Hey fellas
During my first visit to Rio this month I will need to make a few phone calls back to the states every day I am visiting. I am going to take my Vonage hookup but if I cannot find an ethernet port to use it with (in the hotel) what is my next best option (phone card)? Does anyone have an international phone card company they have used to call back to the states? Can you please post the website if so...

All calling cards will work, from pretty much anywhere. You can go to an Internet cafe and use the phones there, you can call from a rented cell phone, etc etc. Your Vonage should work if you have broadband at your hotel, but if not there are plenty of other options.

You have only one BEST option. All other options are not BEST.
Use your Vonage box, and call home free. It's a no brainer. If it doesn't work at your hotel, go to Tudo Facil on R. Xavier da Silva (next door to Bobby). They have a network that you can plug right into - plenty of visitors do it every day, and they allow it, and know how to help you (although I can't say I'd just show them your box... I've always used the Vonage softphone and don't carry my box).
There are other cybers that will work, maybe cheaper maybe not. But Tudo doesn't require that you specify an IP so thus no changing your settings... and there'll be no problems with the Gateway settings and Vonage.
