Are these numbers correct? The international salary calculator at HomeFair.com says if you make $70,000 US in Orlando Florida USA you will need $69,957 US in Medellin, $73,793 US in Bogota, and $58,085 US in Cartagena to live the same life style. Seems high to me.

That calculator has to be WAY WAY off.
Unless they're figuring in some special Gringo Tax - no way it's even close.
At the Torre Poblado in Medellin, a monthly serviced apartment is 2,400,000P ($1,000).
During your firsy month there you'll find another place to live that'll be less than half the price, but even at $1,000 a month how can you need $69,957 to live comfortably?
Food and transportation are very cheap, especially compared to the US.
Maybe someone who lives there can enlighten us more, but as a casual visitor who has looked into living costs down there, I just don't get it.

It's suppose to be at roughly the same standard of living, so equal housing size/quality as in the states, same quality schools, same autos, recreation, food etc. I've found homefare to be fairly accurate for a lump sum generator for Singapore and within the US. A large portion of the cal is real estate driven.

No, the numbers are not correct. Cartagena is, by far, the most expensive city in Colombia. That is not reflected in the numbers.
I don't know about the COL(cost of living) in Orlando, but I live in CTG. The COL here is easily less than 1/2 of the US. I am from the midwest.

Colombia is not my specialty but I lived in Rio for awhile.
I find that you can spend as much as you want no matter where you live. The trick is to reduce your costs to live overseas.
In Brazil, I paid $650 a month room an food...COMPLETE. Transportation is cheap if you stay out of the taxis and take the bus or subway (if there is one in Colombia).
Entertainment is the only variable expense.
I lived quite comfortably including Chicas for about $1000. Like I said in other areas on this site, if you live there, you don't need to pay for Pros. There are plenty of non-pros out there.
Just don't expect to juggle a bunch of them. Chicas have a 6th sense unmatched anywhere in the world and they will cut your balls off!
If you want to monger, you can add about $500 to your living expenses per month. Just stay away from the expensive places and become a local.
