Dood, it was cool meeting you, Don, GCL, and Mitch. Don't know if you have been to sao paulo but it is a couple notches above rio. we are having a blast here. see you at solarium or l'uomo sunday afternoon if we don't change our plans to extend our stay in sp. ching ching.
Dood:
We chatted about hooking up in Rio after the Buenos Aires segment of my upcoming trip. I will be departing the USA for Argentina on the morning of 28 August. I will then leave Argentina for Brazil on 4 Sept. We should make some arrangement before I depart as I do not get on the internet while I am on vacation and I don't know how to contact you once I arrive in Rio. Speaking of Rio, I am a bit concerned with Sakebomb's posts in which he says that Rio is a big disappointment after Buenos Aires. Should I be thinking about changing my ticket so that I spend time in Sao Paulo?

This is dood's thread & I'm sure that he will have a more elequent response.
Here's mine -
I have spent alot of time in Rio & totally disagree with sakebomb but we are all entitled to our own opinion. Rather than panic'ing based on 1 lone post, read all the threads & the consistent opinion of almost all is the rio is great. And I think you can only form 1 of 2 opinions - either most of us are complete idiots or sakebomb has some esoteric tastes. Some seem to prefer Rio over BA and some go the other way; but the sky is not falling down.
From what I have read of sakebomb's updates, he was looking for the wrong things at the wrong times in Rio. He went to the termas but he got there too late to find the best looking women. Help and Barbarellas does not have the high end talent as in the prime season.
You can always go the domestic airport & buy a ticket to Sao Paulo for $44 that will leave within the next hour. And then when it is time to go home then get a return flight back to rio; they leave every hour.

I completely agree with YT.
Don't let Sake cry wolf and ruin your trip.
I'm going back to NY for a few days the night of Sept 4th. I'll be back on the 11th though.
My cell # is posted higher in this thread
It's funny some of guys from the Navy would go back to the ship and tell the guys that there's (no action) here and there hoping that the other sailor's wouldn't hit the beach looking in there areas (OF ACTIONS) hoping to keep the numbers of sailors down so the price wouldn't GO UP, but I would always check it out for myself and see that there were all types of action to be had.
Same with DR I would see some of the THE MOST UGLY GIRLS posted on different website to the point I wouldn't want to go anywhere near DR, but me and some guys went down to Santo Domingo, DR and we seen some of the BEST LOOKING GIRLS around, and we go back each year and have GREAT TIME, if I only look at the picture posted of the websites that are out there I wouldn't have ever been to DR.
Then, again every man have there own taste on what they like some like blondes, big tits, long legs, etc. so for me (I LOVE RIO AND DR BECAUSE I LOVE THE BUNDAS)
So, the bottom line go to RIO, I been there many times some places have better looking girls then others BUT, when you go to the TERMAS or HELP with anywhere between 40-85 girls or MORE, I would always find two or three girls that I MUST HAVE so go and CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF OK!!!

Dood: thanks for posting all this info re getting settled down there. There is a question that begs to be asked: what is the liability of having a fiador? Can he f*ck you over in some way? On the other hand, if you were to flake out in somehow, like trash the place and leave the country, what liability must the fiador assume?
By Dood on Monday, August 26, 2002 - 04:27 pm: Edit |
The liability of a fiador is kind-of the same as in the US or any other country when you have a co-signer.
There's nothing he can do to me, but if I trash the place and skip town, he either has to pay the balance of the lease and fix it or they take his house. A fiador is a serious matter here, because they don't put up "credit", they actually have to put up a physical peice of property.
By the way. It's official, I got the apartment. I just signed the contracts and got the keys a couple hours ago. Wooo hooo! I'll post some pics soon.

Dood ...ATM or Cambio's??? and yeah this thread was hard to find...
By Dood on Thursday, September 12, 2002 - 07:21 pm: Edit |
whew.. Still ATM's.
I got high speed internet in my apartment today.. cable a few days ago.. the stove finally works as of today.. and phone lines come in tomorrow..
I had to get the entire place re-wired becuase the electrical is 50 years old. A guy came in to fix the ceiling fan and it caught on fire. Only R$3300 to gut the place and rewire...
US$1000 doesn't seem like that great of a deal, but then again, I don't know anything about home electrical wiring in Brazil.
what a fucking nightmare.. but the bad part is almost over..
By Layne87 on Thursday, September 12, 2002 - 08:04 pm: Edit |
thank ya sir..
sorry hope it doesnt mess up your terma runs...I remember seeing that kind of stuff at Jace's...part of the game with those old buildings..at least you dont have to worry about old pussy anymore...
Dood,
How much does cable access cost in Brazil? Do you also get cable TV across the same line as your cable modem?
BT
By Dood on Friday, September 13, 2002 - 03:25 am: Edit |
Cable TV is R$80/month for everything. No HBO/Cinemax though with "Net TV" (The cable company). The internet is on the same line. R$125/month for 512Kbs. R$299 for the modem and installation.
Rhonda lives on the next block from me and she could get neither one. She had to get DirectTV. Not a horrible thing though because she gets HBO/Cinemax and a bunch of other channels I don't.
Dood,
Coming to Brazil in a few months. What items do you find the girls like from the states? Used to be cologne 3-4 years ago. And tennis shoes.
Figured I pack a few extra gifts. Ya' never know...
And I will post the dates for my trip, once they are solid and if there is anything any of the fellow mongers need who are living there, I will try and bring it.
Thanks,
PS. Would love to see some shots of your new pad! When I was down there, I look at buying a condo on Ipanema. I love to see the stories of guys actually doing it.
By Dood on Friday, September 13, 2002 - 03:14 pm: Edit |
The girls love anything from victorias secret. Buy a bunch of lotions from there and they will go apeshit.
For "security reasons" I won't be sending pics.. but I'd be happy to show you the place when you get here.
Hey dood...glad to read that the apartment is coming along. My brother and I had a great time hanging out with you a couple weeks ago. When I sell my golf course I'll continue my conversation with you on your deal there. Tell Rhonda and Don hi for me.
Later,
Paulster
Thanks Dood. Will pick up some stuff before I go. Make a few care packages for the girls so to speak.
In going through the threads, things have changed. Seems like a lot more favor Termas these days than Help or Barbarella. And apartment rentals are becoming popular. And heck, now there are gringos living there! A big change from 3-4 years ago.
I'm going to attempt a schedule at some point. And include sightseeing (Iguaso Falls or however it is spelled).
Last time I was there, I was solo. This time it will be with a few friends. Would love to meet some of the regular guys on this board who are there. Maybe one day for lunch. Once I get my plans situated, I will drop a post.
Thanks for your reply.
