I have been in Bogota briefly since I lived for six years in the interior of Colombia in a very small city/town.
But this is what I can offer to help you:

Non-hobbyist point of view:

Malls: Unicentro & Centro Comercial Andino and Santa Barbara if you want some awesome leather products.

Bars: tell a cabbie to take you to "la zona rosa" which is in the north of Bogota, I think it is close to the Centro Comercial Andino. Lots of bars and restaurants, and its safer in this area.

Monserrate: You can go up to a little village on top of this mountain with a church. You need to take a train that goes straight up or a cable car. Bogota is very high up and this mountain top is even higher. Pack a heavy jacket and get ready to breathe heavy! Nice place to buy soveiners.

Iglesia de Sal: Out of Bogota is Zipaquira a small village with the Iglesia de Sal which is a church that you can reach by walking like half a mile in a cave or mine. Long walk and dark. When you reach the end of this tunnel or cave it opens up into a church. Really awesome. This place is in the middle of rock. Kinda scary.

Stay clear of El Sur de Bogota (South Bogota)...trust me, slums, high crime, industrial.

--------------------------------------------------
Now to the hobby point of view:

Never catch a pirate taxi. You can call a taxi agency directly and hire a cabbie by the hour which will be cheaper. There are two options: Strip clubs and homes/apartments.

Tell him to take you to a strip club "llevame a un club con chicas en el norte de bogota que es seguro sin peligro" ...this will let him know you want a safe club in the north of bogota. If you dont like it, tell him to take you to another one. He will either go inside with you or wait outside. If you speak spanish it will be easier to do all this.

If you want to go to apartments tell him "llevame a una casa de masajes, o una casa donde hay hembras buenas pero seguro y sin peligro"
That means you want to go to a massage place or house with fine chicks that is safe without danger. If you dont like the place, just tell him to take you to another one.

If the cabbie doesnt know where, tell him to radio his friends. Usually the dudes that are outside of the strip clubs know of other places, both public and private. Just tip them.

You will probably stay in a place really fast since most colombian chicas are fine. Once you learn of the places you like, just ask for the address or a card and you are on your way (I expect a nice trip report dude! hahaa)

Hope this helps and I hope you have GFE's.

Remember:
Dont carry lots of money, and never take pirate taxis.
When you get to Bogota Airport, dont stand around the exit doors, go quickly to this circular road where the taxis do circles picking up customers, dunno if it is the same these days, I believe there is a window set up with a stamped ticket to your destination so you dont get ripped off and you take this ticket to the taxi where they line up for you in a circle or something. Just ask for "un taxi autorizado del aeropuerto"
If you take an unauthorized taxi from the airport, you are setting yourself up! I have had friends get robbed like this. Dont leave your bags unattended and dont talk to strangers...just move quickly out of the airport. Dont be stressed, it aint that bad, just gotta be slick and quick.

Hello,

I plan to travel to Bogota in the next few weeks, and maybe Barranquilla. I am a bit aprehensive about security. In places like Colombia I always like knowing what to expect. Also, I prefer the privacy of my hotel room, is this doable or will it be a hastle? Who do you call? Isn't there a war going on?

Could who be a little more specific in what you want to know?

By Lanzan on Friday, July 05, 2002 - 08:51 am:  Edit

Gator,

I had not read all the other info available when I posted on wednesday. It looks like you know the place very well. What I want to know is where to look for a girl in Bogota, which is where I will most likely spend most of my time in Colombia. I was in Cali a few years ago and my friend hooked us up with girls, he just asked the door man at the hotel (who looked in the paper). No doubt we paid too much, but it was great. Any help would be apreciated.

Also, I guess it is better to post under the general South America chat, I'll try that from now on.

By Gator on Friday, July 05, 2002 - 07:47 pm:  Edit

Look at it this way, with six million plus people in Bogotá we will assume half are women and of that half 20 percent will be one the make if only 1 percent of that 20 percent are hot for your body that means 6,000 are after you. Seriously, you basically have two choices: The north end, called La Zona Rosa, roughly Calle 82, between Carreras 11-15.This part of the city is made up of an combination of a residential area with shops, restaurants, cafés and hot discos. La Zona Rosa is reat for nighttime activities or shopping
and there is a good range of hotels of excellent quality in the area.

