Hello fellow mongers,

I just wanted to quickly add my 2 cents as to what I thought of Cartagena.

Speaking only for myself I would say that Cartagena is not my cup of tea because:

The touts are everywhere bothering you to buy junk constantly even entering eating establishments.

The beach at Laguito is not very pretty and the water is not clean. I know there are nearby beaches that are beautiful but the main party area is Laguito and it's ugly.

There is construction of many new buildings and for now the noise is bothersome in the mornings.

It's very hot and humid during the day to the point of where I would choose to stay in airconditioned places until sunset rather than melting under the sun.

When it rains it pours and it floods often. Also when the wind picks up, the sand blows around to the annoying point.

Ok, what about the girls? The best ones (and the prettiest in my opinion) are from Medellin. The locals were just so so. However, I didn't have any major complaints about the girls overall.

But after going to Medellin I would avoid going back to Cartagena. I'll defer the Medellin reporting to my fellow travelers. I don't have the heart to be one of the many that will be responsible for spoiling her.

So here's just a few girls I found to be very willing to please in Cartagena.

great meeting you again. touts unreal. my take is we were the in the off-off season.hot, rain, and hot. no tourists equals few quality girls from around the country as there is no money to be made. however you hit the few hot ones. wish sandman and i tagged along to medellin with you and your friend. i am back to rio and my comfort zone, hope to see you there. we owe you a beer.

Yes, it was great being able to hang out with you and Sandman. I had thought of a quick run to Rio over the 4th of July holiday but the airfare is outrageous. I'll opt instead to slide into TJ, Rosarita and Ensanada for a few days. Then it's back to Medellin for the flower festival in August.

I agree, once you know Rio, it is like being home. I still love there.

The first girl, Lindsay, had just arrived from Medellin. She and two friends had just dropped off their bags at a friends house and had come out to play. I was outside when I saw her. She was about to walk into LDV for the first time when I spotted her and pounced on her immediately. Lindsay gave excellent output and was 100K COP without any negotiation. Most girls were 80K to 100K COP. I even got lucky with one girl from Baranquila which turned out to be a freebie.

Hey Cubanut, great pics and report, although my preference is for CTG w/MDE coming a close second. I also agree that some of the best looking gals are from MDE. Regardless, it was a pleasure hooking up with you in CTG and I appreciate you taking the time to show me your HUGE database of pics. Hopefully, you'll post more of those pics, some of them I recall were outstanding.

I am ambivalent about posting a full report of Medellin fearing that it could cause an onslaught of mongers decending upon this pristine location. I brought myself to share my thoughts and a small handful of pictures of Cartagena. But I am pondering what to do with the 1,200 pictures I took in Medellin and the stories that go behind them. Why don't you PM sometime soon and I will elaborate.

You're a very fortunate man. One of these days you're going to need to show me how you do this. Sadly I'm stuck in the USA for the summer, and don't get to retun to Rio until August. I guess I just need to live vicariously through you and the board for a couple more months. This is the longest time (3 mos.)between trips south in a year and a half. Sadly, I just can't seem to find anyone that'll pay me to hang in Ipanema. I can only dream.

Nice report, having been broke into Rio by Sandman,I think it time to explore other horizons. When is the best time of year to come to CTG, and what is the Flower Festival.

William5, when you say what is the best time of year, it depends what you mean, if you like the place crowded, if you like it slightly cooler temperature wise than normal, etc.

The flower festivel is in Medellin, which is several days of differant parades, from flowers floats and people walking with huge baskets of flowers strapped to their back, to vintage cars, to the largest horse parade (with loads of very pretty girls riding them) in Colombia and many other things.

I think its the last week of July or early August, Medellin is full of tourists for that week, nearly all the tourists are Colombians with a few foreigners sprinkled in.

Nice photos and report. Got to agree with you with touts, hot and humid, rain, and pretty girls. All the times I have been there it was rainy so not sure if the rain season is all 12 months. Could not handle the heat and had to wait till sunset.

I plan on being down in Medellin for around ten days. I'm thinking it will be the second week of Decmber. I understand the City is nicely lit up.

BTW- My Budddies dropped out of going to TJ so I booked a flight for this Friday back to Medellin.

June is the hottest month in Cartagnena too. FYI, go to Beauty Pageant in November, December, and January are the best months for girls a plenty. After that the city pretty much is empty. Also look at stying in the old city, different vibe, more chicas, and greater atmosphere, ie plazas and cafes may meet some various needs. Also local newspaper El Universal has advertisements for girls, I've taken on a few and also sent a few home. But in a post earlier, Cartagena's days are over for now, all the cuties are in Europe or done. Ten years ago it was amazing, but for now the girls just arn't there. I took a vacation from 3 years away came back to Cartagena and all the smoking one's were gone though I did still see about one quarter of the girls from before still there and they were 6's.
