I found the food to be good to excellent a few select restaurantes.
in the laguito area,
for steaks and meats, riquisimos.
There is also a restaurant just past the hilton as you go along av.almirante brion, but before it turns into av. el retorno. This place has great steaks that may surpass riquisimos. Their fish is also good. One of the best things about this place is the the dark and private environment. You won't get stares if you're with a girl with obvious hooker wear on. The restaurant also affords great views of the lil gulk of el laguito.
for italian food: cin cin has some decent pasta, but the best thing on it's menu is the fillet mignon smoothered with some sort of cheese.
In the boca grande area, there are many restaurantes....too many to list.
Cra.3 has many little italian restaurantes.
Picalo pizza makes a mean pie, but their pasta sauce needs work.
crapes and waffles is a nice place to take a girl for lunch or breakfast.
For late night food, you can call giro matto and order pizza. A medium to large will set you back 20k for the pie and delivery but you can get pizza at all hours and it's pretty good. reminds me of the pastry type pizzas i've eaten in france.
el corral serves up some great hamburgers, but the service is kinda slow.
In the old city:
there is plaza santa domingo, but it's a lil pricey. great place to people watch or to bring a date. there are also a few restaurantes near the plaza that provide excellent food and a more affordable price.

A few yards beyond Requisimo is a rest. called Julia´s, not the owner´s name, but her Aunt´s.
I highly recommend the joint. My favorite dish there, is the sancocho de pescado (fish stew/soup), y pargo frito (fried sanpper). You won´t go wrong!

Riquisimo re-opened with a real modern, artsy decor. Lots of indoor tables with good AC now and the steaks are still very good, although they seemed to have raised the prices a bit.
Cin Cin, the really good Italian place across the street from Riquisimo is now long gone. For good Italian, try the Da Pietro restaurant or some of the places in Plaza Domingo in the old city.

Cin Cin has a new location at the other end of Bocagrande.
A whole area of restaurants between Riquissimo and Edificio Antares including Julia's, Borrachitos, and Cana will be demolished soon to make way for yet another residential high rise. Julia's has another location lined up but it may not be in Laguito.
The restaurant between Marinare and Caribe Real has had a new roof installed. It wouldn't surprise me to see a new restaurant opening there.

I don't get to Centro as oftern as I like now that the road construction has the place really fucked up. I managed to get down there last night.
Enoteca is a wonderful Italian restaurant. It blows Cin Cin away. It's located between the Hotel Santa Teresa and Plaza San Pedro Claver in Centro. I hadn't eaten there for over a year and had forgotten how good it was.

I like Julia's for breakfast. however the gentleman always gets my order wrong, I order bacon, I get ham etc... It is comical but the food is not bad.
La vittorle for italian is excellent but expensive, and another good alternative is the restraunt right on the water around the corner from the Hilton, called Tropical, They have great soup, kind of nice for a meal, walking distance..
Club de pesca in manga is really good also but $$$

Unfortunately, Julia's has been demolished.

riquisimos place is now remodeled and the food there has plummeted in quality imo. some of the staff there have attitude now too....as a result, it's very slow there at the moment.

I actually think its ok, and some of dudes there are old drinking buddies. Check out El Muelle on the beach, it's open 24 hours and very cozy.

The big change at Riquissimos is the price.
Julia's has re-opened a couple doors up from el Muelle.

Tomtom33,
When you say that Julia´s is a ¨couple of doors up¨from El Muelle, does that mean it is on the beach like El Muelle? Where is it in relation to Hollywood Beach?
Thanks,
Juga

It is not on the beach. It is up the road.