La Candelaria is downtown and is Bogotá's oldest district and its historical center, dates back to the city's foundation. and is roughly located between calle 7 and Avenida Jiménez de Quesada, and between Carreras 1 and 15. Amust for daytime exploring and has some funky discos that jump but the crowd is young.

Couple of malls that may be good hunting is Unicentro and Centro 93 both in the north end. Since I don't know where you are staying suggest you make friends with the doorman. A nice upfront tip, say 10usd helps here. Hook up with an english speaking cab driver and retain him for the night. record the places he taks you for a later visit because he is likely getting a commission.

I would hit on some of the shop girls. they are
young know where the action is and might even end up as a date.

There are tons of nightspots in La Zona Rosa but, like here, go in and out of favor quickly. seek local advice to find out what is in.

Don't forget the tourisy stuff-the Gold Musuem down town is a don't miss

By Pacifico on Sunday, August 04, 2002 - 04:30 am:  Edit

If you stay in the Candelaria area of Bogota, you will be within walking distance of the gold museum and the emerald trade center, as well as a couple minutes by cab to Monserrate. There are several decent old-style hotels for the $25-40 range..

There was nice hotel for only $25(prices were all listed in pesos, and the staff does not speak any english), that was in a building that was at least a few hundred years old, and very nice "antique" furnishing. I don't remember the name, but it is a few blocks north and approximately six or so blocks east of the emerald trade center, and one block east of a coffee house that is inside a train car.

The area around 49th street has many many clubs with working women. But be really careful around that area. One that comes to mind that has really beautiful women, and is not expensive, just tell the cab driver to take you to Whiskeria 49. When I was there, I dont remember seeing any women below a 7! If you guys want more details, let me know...

Gator,

I will be traveling to Colombia later this month with 3 nights in Bogota, 1 night in Bucaramanga, and 1 night in Medellin. I will make it a point to visit the gold museum in Bogota. I imagine a hotel in the north side of town is the way to go, any specific recommendations?

What about Bucaramanga and Medellin? Can you make any recommendations for me about these two cities?

Since I have seen a lot of good ifo here I plan to keep meticulous notes on all my experiences and will be reporting once back in the country.

Peace.

I have been living as a european in Bogota / Colombia for some years. In the "disco and bar district" you will find a lot of bars with names like "Moulin Rouge" or something similar. Inside you will find a good number of girls , generally from 18 to 25 years old. Most of them had a child in young years, so even if they are intelligent and nice, they had to leave school. This means, that they are very nice and you can enjoy a good talk with them. They will readily spend some time with you in an extra room (for you as a "gringo" for quite an expensive price of maybe 50 US $, + about 20 US $ for the room. For this price, you will spend a very good time with them, without a hurry. You might also pay a fee for leaving the bar together with her (about 40 US $), and go to a motel.

You might consider these prices quite expensive, but consider, that you will get very nice and beautiful girls, in a secure surrounding (what is very important in Colombia).

Is there a venue like LDV in CTG in Medellin, Bogota, or Cali? Where you can go in, pick a semi-pro and give her a "gift" of $100-150k peso for the evening.

By Lamuerte on Thursday, July 08, 2004 - 07:18 pm:  Edit

Slug,

There are similar venues in each city, although they have differences. In Bogota, there are more places to get some tail than I could count. Many of them operate at night, and are take-out style (e.g., Lido, Casanovas, etc.). The difference is that in these places in Bogota, you have to pay a take-out fee to exit with the girl (they ask for 70k, but you can counter-offer 40k and they'll probably accept). I've never paid more than 100k to a girl in one of those places, but they'll ask for more.

Cali and Medellin have venues of their own, like Flores Frescas in Cali and Fase 2 in Medellin. Those are places with take-out fees as well.

