taxi prices are usually that, taxi prices. You might even insist on a receipt, if you ask for it in advance.

If you ask the girls how much the first taxi leg was, they usually quote it directly, like R$ 11.

Taxi prices increased about 2 months ago. If you pick a time that has bandeira 2, or a heavy traffic jam, that also increase prices. But R$ 40 is a bit stiff. Maybe the driver gave them the runaround.

Maybe the girls came from Barra and charged you the entire rate, instead of charging half of it to the prior customer.

unfortunately 97% of agencies do NOT allow you to go to the office. Mainly for legal reasons, to avoid police raids, neighbor complaints, etc.

The most you can do is pick up girls downstairs near the agency, so that you can send them back immediately and ask for another girl.
