Hey my flight has been booked for my first ever Brazil trip from 9/19-9/29. I've recently heard that elections might be going on during that time. Will this negatively impact my hobbying?

The elections aren't until October. You'll be ok

October 6th I believe is the day when we find out if Lula is in or not...

So is October going to be a bad time for Brazil?
Early closures or special alcohol rule sales apply? No risk for protest or violence in Copacabana, is there?

For the first time the elections will be held on a Sunday in Brazil. Unlike the USA everyone is required by law to vote. If you do not vote or do not file a form stating the reason you can't vote, you are penalized heavily. By fine, they revoke your passport, etc. I don't think that the elections will effect too much here in Rio.
I also don't think Lula will win. That is why the IMF is waiting until after the elections to cut loose with the balance of the 30 Billion in loans.
They want to be sure who will control the distribution of the loot.

If Lula wins there will be no more programa: by Marxist doctrine all sex will be free!
(that's a joke, son)
I think that if Lula does win he will suffer a terrible misfortune, as history tends to repeat itself.

Since when do people learn from history? If Lula does win expect a return to serious inflation and an even bigger increase in crime.
