Calle 53 on the left hand side had the gems (in my eye). I was there on Thursday afternoon and Saturday night (awesome).

All the stripclubs have on-site rooms, at least Show San Diego, La Isla and Face Dos (I think for Face Dos it's actually next door).

I've taken out from all of these clubs, but never done anyone on-site - just my preference - I like the home-field advantage.

Good point about doing your trolling from the front seat of your taxi and bringing them back to your hotel.

While I felt comfortable walking Calle 53 in the late afternoon, I had no desire to leave the friendly confines of my taxi after dark.

I did best by have the driver park on the left hand side of Calle 53 and he would call over any girl that interested me.

The dealbreaker you'll find most often is as much as you don't want to step outside the cab, they don't want to step inside. But I wouldn't do it for free with Shakira in one of those ST hotels.

I was in Medellin last weekend. I had some time to kill, so I asked the taxista to go by C. 53 (based on WS's posts). He was convinced that there was nothing to be seen on 53, and that I meant C. 33. I told him it's where the viejas are on one side of the street and the jovenes are on the other side - but still he had no clue and insisted I meant 53. We discussed some more, and finally I agreed to hit 33.

I didn't even see one girl (7:30p) - too early? Was I in the right place? It was kind of under a bridge (or within a block), the corner had a curved building and there was a chicken restaurant mid-block, and a strip club a blk away (didn't see the name, maybe San Diego). I'm curious, from this corner in which direction does one go to find the girls?

That's too bad not going to Calle 53 at 7:30pm - I walked that area from 5 - 6pm and the pickings were great. Also, see Sukhumvitter's report - he has an awesome map that shows where the SGs are in case of any doubting taxistas.

As for Calle 33, if you were to pull into the parking lot of Show San Diego (the strip club you came across), the girls would be to the left of the club.

I only went to San Diego once and that was after 11pm, and there were definately SGs there, but nowhere as near the numbers as Calle 53.

Too bad, because there are plenty of girls on Calle 53 from early afternoon to the wee hours. You can't miss there.

Next time make sure you check out Calle 53.

Your taxi may have been trying to steer you to 33rd for his own reasons, or perhaps he was just uninformed. While most of the MDE taxi drivers are good guys just trying to make a living, many seem to have less knowledge than we do.

I'd guess he was just uninformed, as after there was nothing interesting to see we went to my apartment and he never suggested anything else.

I didn't really have time to hobby at all, and I was staying with my GF, so if I do return and with time to hobby I'll prepare better (with WS's and Sukhumvitter's info).

It has a lot more to do with comfort than class. I know the chances of me being ripped off are exponentally greater in a ST hotel in Centro then in my apartment in Poblado.

I also think you get better service - less rushed - in your own place.

Calle 33 has a lot of discos and bars on it, he probably thought thats what you were after, but who really knows.

Thre are some hookers on Calle 33, there is also some rooms with hookers in on some of the places there, thats possibly why the taxi went there.

I don't know any up to date info on which places have the rooms, but a cruise along the street asking some of the locals would qet you the up to date info very quickly.

I have never been to TJ.

was in Medellin a week ago and had the same cabbie Fl hobbyer had, claimed no street girls on Calle 53 and would not go there. I finally talked to a buddy named Rajun Cajun and he showed me the area, two blocks down from the Botero Plaza, on Avenida DeGrief. I pulled hottie after hottie off this street corner, right in front of El Faro Bar. I just posted my trip report. I used the short time hotels, and did not get robbed, although had to walk the gauntlet many times with a hottie in front of me, and drunk chicos on each side of the sidewalk. Fun.

I also pulled several pair out of Calle 33 around Show San Diego. One tried to trip me off and I had to twist her arm to get the money out of her hand. Most of these babes had glue smell on their breath....one so strong she must have just been huffing it.

The Calle 53 babes were dirt cheap. I did one for 12,000 pesos, about $5 bucks. I never paid more than $20,000 which is 8.50. I did pay more for extra services.

I also found a great hotel right off Calle 53 called Hotel Eros. More expensive, but much nicer than the sweaty street hotels, with a jacuzzi, and you can go for 3 hours or 12. next time I am getting it for 12 hours, and will bring the babes back in.

I also found another huge street girl area in front of Hotel Castillo in the Mayorista area (that is the nameof a huge street market). I saw maybe 80 babes lined up elbow to elbow (TJ style) on this street. Pulled one out of a cab as she was leaving that looked like Reese Witherspoon.

If you go into any of these areas do NOT overpay. I paid ridiculously cheap prices, and would like it to stay that way. No need for gringo inflation. BTW I saw no other gringos in Calle 53. Just me.

Be very careful. I stepped over a pool of blood outside the Hotel Morgan on Calle 53, minutes after a street girl had been stabbed in the neck by a drunken and jealous chico. Don't bring your valuables here.

Was there on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, saw one flaca one when getting out of the taxi to SD but she was wasted. On Tuesday, had a pretty cool taxi driver. He'd flick his headlights & honk then pull over. The chicas were on the taxi like magnets. Heard some quoting 40K-50K and also asking to take them back to the mansion.
