed at Luxor Copacabana and can help me. Thanks Ron

I've never been to the Marriott. The Luxor Copa is a pretty nice hotel. You only want to stay in the superior or the deluxe rooms, though. The standards are tiny. The superior rooms have a little balcony and an ocean view, the deluxe are ocean front.
The view from the deluxe rooms is great, assuming you are more then a few floors up. Cerytainly has good security. Very garota friendly, no extra fees. They sometimes will give you a hassle if the girl is under twenty one during the daytime. I've never had the night guy say anything.
