This hotel is located on Rua Agusta a few blocks offAve Paulista. It is easy to get to from the Airport, GRU, To get there from the airport, you take one of the buses that make the hotel circuit in the Paulista area. Buses run every 30 minutes, and will drop you in front of the hotel. You can also catch the bus in front of the hotel back to GRU. The price for the bus rid is about $R 10.00. If you take a taxi, it will be $R25 - $R35.

The web site for the hotel is listed below:

This place is without a doubt one of the nicesest hotels that I have ever stayed at.

Another advantage is that Rua Agusta seems to be safe to walk at night. I would not adventure far off this street.

In July I stayed there, and was going to visit Kilts. I only had the address for Kilts, and went out front to get a taxi. When I gave the doorman the address I wanted to go to, he told me that it was only a block away. The streets were well lighted, and there were lots of people on the street, and so I walked over there.

I came back with a lady so the hotel is Chica friendly.

I have stayed here several times before. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and many people speak English.

The room that I had was the Superior suite.

There is good Internet service in the hotel.

I would recommend that if you are doing the mongering thing that you fly between Sao Paulo and Rio using Congohas airport in Sao Paulo, and Santos Dumont in Rio. Both airports are close to the center of the cities, and easier and quicker then going to GRU in Sao Paulo, or GIG in Rio. Flights between Rio and SP usually leave every 30 minutes on both Varig, and TAM. For other flights around Brazil, check GOL.

If you are leaving from the hotel, and flying back to the US, you can ask for a late checkout. There are arrangements that they will make so that you do not have to spend money for another day. Of course most US flights leave SP late at night.

Anyway, back to the Hol Grand Hotel Cadora. I would highly recommend this place. My visits here have always been very pleasant.

Upon reading this posting, I decided to check out Ca' d'Oro myself on my next visit to SP. Normally, I would never disagree with CP - however, I would certainly not recommend this hotel. I also stayed in the superior suite but was unimpressed by the furnishings - it was as if I stepped into the 1960s. I must admit that it is a good value - R$250/night - and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It is also technically in Consolacao neighborhood - a fair distance from Av. Paulista.

However, the great thing is that it is right on Rua Augusta and walking distance to Kilts. It is garota friendly - although you may find a small (R$25) guest charge on your bill if you bring someone up during the day.

At the end of the day, I would recommend staying at one of the Accor hotels such as the Partenon or Novotel or Blue Tree properties.