In all of those places the girls are pros, but in my opinion so are all the girls at LDV in Cartagena.

There have been some awesome trip reports on Cali recently, so check those out. I've posted a few on Bogota as well which tell more about what that city has to offer. I encourage you to read those.

By FLhobbyer on Thursday, July 08, 2004 - 07:47 pm:  Edit

Slug, to my knowledge there is no such place in Cali.

Your description as I understand it fits a place like Help in Rio. A good place that has a lot of girls that are not working for a house, that enter on their own in hopes of finding a session. Kind of like a place that creates a market for buyers and sellers.

FF in Cali is not what you describe, not a place where a girl with a normal job that isn't a fulltime provider can go for a session when she wants to work... it is a pure whore house - girls working for a house, sex on site, and if you want you can take a girl out by paying the house and paying her more.

By Slug93 on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 12:00 am:  Edit

exactly FLH, I know about the "usual suspect" places in Cali/Bogota/medellin like Loutron or FF, but I wonder why LDV is the only place where you don't pay the house. Wonder if it's because it's own by a foreigner vs locally-own&operate like other places. But I'll checkout what LaM said about take-out style, if it's anything like Manila House (60k casa fee + 200k/24 hr for chica) I'm happy! Don't get me wrong, I like the standard places too. It's just I most of the time I don't want to feel rush(I always feel alittle rush if it's 1-2 hrs) and I don't have to get a stunner(9/10) all the time mostly I like 7/8 with good attitudes. I just thought that CTG is tourist so more expensive than the rest of Colombia.

By FLhobbyer on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 06:59 am:  Edit

You are right, you probably won't find a TLN (I only like TLN and not 1-2 hour sessions - unless I'm doing a quickie at a house or Terma/Brasil) with a 9 or 10.

With all the chicas willing to be providers in cities like Cali - it's too bad there isn't a mini-Help type place.

By Hunter on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 11:24 am:  Edit

Cartagena has a lot of foreign visitors and I would say the LDV caters mostly to foreigners. You can walk around for days in Cali and not see a foreigner, sometimes I don't see a foreigner in Medellin for months.

A bar where chicas could go to get money for shopping, rent, or spending money and mongers could get amateur talent, would do well I would think. Especially in Bogota because it has more expat & wealthy colombian than other cities.I think that would be a great business to open. Hint... hint.. fellow mongers. I know, I know... just my wishfull thinking. Afterall you i'm sure you have to deal with bribes, protection money, marketing, pissed off competitors, etc.,

I don't believe it is a good business for a foreigner to be involved for the reasons that you stated.

By Tim3rexes on Saturday, December 03, 2005 - 08:27 am:  Edit

Here is some info on the massage parlour picture I posted. It is located on Calle 61 #15-42. I found it in the sunday El Tiempo advertising at 40,000 pesos for an hour. When I arrived I was buzzed in and entered a dimly lit dingy looking building and was told to sit on a couch. Three women then entered the room and I was asked to pick one. The first girl that entered was named Karla. She was short and slightly chubby but cute in the face. The other two girls were both fat and plain to ugly looking. One was latina and the other one was black. I picked Karla and went upstairs where they had several rooms available. We undressed and I tried to go down on Karla but she refused at first. I offered her 20,000 pesos extra and she said ok. After that we had a great hour together and she gave me her phone number so we could meet later. I couldn't talk her into letting me get a picture though even when I offered her more money for one. All in all this place wasn't bad for the money(60,000 pesos for an hour with an 18 year old). However, no one in this place spoke any english at all. I had my ad with me and showed it to the man who answered the door.

By Lamuerte on Saturday, December 03, 2005 - 08:45 am:  Edit

Sounds like a typical reservado in that neighborhood (Chapinero section of Bogota). In that neighborhood a good modus operandi is to walk along Avenida Caracas (the main street where the Transmilenio operates) and collect all of the little flyers and business cards that the guys are passing out. Then stop by each one and experience the lineups until you see something you like.

