Gentlemen

In Colombia they say that the most beautiful women are from Pereira a 400k inhabitant city 100 miles south of Medellin. They also say that "when you ask a Pereira women to sit, they lay back and open their legs.." so it sounds interesting. Do you have any information about that area?. Any experience?

Take care

Anyone know how long it takes to drive to Peirera (someone has suggested 5 hours) and how the roads are ? ....from Medellin

If I remember correctly, the bus from MDE terminal south to Manizales took around 5 hours. Manizales to Periera was maybe another 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

The roads were in good condition but very curvy. You always have to be prepared to stop or pull way over to the right to avoid a head-on with another vehicle passing. The buses even pass on blind curves.

Five hours from Medellin, about 250 km and only a little over 50 km to Pereira an one or so. If you do decide to drive or take the bus be sure to leave at first light. You pass through the most beautiful area of Colombia. Should cost about $25.000 pesos. Expreso Palmira S.A makes that run with no change of buses, I think. Take one of the big S26 buses.

Thanks guys, but I am thinking 5/6 hours is a long time to sit on a bus.

But the big plus-you will pass through some really beautiful country and if you subtract the time in getting to the airport in MDE, the security checks, et. al, you probable will not save a lot of time. Buses in Colombia are very good and the big express/executive bus have more amenities and are more comfortable than the airlines.(not to mention the peso savings that can be put to more profitable practices.)

Avianca just started nonstop service from JFK - Periera. Only a couple days a week, but obviously enough people are going directly to Periera to warrant the service.
