I highly recommend if you want to go to the Beach and want to be in a clean safe environment you go to "Marcelo - American Tent" Barraca located in Ipanema across from Caesar Park Hotel. The Barrace is co-owned by an American named John and they will treat you great. Tell then you are a Club Hombre member and they will roll out the Red Carpet for you. You can rent beach chairs, have drinks and some food in a clean safe area. There is a lot of Garotas that hang around this area also and many are P4P. - Hemp

I have had the same experience in Impanema. On the weekend, I walked on the beach and twice got approached by girls. One of the girls I later saw in 'Help'. The girls made it pretty obvious. The only thing is that they are not as numerouos as in Copa, but there are a few. The key here seems to be that the sun is out and it is the weekend, otherwise it is slim pickin.

So is John's a good pick-up place, like Praia das Putas used to be before it got overrun with males, views hidden by the umbrellas they required to protect their delicate skin?
I'd love to find a beach I can go to for both the beach and the likelihood of meeting a sweetie-du-jour.

I can confirm that Posto 9 is about 1/2 block to the left walking out the Ceaser Park (between Johanna Angelica and Vinicius Moraes - but closer to JA).

Oh, and the concert there Sunday night (wel, closer to Leblon as the stage was directly infront of Hotel Praia Ipa) was real fun with an amazing crowd - tons of young hotties. Ricardo Siveira was good as was the reggae dude afterwards.