The majority of girls in these places are average looking, but you can certainly find some good talent if you spend a little time looking.

Thanks for the post,

LM

Are there any mongering places in La Candelaria area.

By Colombianbob on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 - 06:03 pm:  Edit

The area known as santa fe is realively close 24th and Caracas. The places I recommend are La Piscina, Atunas, La Paisa, and El Castillo. It is one of those places that is much better if you speak spanish but you can manage just fine. They say it is dangerous but only if you want to be a target. I doubt it is any different then the other mongering places in the world.

I lived in El Centro for two years and visited Santa Fe quite often. Short time in Santa fe is from 25,000 COP to 60,000 COP depending on the place and the girl.

Bogota for some reason isn't a big mongering place based on the posts that I've read. Probably because the weather sucks.

But since it is in the biggest town, you have the biggest selection in girls and price.

Some places in la zona rosa around 86 and 15 that you should check out are Casanova and extasis. They cost more then down south but the quality is better.

La Whiskeria 49 on 13 and 49 is a place to check out as well. Most of the girls from Santa Fe go there around 10PM to 11PM.

My info may be a little stale since I moved 18 months ago.

Good luck!

By Dallas on Saturday, October 28, 2006 - 06:14 am:  Edit

Colombianbob nice write up, you are right about the weather in Bogota, it sucks.

La Paisa is my favorite club in Bogata, a liitle on the rough side, but i've never had a problem there.
Mainly working class colombianos just there to watch the show and drink.
The girls are in the 5/6 range but if you take your time you can find a 8. Try them out for 30,000 COP on site then have then come to your hotel later in the night or the next day. Also some gems are to be found in the samll clubs on the same street.
The clubs near the zona rosa Casanova and extasis i found to be way to expinsive. I refuse to pay 20,000COP for a beer and 80,000 COP take out, plus the 150,000COP for her.

By Colombianbob on Sunday, October 29, 2006 - 08:24 am:  Edit

Thanks Dallas

I'm a big fan of La Paisa also. Closest thing to a strip joint I found in Bogota.

Your explained very well the situation up north as well. You have to wait until the clubs close at 3am and make a deal outside with one of the chicks. 80,000 COP plus for the what is left of the nite.

The scene always reminds me of something out of a wallstreet trading floor. I've seen guys negotiate with 3 chicks at the same time within 5 feet of one another trying to get a better price. LOL.

This strategy isn't for everyone because of the time of the day you have to negotiate but, you can work it into your advantage if you have the stamina.

Can someone help me out and explain where Santa Fe Zona Roja is? I've been here 3 days and no one has ever heard of it. From some of the addresses, it looks like it should be west of centro? How safe is the neighborhood?

By Mitchc on Monday, May 11, 2009 - 06:22 pm:  Edit

Santa Fe and Zona Rosa are two completely different neighborhoods. Zona Rosa is the nice neighborhood located around Calle 82 and Carrera 11. Santa Fe is the sketchier neighborhood located just south of downtown. Santa Fe is not very safe. Zone Rosa is safe.

By bluelight on Monday, May 11, 2009 - 09:07 pm:  Edit

thanks - I'm just figuring out these road numbers, it still seems like it should be west. But I think we'll stick with the north. Spent today investigating apartments. Fantastic results. trip report and photos will be coming but I do not like this altitude. 8000' really is a different experience.

By Colombianbob on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 - 06:43 am:  Edit

Santa Fe is located at calle 24 and Caracas (Caracas is like carrera 14). That is the northeast corner. The zone goes west of this corner about 3 blocks. Then south about 3 blocks then back east to Caracas. You can take the Transmilenio there and get off at the cra 22 or cra 24 station.

Inside this square there are probably 30 different bars with chicas in it. Plus another 20 or so residencia type places with girls. You can pay frome 20,000 COP to 50,000 COP in this zona.

The neighborhood isn't the nicest looking but you can manage this place. Stick to the La Piscina, La Paisa, El Castillo and you won't have any problems.

