I am going to be going to Brazil for the first time in a few months. Can any of you more experienced folks recommend an area to stay in (Copa, Impanima, etc.) Also how should a first timer approach the scene in rio? Should I head to the beach, or go to the termas? Escorts? Basically what would be the most productive way to spend my time? Thanks for any help you can give.

Cabibadive2...I would recommend looking up Bwana Dik's Guide to Rio under "reports"...there is a wealth of information to study up on. Have fun!

I would also consider hiring Don and Ken as they provide excellent service especially for newbies in Rio. - Hemp

Investing in Don & Ken's services is the best thing any newbie can do. I have told the story a million times about Don's sister getting a Dr. to our hotel in the middle of the night when my buddy had food poisoning.
They are good guys and they will teach you the ropes, I still use them when I go back, even though I have been there several times, because it is nice to have them as a resource and you always meet a fun group of guys when you hang with them.
