Can anyone share their most recent experiences good and bad toward Americans after Sec State O'nell's visit to Rio?
A friend just returned from Rio and said American sentiment is poor from the Cariocas; especially since he allegedly bashed the Brazilian Gov. in a speech.
I'm debating whether I should go there or not in October when they are having elections.

Actually, now that O'Neill has visited and the IMF is fronting them $30 billion dollars, I think any anti-American sentiment has evaporated...the downside is, this loan from the International community has seriously bolstered their economy (I know, great for Brazil, but yes, as a selfish monger, it sucks for me...lol). The Real closed under 3:1 for the first time in a few weeks and is allegedly targetting a drift towards 2.5 to 1 shortly...it was trading on the september futures market at 2.9 so figure that's the high end of where it will be for the next month or so...actually, not too shabby in the short term, but longer term I think the value of our money has peaked...oh well...