This place is more suited for traveling with a wingman, just to watch eachothers back. Take only the necessary money and documents to be on the safe side, and NEVER leave your drink unattended and you will be fine.

With a little precaution this please is like a cheap disneyland.

"Santa Fe and Zona Rosa are two completely different neighborhoods."

The OP asked about the Zona Roja. Zona roja and zona rosa have almost opposite meanings. Zona roja refers to a redlight zone whereas Zona Rosa is the most upscale commercial area of a city.

I ended up renting an apartment I found on www.vrbo.com. It is the Presidential Suite #2 (vrbo #249815) It is a 3 bedroom 3 bath that includes a maid that will wash clothes and cook. I would give the maid some money and she would buy the food and cook it.

The owner is a nice Colombian guy but lived in the states for 40 years. There were three of us and we paid $100 a night. He charges more money for more people but he agreed to $100 for 3 people.

The apartment has two t.v.'s and internet. It is a 10 to 12 minute cab ride to Zona Rosa. His other apartment is closer to Zona Rosa.

He is going to have a 3rd apartment which is around the corner from the one I stayed in. He said you can have a small party at the apartment with a band if you want. The maid will cook for the party. I endned up tipping the maid 60,000k after three days. She washed clothes and cooked everyday for us.

There is some traffic noice in apartment #2. Looks like number 3 will be more quite because it is off the major street.

The traffic can be heavy from 5 to 7 pm in Bogota. It takes a while if you want to go to the opposite side of town.

I was in Bogota for just three days, but had some great experiences. I hope more of you stop in Bogota to bring this fine city in the current.

Bogota has so much more to offer than the more popular destinations, Medellin and Cali, world class restaurants, fantastic night life, and tourist attractions. I had an absolute blast.Plus, you can find paisas, calenas, costenas, and every other type of Colombian beauty here.

Went to Aroma y Tanga, a "cafe con piernas".There are two of these owned by the same guy, the other just down the street.

This is akin to a Japanese style hostess club with a Colombian flare. They have bottle service in a narrow bar with a rail. The girls can come and drink your bottle with you and converse, or you can order individual drinks or half bottles.Lap dances are available in another area, did not partake. In the main room the girls are in sexy outfits and strip down to a bikini only.

The girls are beautiful, but you can't touch nor can you do take out.I'm sure there are some that will, though. It was cool to just have some drinks and talk to the babes before heading on to the real casas.

Had great sessions all three nights, the best was a girl from the Mansion, multiple sessions 'til the dawns early light. Carolina from Valle de Leyva. The Mansion is awesome, love to go back when there's more action, it was really slow due to the holidays. There were only about 6 girls, but I was happy with Carolina.DFK,CBJ and DATY.

Juan Pablo's, went with a nice Calena, not my ususal type, they left with some guys that got there before me, but this girl was a great fuck.I love this place too, not the swarm of pushy waiters and managers bothering you, relaxed. No exit fee when the lights go on, about 3am!

THe other place I went to was called, Lalo's I think, affiliated with Los Cerezos on calle 86A No.13A-44 piso 2.The club closes at 3am and everybody moves to Los Cerezos. The place has some nice girls, but the hassle with the typical Colombian style swarm of ten waiters and a manager coercing you into getting a bottle and shoving girls in your face is not my type of place.

Many of the ZOna Rosa places are like this, Extasis and Casanovas, the one off of 15, around 85th-86th.There's action, but these just aren't my ideal location.

I think the escort scene(prepagos) is an untapped source of great providers and prices. I made a pretty sizable list of internet sights with ads,but stuck to what I could see in the three days I had. I had a great prepago that last time I was there in '04, but didn't have any contact info.

Great times at Andres Carnes de Res, the Zona Rosa location, and other fantastic meals around town. Can't wait to go back.

Does anyone know where the 'Mansion' that nightprowler mentions is located? I will be in Bogota for 2 days and want to check this place out.

LL,
There is a place in Barrio Santa Barbara named "La Mansion." The address is Autopista Norte 117 and Pepe Sierra/Calle 116. Not sure if this is the place that was referenced above. I have not been there but it was given to me by a person who said it was on par with Casanova.

