I didn't stay at Saint Simon, but I had read that it was one of the recommended hotels to stay at in Bogota. I actually stayed right next door at Hamilton Court. I planned to move to Saint Simon after my two night reservation was up, but Hamilton Court was offering free internet use at the time and I liked the hotel a lot otherwise, so I spent all four nights there.
Hotel Saint Simon
Carrera 14 #81-34
(between Calle 81 & Calle 82)
Tel: 621 8188
I had a bit of difficult finding information on the web about Saint Simon, otherwise I probably would have reserved my 2nd two days here. I stopped by to pick up a brochure, but all they had was a business card which didn't have a web address nor email address listed. (unlike Hamilton Court which had both)
The price for a single was under $50 US, less than half what I was paying next door at Hamilton Court. However, the day I stopped by I noticed there was no security personell (had to be buzzed in) and the decor wasn't as nice. I didn't see the rooms, but I'm sure there were a lower standard than Hamilton based on what I saw of the lobby.
Another important consideration was that there were fewer internet facilities and the ones I did find seemed to have limited hours. Hamilton was offering free internet service to test a new network they set up, so I spent my whole time there. In retrospect, I probably should have spent at least one night here to see how I liked it and to save some money, but I can't really complain about Hamilton Court.
Atlantis shopping mall is right around the corner with plenty of restaurants, stores, ATMs, and a currency exchange. Nightclubs Casanova, Copa Cabana, and Extasis are not too far away on Calle 86.
