Info on Paraguay

Paraguay

I used to go to Asuncion, Paraguay quite a bit from about 1996-1998, and while there, always had a good time. The hotel that we stayed was the:

It is located downtown, about 9 miles from the airport. There is a shopping center and grocery/drug store directly across the street. The hotel is very TSM friendly, only having any guests register. I am not sure of the rates, as my Company paid for it then. The atmosphere is nice, and they have a nice pool as well. There is a casino on one side of the hotel, and a disco on the other side, catering to the very young. At least the casino and disco were there 2 years ago.

The Bartender in the hotel, as well as cab drivers, are your best sources of info of where to find the girls. There is a small club just a few blocks away with a lot of friendly action. Everybody calls it the Playboy Club, but it is not affiliated with Heffner's Playboy. There is just a playboy bunny neon sign outside. A pink neon will attract me anytime. There are other clubs near the hotel as well.

I met an attractive, cute, social worker there, and we became good friends over the two years that I travelled there. She could not speak a word of English, and my Spanish is extremely limited. That never stopped us from having a great time both in and out of the sack. To show you how TSM friendly the hotel is, neither of us had a condom one night. She calls the front desk, and five minutes later a grinning bellman delivers the goods. Life is good.

There are numerous homes that a taxi can take you to, set up for one purpose. Some of them are out in the suburbs, and you think that you are being taken for a ride. But I never had a problem there, except deciding which girl to choose. The people who run them are nice, they usually have a small bar, and the girls are very pleasant. $50-60 will usually do the trick.

A friend of mine was walking to a restaurant, and on the way two girls were trying to get money to get into a concert that night. He did both of them for about $30-40.

The bartender can tell you about some of the other clubs in the outlying areas, country clubs and such. They have dancing and such, and it usually does not start getting busy until about 1:00 or 1:30 am. The girls are beautiful, but I was always with my friend, so did not find out any prices. I do not think it should be any different than any other Latin American country though. Today's exchange rate is 1$ = 2842 Guarani. Your money should go far.

During the day, there is a large market in the center of town, that sells a lot of goods and such. There are a lot of beautiful women walking around as well. A lot of the girls in the clubs are just supplementing their meager income from their jobs, and are very grateful to find a nice guy that treats them well.

There are some great restaurants as well, and the food is excellent. There is a country club on the Paraguay River, complete with restaurant and golf course. Everybody calls it the yacht club, but it is just a nice club on the river.

Again, the bartenders, bellmen, and taxi drivers are your best sources of info for TSM activities, as well as clubs and restaurants. I hope this has helped you, good luck, and happy hunting.

If you stay only a short time in Asuncion and probably in the EXCELSIOR hotel, I can recommend a small club in
walking distance, name cleopatra club.

I visited Paraguay some month ago. In general, the scene is not very big. In the capital I found around 20 ladies - most in their early twenties, but also som much older ones. One "9", but most "5"-"7". The "9" was not able to talk more than a few words in a foreign language , but the abilities were other ...

Hi I will be in Ascunsion sometime next week. Any info on Ascunsion,Ciudad Del Este and Encarnacion would be appreciated. I would like a whole run down on the streetwalker scene and cheap hotels in Paraguay. What about massage parlors and escort ads? What are the best newspapers to buy for classified sex ads? I have seen in the ABC Paper of Ascunsion a few ads for massage parlors but nothing more. How about also a good run down on the Whiskerias and Cat walk model shows? What is the exchange rate for the Paraguayan currency to the Us Dollar? How about the crime situation and corruption in Paraguay,,, SP 2000...

Where can I get some current info on Paraguay (Asuncion)?

Some of the best sessions I had in Argentina were with paraguayas. They were uninhibited & very willing to please . Gonna include Paraguay on my next SA trip.

Asuncion hot & humid in Feb, daytime highs 96F, overnite lows 76F, often stayed in a/c hotel room noon-4pm siesta time. Locals said it's hotter in Dec & Jan. Checked out 60 casas in centro but about half of them appeared closed (out of business). Price range 50000-100000 guaranies for 30 minutes.

Unlike the paraguayas working in Buenos Aires, only one in Asuncion gave gfe, saw only 2 that were better than a 6 in looks. After 9pm streets empty, more karoake bars than hooker bars. A chica in Playboy (14 de Mayo & Estrella) wanted 500000 guaranies for takeout 2 hrs, none were attractive.

Although Paraguay is the 2nd poorest SA country, saw lots more Mercedes Benzs than SGs, standing on corners at Estrella & 14 de Mayo, Palma & 14 de Mayo, Estrella & Alberdi after 9pm. Quoted 100000 guaranies + 15000 room for an hour.

any updates to Paraguay? planning a side trip from BA ?

I looked into Paraguay. The women are stunning but the trip is long from the northeast and EXPENSIVE!
The cheapest I could get on Continental, out of Newark, was $1800 and up. I can't justify the cost compared to other destinations.

Maybe you can get there by using your miles?

I am going there the following week, but will have a Brasileira with me limiting my ability to do any mongering. Going more for the purpose of wrapping up my goal of having visited all South American countries (still need Suriname & Guyana) and will only stay 2 nights. If you are planning on visiting Paraguay as a side trip from BA and are an American, make sure you do some advance planning on getting the "reciprocal" visa in advance. It is not available upon arrival like BA.

Flying out of Rio to Asuncion costs about R$600 (i.e. USD$355), so not exactly cheap. Not sure how much it would be from BA, but would not expect it to be cheap either....not exactly a big tourist destination.

Sounds like a side trip to Asunción from Rio is cheaper. I can get to Rio for about 700 or 800 dollars and then the 355 from Rio to Paraguay would make it a lot less then the $1800 fare I was getting direct to Paraguay,from the states.

...and spending some time in Rio is not all that bad either :-)