Hey Bliss is this place close to to airport?

I have only been to Bogota once for a short stay. There traffic is bad if you are traveling during rush hour. I went to Zona Rosa and Parque de la 93. I will ask someone for specific names of nightclubs.

If you need a nice apartment 3 bedroom the presidential listed on www.vrbo.com is nice. He speaks english and owns three apartments. It comes with a maid who will cook breakfast and watch your clothes.

You call for a cab in Bogota and they give you a confirmation number to tell the cab driver. I was with a Colombian so I actually did not do it myself. This is what we did when we had one come to the apartment. You can get one on the street.

I did not got to the Gold Museum but I heard it is worth seeing. i went to Cerro de Monserrate where you can see the entire city.

Also heard the Pablo Escobar display is cool. There is a link below.

I asked someone from Bogota and these place were mentioned. There are listed on wikitravel also.

Salto del Angel, Cra 13 No 93A-45 (Parque de la 93)

☎ 622-6437, [41]. One of the coolest spots in Bogota, it is the place to see all the football matches with your buddies, beers and really, really good food on Sundays, and on Saturdays, Fridays and Thursdays it is the place to see all the beautiful people dancing salsa and vallenato music on the tables. Great environment but get there early or make a reservation. Cover : 10,000 COP

Bogota Beer Company

Bogota´s very own brewery! Try the "Jirafa" (giraffe) which is a 1 yard long glass full of the Beer of your choice, or the "Campín Calamari" and the "Cedritos Chips" (All dishes are named after Bogota´s most famous neighborhoods). edit
Cl 85 No 13-06 (Calle 85), ☎ 256-6950.
Cra 11A No 93-94 (Parque de la 93), ☎ 621-9914.
Av 19 No 120-74 (Pepe Sierra), ☎ 214-5464.
Cra 6 No 119-24 (Usaquén), ☎ 620-8444.
Cl 82 No 12-10 (Zona Rosa, in front of the Andino Mall), ☎ 611-1254

Andres Carne de Res, (Chia),

☎ 863-7880 (acr@andrescarnederes.com), [37]. Andres Carne de Res is actually a little out of town in the town of Chia, but the trip is well worth the effort. Movers, shakers and the beautiful people descend on the sprawling bar, grill and restaurant nightly. The decor is unique, the vibe amazing, and once you are done eating the dancing goes on until the wee hours. Make sure you have someone to take you home again. Cover: 15,000 COP.

Is it true that Bogota is more expensive than Medellin? Not just women but hotels/apt, ect.

By Latinalover on Thursday, March 15, 2012 - 10:24 pm:  Edit

C,
I have not been to Medellin but I have been to Bogota numerous times and have not found it to be expensive. Compared to Rio nowadays it's a bargain.

By Concarne on Saturday, March 17, 2012 - 01:47 pm:  Edit

Yes Bogota more expensive.

I have been to both twice recently.

BGT MUCH better for non mongering activities, MDE much better for mongering activities.

Dont listen to LL, he doesn't pay attention to the cost. He is just focused on chasing all the cougars in Bogata.

I love cougars...lots of hot cougars in Bogota!

Joan Rivers

Cougars are older women (30's, 40's and more) looking for younger men (20's).

Any younger women looking for older American men who might be wealthy? I guess that's a rhetorical question for SA.

Beauty is only a light switch away! -My Image-

By Hunterman on Thursday, March 22, 2012 - 04:56 pm:  Edit

That may be a comforting thought for my young purchases, but I prefer to leave the lights on so I can enjoy their beauty, and use those visions to fantasize when I have the lights off with more age-appropriate partners.

Hunterman,

the reference is for the post above re: Joan Rivers.

Like yourself, I prefer to enjoy the visual stimulation also; from their toes to their facial expressions and everything in-between.

Oh, I thought you were referring to them turning off the lights so I would be beautiful :-)

This has gotten a little off track....
