One of the more common questions I get via email is "Is XYZ Hotel guest-friendly?" It's hard to answer these questions because hotel policies change and there are so damned many hotels.
I thought it might be useful for all of us to compile current information on hotels, much the way the Brasilian guys do about garotas.
So, I propose that guys share recent info about hotels' guest policies, using the following format:
Name of hotel:
Date of last stay:
Does this hotel allow guests?
Does this hotel allow more than one guest at a time?
Does the hotel charge extra for guests? If yes, how much?
Are there any other guest policy issues worth noting?
I think it's best to only offer info that comes from first-hand experience, rather than what you heard from someone else.
I'll jump-start this with a review, to follow.

Name of hotel: Ipanema Tower Residence
Date of last stay: Nov. 2005
Does this hotel allow guests? Yes
Does this hotel allow more than one guest at a time? Yes; I had duplas from escort services during the day. I did not try to bring in two girls for overnight sessions.
Does the hotel charge extra for guests? If yes, how much? I was not charged. I reserved a "double" (same price as a single).
Are there any other guest policy issues worth noting? Girls are asked to check in at the lobby desk, but the front desk guys are pretty casual about this.

Currently, we've had conflicting information about whether the Ipanema Towers still allows guests. For that reason, we've been suggesting other hotels.
Great idea, Bwana.

This thread is a very good idea. Perhaps Hombre could think about either condensing the data periodically into a table, or set up a small program that would allow us to directly enter such information into a table. Ditto for Bangkok and any other destinations for which guest friendliness is a common question.

I heard the management of Ipanema Tower did get pissed when a particularly large group of gringos showed up (as a group) and paraded numerous GPs through the lobby at all hours. The desk clerk was upset and said something to me about people needing to respect others. In any event, I was not charged for guests even though I was staying there at the time. If someone else has solid info, I'd like to hear it. One guy I know on another board, who came in the day I was leaving, said he was asked to pay when he checked out, but he fussed and pointed out that he had reserved a "double" and they dropped the request. Sometimes I also wonder whether you're treated differently if you speak Portuguese vs English. I always speak Portuguese with the clerks.
Laguy,
Great idea! I would think it would be do-able.
Gibletpie,
As you have other guys stay at other hotels (Atlantico Copacabana, etc), urge them to post here,

Ah yes, that would have been Dino's small army of what, 30 guys, back over Thanksgiving? We anticipated that at the time. I think the conversation was along the lines of "Dino's festa at Country Residence meant the end of weekly rentals there, let's see if the same results happen at Ipanema Tower"
I love Ipanema Tower and enjoyed all of my stays there. However, I was always with the GF and never brought a GdP back there.
