What is the best time of the year to visit Medellin?
Thanks RG.

July or August
Colombian Moda first, a week of model shows and fashion related conventions spread around Medellin.
Flower festivel second, several days of differant parades, horses, vintage cars, flowers and loads of women.
I don't know the dates for this year, but I think the flower festivel is at the end of July and Colombian Moda is in the second week of August.

Colombiamoda is 17th-19th August. If your heart can take it do not miss the underware fashion part.
The La Feria de las Flores is (I think)5th-11th August. Must see: the caballoero and Desfile de Silleteros.
I would have advance lodging arrangements as this are popular events

I was there from mid june to mid july and renters + others kept mentioning that it was high season. This being my first trip, i had no clue and just took their word for it.
After a couple weeks had pasted, a friend (who has been going to ctg for a long time) and i had concluded that it was all b.s...there was definately a lack of tourists during that time, particularly the end of june and the beginning of july.
still don't when high season is. Low season on the other hand might be around december as many of the girls i knew were going on "breaks" during that month.

There are three high seasons in Cartagena:
The last week or two of December and first two weeks of January.
The week around Easter.
Miss Colombia in November, again for about a week.

I'm thinking of going Thanksgiving week or Dec. 15-31st. From what I understand Dec 15-31 is super high season. How are either of these times for mongering though? THanks.

Marley, it is only high season in certain places like Ctg then.
Which city are you interested in?

Cartagena. Does high season mean a lot of chicas and mongers or a lot of tourists/families and bad time to be there for mongering. I don't mind paying up for room, but if pickings are slim or too many mongerers chasing too few chicas, I'll opt for another time. I gotta think at least Thanksgiving would be OK, no?.... THx

There will not be any shortage of chicas during the last half of Dec. In fact there will be many more from which to choose. If you like crushing crowds and high room prices, go for it.

Gents,
I am scheduled to touch down @ Medellin on May 12th. What weather is typical for that week? Before any one posts something dum like check the weather forcast...I already did and we know how accurate those darn things are. I simply want to know what to expect so I can be prepared with the correct clothing etc. Thanks...

At the risk of sounding cheeky, the forecast will probably be as close as someone's recollections. Generally it rains a lot with a high around 80 and a low around 60. I have a novia in Guarne near the airport. On the phone today she said that it was cold and rainy. Of course she is much higher than Medellin.

I spent the last 8 days in Medellin. The first 4 were very hot, and didnt cool off all that much in the evening. The next four there were torrential downpours on and off and it got much cooler ' especially at night.
There is no way to know in advance what you are going to get. The range is a high of 85 and a low of 60 and there will be sun and there will be rain.
